REALLY???? No!!!!!!! I guess you missed all the comments about Fatboy slim ,Prodigy, etc. sampling a song by Art of noise(like they created it), that they themselves covered 5 decades after the original. Did your mother have children that lived?????
@poppaluv Well, they just liked the Art of Noise's version of the song better.
The original probably wouldn't have blended with the Prodigy. Besides, this is all down to the sampler, Art of Noise never claimed to own this song, They just let a group borrow some of their work. It's really not that hard to comprehend.
@rcwells27 Hey, for the record,I loved it since it came out. Just sayin' lets give credit where credit is due(originally). Sorry if I sounded like an ass, but Mancini is/was(?) one of the greats hmself.
@DPJTRON The music couldn't be playing while displaying that text? Probably not if this is how they did the video with the music to start/match the video itself. Thanks for the response, for those like me who don't need that info, skipping to 20 seconds is a good idea. This video is also worth the 20 second wait for those who would rather wait. :)
"People like me"?! What IS an argument? Numbers? An explanation why so many people disapprove of my comment is that probably most visitors are fans of this "effort" above. . Democracy is ruled by numbers as well. When a nation choses a Sharia regime incl inhumane actions towards many is unpleasant but numbers are numbers, not? Every day countless people eat @ Mac Donalds. An argument to extrapolate it into let everyone eat it forever? But, indeed, taste is an opinion.
No, it's weak when people like you can't express a proper explanation behind their subjective negative comments on YouTube. Apparently even YouTube says that too many people disapproved of your comment.

@xkzlqrwhydpnvijmcftbx I guess the video was o.k. but they butchered the song. "Art Of Noise?" More like "Fart Noise" I'd say.
Don't mean to be all negative but my band just spent a week rehearsing Peter Gunn to get all the parts right before we posted our new video. It's just upsetting to hear a sub par arrangement like this.
@xhifbhiex I have seen this video once before when it first came out , very funny and quite well done . I was just wondering who was the guy who played the P.I when I came across Rik Mayall 's name in the comments , now I need to know who played the femme fatale and the barkeeper who turned out to be a crime boss .

But Link Wray did the cover of Jack the Ripper that made the track famous. Ask any east coast band and I bet 85% percent would say Link Wray originally performed the song. They are very wrong.
My bad,,, the White Stripes /Lord Sutch version is completely different than the Link Wray version.....of course the guitar intro that I heard has a similar style to Link Wray,,, totally two different songs,, my bad
The problem with this video is that the person playing Peter Gunn is the exact opposite of Peter Gunn. He was supposed to be a private eye, but had a totally different style to most of the noir private eyes. Gunn was supposed to be well-groomed and suave, not a guy who looked like he fell asleep in a trash bin with a bottle of whiskey and a wet dog.
@Jelle528 I don't think so - that riff was from the theme song from a TV series in the late 1950's? You and the "White Stripes" probably weren't born yet.
Its Rik Mayall, a comedian contemporary of Hugh Laurie. Also a skinny public school posh boy (as oppposed to the more commonly seen pudgey posh boy) ;)
