I graduated, had about 57 grand in debt. But I knew that going in. what's the surprise? Been a year since I graduated and I'm still applying for my dream job. Though meantime I work two part time jobs (that don't require anything but a GED) and making decent money. My friends say I shouldn't lower my standards... fuck that, I've started to make payments on my loans and don't live with my parents... I'll get my dream job when I get it.

Community College, you can take 2 years full load (plus more) for 10k. Transfer to a good school and apply for grants, you can get a good degree for next to nothing.

When I was a teen, I always wanted to go to college because I wanted a brain stem. Glad I was actually smart enough not to go to college. College grads are like robots. They can't think for themselves but only what the institution taught them.

Like you, I wanted to go to college because I want to have a college degree. Went to the Junior College in Idaho for two years before I have to quit because they have put me on Academic Suspension for low grade. That, plus I have to moved out of Idaho to California.

Well, you have to know what Universities were originally for. Originally...they were merely a center for intellectual discussion and knowledge. They weren't meant for career building. TODAY....our society has kind of distorted things, where they are being used as Trade Schools....!!! So that's the big discrepency. That's why you're learning so many things that aren't even part of your career focus. It's meant for intellectual development, not career. Companies need to know this.

Definitely! Even if you were to graduate finding a job in your field of work is a gamble. That employer decides if they want to hire you and if they don't hire you, you're on your own especially if you never had a job before. The truth is no college let alone anyone else cares whether or not you have a job.

Everything that he talks about applies basically to anyone wanting to get into business. For me your idea of success wont work out. I need a college degree to get a commission in the Marine Corps, I need a college degree to get into law school after the Corps and I will certainly need a degree to get a job with upper management in an already respected and dominant company. If you don't want to goto college then looking for ways to better your chances in the working world is the way to go.

@disappears I like what you just said. All college does is make empty promises to people that they'll have work before or after they graduate. My mom and her friend both went to the same university and the both raked in thousands of dollars in debt. My mom's friend has a job with the government making $60,000 at the Dept of Labor but his debt from college other things is $90,000. That's almost six figures!
