that is such an awesome snake shes beautiful i would just like to say that that is an awesome enclosure u built and even if u didnt its still awesome i love the way the bedding looks in there have u tried other beddings and do the snakes like a specific one and how well does that hold humidity, it is aspen right? well anyways awesome vid and please answer my questions
@MrLeonofkings - thanks :) the guy in the vid built it. This is actually pine bedding, some folks say never use pine, but we havnt had a problem with it (this is the only cage we use it in) The cage was built to maintain a high humidity level, as she's a tropical snake.
@TheFlopaSkaters Dexter is 8 ft now and she will top out around 12 ft. males only get about 10 ft. long. reptiles grow fastest when young then grow slowly the rest of their lives. total length will depend on their life length. dexter hit six foot long when the was two years old, she is now 10 yrs. old and weighs about 40-45 lbs.
Nice snake, nice cage. Nothing against americans, but your cage looks fkn great compared to 90% of the other cages Ive sawn from american uploaders. Very animal-friendly!! greetings from germany
@rlohnes1 nice cage man, that kind of wood shavings are not the best choice but it's a well cared snake, check out my new terrarium vid..mby u like it.
@86Trancer - you do hear over and over not to use pine shavings, but for some reason, it's the only kind that Dexter likes, and hasn't caused any health problems.
cool man...nice place for her habitat...really creative. I have a boa about 4.5 ft and looks skinny I guess it weight about like 3lbs I feed it medium rats every 2 weeks... But I want one like yours that looks heavy can I which food to bigger size? Would it be a problem for their growth and health? thanks..
@blacktek781 yea a 4 and a half foot boa fed a med rat every week is perfect. once it gets into large rats its best to wait just a little bit longer like a week and a half to 2 weeks and then if it ever gets any bigger than that maby 3 weeks? im not so sure on large prey. but frozen makes the process way easier. just a heads up
wow love the cage that is a cage : ) good idea to. wow nice snake she is small lol from what i heard then can get to she nice size for her age. how you got her to stay that size ? some people get 10 feet or more out of them.
quick question how big is she and wut u feed here i got a 61/2-7 footer i cant tell she never stays still but shes at least 80 inches and i was wandering if u should feed her rabbits? thanks for the insight ans nice setup
How offten do you feed her? Because i heard that when you feed rabbits you feed only once a month. Did you raise it from a baby or brought her that size all ready? I own one myself but no where that size yet! Mine only 2 1/2 to 3 feet long! And eating small rats every 2 weeks! what can i do to get him/her to get big fast?

I would switch to feeding her more often, then eventually switch her to bigger food. Don't over do it, or your snake will become obese.

So did you buy her as baby? And how offten do you feed her?
damonta612 2 years ago
She was about 18" when Brett brought her home. She only eats every 4-6 weeks now, but she ate more frequently when she was younger.

How much did it cost to build a cage like that? That set up is very nice! Where did you get that back ground from?
damonta612 2 years ago
I think brett spent about $500 building it. I painted the background for him myself :)
rlohnes1 2 years ago
Got damn thats a big ass boa! What do you feed her to keep her happy!
damonta612 2 years ago
she weighed in at 36 pounds her last feeding. Small rabbits seem to keep her happy.

the large tank Brett is leaning on houses a breeding pair of children's pythons.
the little ten gallon has pygmy chameleons.
