I'm a first time mom, and completely new to the idea of cloth diapering. Do you ever pre-soak your diapers in order to disinfect before washing? If so, what do you use? I've read that you can use water, baking soda and tea tree/lavender oil, but I want to be sure to disinfect them as well as keep them smelling fresh. Any ideas? Thanks!
@downtoawhisper I don't pre-soak them every time but I like to pre-soak them every few months or so to freshen them up a bit. When I do pre-soak I keep it simple and fill the washer with hot water, add 4 tbsp of detergent (I use Tide powder original), add my diapers, let the washer agitate for a few minutes and then shut if off and let them soak in the washer overnight. In the morning I restart the cycle and let it finish. Then I follow with 2 additional hot washes with no detergent.
Very informative! I'm considering making cloth diapers to sell, and since my 'babies' are 20, 22, and 23, I'm a little rusty on the particulars! Thanks for the info...
I saw a few videos about how to change a cloth diaper, but they only seemed to cover the basics, like how to fold it or change a pee diaper. I know they certainly won't all be pee diapers! Thanks for the tips & advice! I'm glad to know that breastfed baby's poo diapers can go straight in the washer!
Only problem I had was that I couldn't hear a word you said (audio prob?), so I used "transcribe audio" for captions. It didn't seem to quite understand your accent, so some funny sentences in there.
do you use the biodegradable liners with the inserts??? or just the liners?
