I'm also waiting to hear back from a guy on the G&G forums. Buying a 1944 M44 for $120 + shipping. I don't know if it's a Tula or Izzy yet, but either way I don't care as it will be my second, but only M44 now. Definitely excited to keep the Mosin collection expanding.
I like that '36 Izzy. That's one of the early round receivers and in a pre war stock. NICE! Last night I went to Dunhams, they had 8 Mosins. I had the guy take them all out one at a time so I could look at them. All were Izzy's until the last one, I was hoping for a Tula and it was a 1944 Tula 91/30. Wartime stock, brass endcaps, all matching, sharp bore. $89 bucks out the door. Not rare, but not as common as all the Izzys are from every year of the 91/30 production.
i went to gander mountain with my brother and i got a mosin nagant m91/30 Tula "MO" 1930/53 and a guy walks up to me and he said he was going to get that rifle and i said if you came 10 minutes earlier you would hav got it.so we talked mosin talk and as we were done talking me and my brother walked away with the rifle and my brother (hes into k98's) said you people who like mosin nagants are like a breed.hahaha
Hey everyone. Just got a 91/30 today. It has oil on the barrel and other parts. Now, im no gun genius and just got into them. Do I need to clean the oil off and how? Also when do I know when I can shoot it,
@Psychoticilluzions Its cosmoline just cleaned it off mine yesterday what I did it disassembled it ( if a russian peasant can do it you can by watching a youtube video the bolt is slightly more tricky but still easy ) I used a no residue break de-greaser clean it up spray the degreaser down the barrel I made the mistake of forcing the ram rod down the barrel luckily I was able to get it out w/ a pair of pliers what i would do is buy 550 paracord tie several knots in it soak in bore cleaner pt 1
@Psychoticilluzions That is the cosmoline that it is packed it to prevent rust. DO NOT SHOOT IT TILL YOU CLEAN IT OFF THE GUN AND OUT OF THE BARRELL!!! There are a ton of videos on here showing you how to do it
The circle is actually a maker's mark from the man who made it which is very, very rare but yes it does actually say CCCP in the circle as a form of pride and nationalism for CCCP (Soviet Union) lucky bastard.
@4412jj go to buds gunshop dot com they have them for $109 and free fast shipping. I just got one from there and it's in good shape for a 70 year old rifle (1942 Izhevsk basic 91/30 Matching serials) Cabela's tends to be overpriced :P
I really want to get one of these at the local cabelas but it's 150 bucks and not on sale as of now. It's the exact same thing obviously, but the only issue is they don't let you look at it. I'm afraid of buying one and either getting a lemon that doesn't fire or one that is corroded and has terrible looking wood on it. Can anyone dispel my concerns?
Gorgeous weapon. I am looking into buying one this year with tax returns money coming in. I've been reading about it and looking at videos of it and I think it could be an aweson gun for my 1st time.
my mosin nagant has on the side of it a6469 ussr 91/30 7.62x54r lai albion NY what do these mean? and production numbers match bolt and barrel and internal magazine is 3074.
dude you love you.. some Nosin nagants ha ha ha, but i feel you man the history is amazing.. totally amazing i also love history especially military history.. and u can check weaponology and see the development of civilization.. as countries conquered other countries...
Also, the 91/30 was never called the Mosin-Nagant in the Soviet Union. Just Mosin. Also, Windex isn't necessary to clean after corrosive ammo. The important part is the water, ammonia doesn't even help, chemically. Cold water rinse, followed by a brass brush and CLP.
Nice '36, even if it is an Izzy. Looks like you have a wartime stock with some cool cartouches. Cool dark wood too. That '39 is nice too, I love the red paint they used on the rear sight ladder. Another wartime stock on the second one. You got lucky with those two. I just picked up 10 91/30's from AIM, they are all laminated Izzy's and aren't quite as nice as yours. My '32 Tula is very nice though, but is in a postwar stock...
Had a chance to buy a tula but i dexided to go withe the oldest rifle they had in the store 1938 but now that i think about i kinda wish i bought it!!!
At the cabelas here in fort worth tx we have them set out for you to choose the best looking ones Ive bought 2 so far going back for more. One 42 and 43
Good vid. Happy with my mosin. I'm sure you've been told or know but the symbol on the butt is CCCP/hammer&sickle is an abbreviation for the old Soviet Union.
Hungarian M44s are getting harder to find (actually all M44s have become very ellusive to importers seeking them), so I would recommend against Duracoating it which would detract from it's collectability. A Russian M44 or 91/30 would make more sense to coat, as they are far more numerous. BTW, some of my uncle's trained with them during their mandatory military service in Hungary during the 1950s and 60s and I'm sure that other relatives were shot at by 91/30s in WW2. Enjoy the history!
ive got one ive sent 100s of patches through that will not come clean. It seems to have a poor barrel rifling and is pitted dark bore. But it shoots. Did you ever add the monte carlo stock. My ATI stock is a project i havent finished yet. I need to remove lots of material still
Damn tha's a great deal... I got mine for $115; no accessories just the gun. It's been rearsenaled so most of the serial numbers don't match, It's a 1940 tula 91/30. I wish I would have got mine from cabelas so i could have gotten all the goodies. plus yours is in way better shape.
I just picked one at a local gunshop that had a sale on them for 99.00 and with tax and a box of ammo came out to be 120.00..Not bad if you ask me.They had 10 on sale and i picked the last one and about 5 minutes later a guy came in and ask for one as i was filling out my paper work.mines a 1943 and the fts kinda banged up and the finish where the bayonet was is gone.I also picked up a Ruger 10/22 i had on layaway at another gunshop.so its been like Christmas in January for me today.lol
@venosam learn to use iron sights before a scope, then once ur good add on a Russian reproduction pu scope. Ammo is 18 cents a round for surplus tins ( 70$ for 440 rounds)
Im currently 16 years old, extremely jealous of you! I have shot a few rifles and pistols before. I plan to buy a .357 S&W revolver and this gun. What scope would you recomend and how much is the ammo, averaged.
"It's like a Cracker Jack box... but with a gun in it."
That needs to be on a shirt.
You got some beautiful rifles, especially the second one you unboxed the best. Mine has the lighter color like the top one of the three on the flag (probably because of the production year 1943 for mine).
1. Izhevsk not Izamash. I do the same thing all the time.
2. Do the numbers match on the new ones?
3. How do you clean yours before firing?
4. 7.62x54r.net is a great site to explain the markings
glorious!!! i want a rifle, i'm a history buff, and a college student...the 91/30 is just a natural choice!! are they good deer rifles? i'm guessing so since the 7.62x54R round is like the 30-06 if i'm not mistaken...your thoughts?
@makethetransition00 Terrific deer rifle,(based on knowledge, not expierence) except my homestate of Indiana you can only hunt with pistol cartriges in rifles , but I have recently aquired one, it is a great rifle and the commentator is very correct, it is just full of history, and the ammo question, the 7.64x54R round is slightly smaller then a 30-06, and slightly larger than a .308, so yes a very high powered round.
that little pouch is too keep the the multi-tool and the other little metal cleaning rod stuff in well at least thats how mine cam with all that stuff in it
wow, you are a mosin freak lol, nice video man, they are beautiful and extremely affordable firearms, nice vid man. oh btw i love how you're just like "OW! thats the bayonet" lol
great video man, it really is a piece of history, and they are beautiful rifles. at 99 bucks, you can't frickin beat that, its ridiculous!! Just ordered mine today :)
the lil pouch is for the cleaning kit. you can put it in there, tie it up so it doesn't fall out and then just stuff it in a pocket leaving the pouches free for ammo
I traded out some ink work for one awhile back, came with 10 packs of steel tip rounds... things will shoot through anything. I need to get more ammo now!
If law enforcement is ever unable to do their jobs or cannot keep up with the crime (Like during the LA riots, for example), you can distribute them to your neighbors and keep your homes from being looted.
There are plenty of scenarios where having lots of guns and ammunition on hand is a very beneficial thing.
That is a very nice setup! I love all the accesoires that come with it. In this day & age of polymer and aluminium, it's nice to see some wood and steel. Subbed!
Hey man they may not be Tula's but you ended up with two beautiful pre-war stocks! Very cool. You can find Tula's in my area but we don't see pre-war stocks much anymore. If you really want to add a few Tula's to your collection call my bud at Billsco Sales in Varnell GA 706-271-6515. ask for Bill. Neat bunch of Mosin's you have there brother.
just turned 16 and i got a hex with all matching serial numbers..barrel bolt magazine even the butt plate...got it for 120 and it was made in 34...i pray someday ill get a collection like that because for me expecially with these rifles....every gun has a story and every gun has a destinay all its own...i mean who wlda thought a rifle made at the peak of stalins power would end up in the hands of a redneck in upstate new york...thanks for the vid def gonna subscribe and keep um coming
You can legally hunt deer with this caliber in SC and probably most other states as well. The bullet is between the .308 Winchester and the .30-06. The .308 Winchester is essentially a 7.62 Nato (7.62x51) military cartridge. The Mosin Nagant is 7.62x54R (rimmed). All 3 calibers are .30 caliber bullets, as is the 30-30. The Mosin has greater muzzle velocity than the 30-30 and you will probably be shooting a heavier bullet as well. You may need to shop around for the right ammo though.
@PersonWithAnAccount7 its a battle rifle, not a hunting rifle. WW2 as i said, over 10,000 people, but im not really the expert here so you should probably ask someone else lol
@1233atm i dont know if you aware with hunting rifles but the mosin nagant is the same caliber as a marlin 30-30 or a 30-06 (.3 of an inch wide). knowing that this is the same caliber as regular hunting rifles, i was curious if this battle gun is legal to hunt with.
i just saw something that mad me sad for you. at around 9:15 you put the bolt into the gun w/o cleaning the cosmoline off of the locking lugs. not a problem but now there is more cosmoline in the action of the gun. going to be a pain in the ass to clean haha.
Can you tell me if those herters are steel-core? the range i go to will not let you use steel-core, and i saw those at cabelas and wanted to try them out.
Nice Slipknot tat! I've got one too.

the lil pouch is for the cleaning kit. you can put it in there, tie it up so it doesn't fall out and then just stuff it in a pocket leaving the pouches free for ammo

Beautiful weapon. Shame that, despite the aussie dollar being stronger than ever, a normal price I've seen for a Mosin-Nagant is around $380
in the US its $100. stupid economics

Thanks for the video. It's nice to see the "un-boxing" from Cabelas. This rifle is a blast and IMO a great bargain.

You may need to shop around for the right ammo though.

can you hunt deer with this gun?
PersonWithAnAccount7 3 months ago
@PersonWithAnAccount7 this gun has killed over 10,000 people so... MAYBE?
1233atm 3 months ago
@1233atm what i mean by that is can you LEAGALLY hunt deer with that gun. their are tons of rules and restrictions when it comes to hunting deer
PersonWithAnAccount7 3 months ago
@PersonWithAnAccount7 its a battle rifle, not a hunting rifle. WW2 as i said, over 10,000 people, but im not really the expert here so you should probably ask someone else lol
1233atm 3 months ago
@1233atm i dont know if you aware with hunting rifles but the mosin nagant is the same caliber as a marlin 30-30 or a 30-06 (.3 of an inch wide). knowing that this is the same caliber as regular hunting rifles, i was curious if this battle gun is legal to hunt with.

i just saw something that mad me sad for you. at around 9:15 you put the bolt into the gun w/o cleaning the cosmoline off of the locking lugs. not a problem but now there is more cosmoline in the action of the gun. going to be a pain in the ass to clean haha.
