Presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s campaign catch-phrase, “Keep America American,” was a central theme of Ku Klux Klan publications and threats towards African-Americans and other minorities in the early 1900s
I'm a Ron Paul supporter and I don't think Ron Paul is racist, but I'm very disappointed how he has handled the issue. You don't need to convince me he isn't racist, but to everyone else who is wondering how any of this was able to be published in his name and no one knowing for sure who did, some people see it as Ron not caring that those letters went out. There is nothing indicating Ron tried to find out who did it, it just "happened". Makes me mad because he is being painted as a racist.
@RangerMcFriendlie Because couldn't get elected president with admitting of racism. I repeat what he's on record saying before deciding to run for president. On record saying he didn't support the civil rights bill, saying a restaurant owner should have the right to only serve whites if he wants. I find these old interviews through easy research, I suggest doing your own. What a man says on camera 20 years ago is relevant today to whats in his heart. Not what his campaign manager makes him say.
@hakaboy6924 I totally agree with his criticism of the civil rights act, and explain it in my video "Ron Pauls, Woolsworth, and the Civil Rights Act" opposing legislation doesn't mean you oppose it's desired outcomes, that's sucha cheap tactic. It's like when republicans say if your against the patriot act your against national security.
@hakaboy6924 Paul would also support a restaurant owner having the right to only serve blacks if he wants. If people choose to exclude a chunk of potential business, that's their right (and their loss, financially). Paul supported repealing Jim Crow laws, but DID NOT support the violation of private property that was included in the Civil Rights Act. We must respect private property in a free society. And in a free society, ALL people are entitled to interact with whomever they choose.
@LawrenceAugust I personally believe people deserve the right to service attention and respect from all amenities regardless of color and I believe this right should be protected by law. I know several communities that would love to be all white and by blocking a few services it could be achieved. I dont see this as a advancement as a country or race relations in any way
@hakaboy6924 I would much rather see a shop owner show his true colors so I know not to patronize his business. It's like censorship, when you look at it. If we don't allow people to express what they REALLY feel, we have no idea where they stand and thus cannot evaluate our interaction with them in any meaningful way. A racist shopkeeper would be ostracized by most. Jim Crow laws were disgusting-- but private property is essential to granting liberty to ALL-- even those we don't agree with.
@LawrenceAugust That is were we differ I would rather African American/Mexican people be served and live where they want and can afford, not just in the communities and businesses that will except them. Equality to me trumps any personal rights I may perceive myself to have. Regardless of Ron Pauls morals I can't vote for someone who cant run a newsletter
@hakaboy6924 Equality means I get to choose and you get to choose. If you tell me I HAVE to let you come on to my property, you're violating my right to choose what I wish to do with that which is mine and who I want to associate with. You will get equal right to tell me to leave your property as well. That's equality.PS I would encourage you to realize all that Ron Paul CAN do well. Wikipedia will provide you an exhaustive list. A man doesn't get to his position by chance and without intellect.
@hakaboy6924 "Forcing" integration is a sketchy prospect, truthfully. Look at a typical lunchroom in a school of mixed ethnicities. By and large, people sit with those of like backgrounds. You will see *some* natural segregation. It's not a bad thing, really-- it's people just relating to each other. Same with all the clubs that people form-- voluntarily. I don't see it as racist if I'm not let in an Asian American study group because I realize that *SOME* people like to identify within groups.
@hakaboy6924 Public services should absolutely be protected by law. Agreed. The issue is private property. There has to be consistency, is the point. And to allow the Federal Gov't. to dictate who an individual "must" allow onto his property is to infringe on that individual's right to property. I don't agree with people that discriminate, but that's the point. I don't have to. And I don't have to go into his place of business, either. He has choice. So do I. That's freedom. That's liberty.
@LawrenceAugust My point is if you live in a small town in Florida / South Carolina and your family always has for generations, This small town has 1 general store 1 gas station and 1 church. Imagine Ron Paul gets elected and you cant shop buy gas or worship because you also happen to be black and are forced to move because nearest town in 30 miles away. I know towns that would love this and to me if you dont wish to serve everyone get out of serving the public
@hakaboy6924 In your scenario, I would really question the family who would want to shop at a general store owned by a racist, get gas from a racist, and worship at a church full of racists. I would happily move to get away from that. As far as wishing to serve everyone-- ALL individuals' liberty and choice should be served, above all. Your scenario about the small town implies that these people are victims without choice, held captive. It's not government's job to force people to accept you.
@LawrenceAugust The government job is definitely not to force people to accept you, I never claimed it was. But it is definitely the governments job to protect peoples rights, and I believe that is to be treated equally and not to be judged by color or race. I am bored with the conversation, you wish to vote for the Doctor good for you, I think he is a crazy old fool who cant run a newsletter in his own name with crazy conspiracy theories, and it seems so do the voters
@hakaboy6924 I never said I would vote for him-- I just understand the moral argument at play here. And I believe government must protect our right to choose.
Moral argument I put forth:
Do I have the right to your money without your consent? No.
Do you have the right to my goods and services without my consent? No.
Do I have the right to make you work for me without your consent? No.
Do you have the right to make me hire you without my consent? No.
@LawrenceAugust I know towns that would love to be white only, I know houses in the south that still today have covenants on the property saying only whites can purchase the house. I believe liberty and freedom are important but never to the point where you jeopardize or remove someone else's and that is where Ron Paul is wrong.
@hakaboy6924 There might be towns that would love to be Black only. I know towns that ARE Korean only, lol. I mean, seriously... you act as if this is a one way street. But most importantly-- You're also implying heavily that this "town" is reflective of ALL the individuals within it. That's a collectivist thought and has nothing to do with PERSONAL liberty. Keep digging deeper with this-- "society" is nothing but an aggregate of individuals, all with their own rights. Collectivism doesn't work.
Great video! My wife is black. Kids are mixed. I believe and support Ron Paul. If this is the worst they can come up with, then he is BY FAAAAAAAR the best candidate.
If you've ever listen to him talk or read his writings and then look at the quotes, you can see that whoever wrote these things was using a very dumbed down, un-educated, and small minded vocabulary. I find it very hard to believe he said these things but what I find even harder to believe is that these are direct quotes from him.
He either allowed someone to write in his own name as he said or himself said 95% of the black men in Washington DC are either semi - criminal or entirely - criminal. The name of the publication you couldn't conveniently remember is called the "Ron Paul Report"
@hakaboy6924 did you watch the video, and yes he did have ghost writers and he wasn't supervising them cause he was back in Texas at the time being an OBGYN
@AlexMerced Personally I believe if you cant manage a newsletter that is in your name I'm not keen on him taking control of the Whitehouse in the name of his presidency. These Ghost writings went on for 20 years
@hakaboy6924 Ron Paul has stood alone for his views.. He has been called all sorts of names for them. If he was racist he would stand on that platform! He has done that on everything else that so many didn't agree with so why would he lie or change his mind if he was racist?
@fcspike I repeat do would I vote for someone who cant manage a newsletter which is in there name to not report racist bigotry to to run the country?. No I wouldn't I like everything he says and stands for, but his excuses for how and why the comments were made do not stand up to logical thought to me
@hakaboy6924 With what he says and stands for he has hurt the cause of the racists. don't you see that? He talks about blacks being treated unfairly in the justice system and everyone being seen singular and not in groups. If he were a racist he is hurting the cause big time because after listening to him, people are coming away believing we should treat everyone with respect and all deserve liberty. Why would a racist want to mislead people like that? how would that help them?
@fcspike I repeat I only going by his own words in interviews from the past and his words in print, I am not commenting on pundits or spin doctors either he's racist when a doctor and when running for president isn't now isn't.Or he cant manage a newsletter that he owns, that is in his name that prints racist, jokes, comments stories over 2 decades (he supposedly didn't notice) either way to me he isn't fit to manage a country if he cant a newsletter. And to defend him I find repulsive
Alex, in case you didn't see the article. Then you can google the article about the President of the NAACP stating specifically that he is NOT racist. Now I think he's more of an authority on the subject, rather than those seeking to smear his character. Those newsletters were not even written in Ron Paul's manner.
@AlexMerced Reading over my comment, it came off as confrontational towards you, haha. It was poised at those who accuse him of such. Thanks for spreading the truth!
@wood9670 I would challenge that statement. 90% of Americas hear something on the radio or on the news and believe it to be fact especially when coming from establishment shills. Once you sell yourself to that camp even with the most solid proof it is almost impossible for them to acknowledge it.
