I agree with prausch65, this organ doesn't sound right at all in this theater. It doesnt have that amazing sound it had when it was at The Fox Theatrre ! !
@ShakinJonny yes, the Mighty Wurlitzer can play in instruments such as:
violin
Trombone
Drums
and many, many, many more. you are obviously not an organ enthusiast, and are not realizing that this is in a theatre where people are talking, and is not filmed with high quality microphones, and is not next to the pipe chambers.
On the right of the keydesk, below the horseshoe (same location as the lift controls on the left) there is a junction box with a large red mushroom-shaped button on it, obviously an addition. The red button has had a scared-looking Stitch figure attached to the top. Does anyone know what this controls?
@djbjr1130 Thanks. I had assumed the console lift controls were the red and yellow buttons in the same spot on the left. Toggle switches (instead of pushbuttons) are an interesting addition to the left keycheeks, too...
I had the good fortune to have this man for my drama and music teacher in High School. He used to have a huge pipe organ in his home and when he would play Phantom or Star Wars or something equally difficult, it was just wonderful to hear!
When he played at the senate theater in detroit i was running the theater and i came in and he was playing the theme from pirates of the carribian i ran out to grab my camera. I have the video but its not in my youtube but i will give you the link to where you can see it. =-)
The organist if obviously talented but the organ belongs back at the Fox. The organist if just "surviving," because the audience is there for everything but he playing, (and he seems to know it!_
I have heard the songs this magnificent instrument played at its original home at the Fabulous Fox, and the acoustics are so wrong at the El Capitan theater for this organ ,its practically doing it an injustice.
As a kid I used to go up to the city to listen to this performances at the Fox. I was so sad when it was torn down.
I agree with you that it El Capitan does not do it justice.

I thnk the audience would listen more intense if he would play something they could relate to.
And why does even such a Big beautiful organ still sound like SHIT??
is it not possible to make organs that DONT sound like organs???

Amazingly ignorant audience - perhaps they were children? Great performance, though.

Thank goodness the beautiful organ was saved from the worst Theater fate in the history of the world. The World lost the Fabulous Fox Theater.

it takes talent to master 5 manuels like this guy does. And not to mention 6 or 7 expression pedals

I believe there are only 4 manuals.

It would be nice if the audience would SHUT UP and listen.
