After John Amos left, this show wasn't as funny as it used to be. (Actually, John Amos was fired from the show.) It started to go down the tubes. Even in the next to the last season, the kids were left on their own, but Willona checked in on them. JJ was filling his late father's shoes as head of the house and working at an advertising agency. But then of course, JJ lost that job and when Florida came back for Thelma's wedding, she took a job as a school bus driver.
