  • Imagine how Gryphon would have been like if John Williams was their lead guitarist...

  • I first saw John Williams over 40 years ago when he was the "hot young classical guitarist" in a concert at Purdue University. Well neither of us are young anymore, but he's still hot!

  • I have only recently discovered Richard Harvey. How did I somehow miss him? I'm a classical guitarist and I listen to a LOT of orchestral music. But this guy is seriously a talented composer! Now I see that he not only composes and conducts, but that he performs on just about any instrument as well. This was a FANTASTIC clip and everyone owes it to themselves to watch it.

  • When will he be in Montreal, Canada???? Does he have a Web site??

  • I have listen to this at brakefast for a couple of days....and i must say...its a damn good way to start the day! =D

Verry nice! and thank you verry much OakenConsort for the upload!

  • I just love listening to John Williams. He always transform music in a way that is more magical. How I wish I could learn from him personally.

  • awesome

  • In case people don't know, the DVD of this whole John Williams & Richard Harvey concert has been released at last. I got it through CDsouk.com last week... They look like they're really enjoying themselves and the sound is really good.

  • John & Richard are now doing UK concerts in the UK in May 2011, at Sturminster Newton, Ilfracombe, Woking (8 May), Maidstone (10 May), Eastbourne, Reading and the Norfolk & Norwich Festival on 16 May.

  • @OakenConsort ...and there's a charity concert for the MAE Foundation (the charity that takes musical instruments and teaching to the refugee kids from Burma in the Thai border camps) at St Mary Brookfield on Friday 13 May 2011 as well. Great music, great evening, great cause. Spread the word!!

  • @OakenConsort love to see john williams live hes a legend

  • @OakenConsort saw them in Woking on the 8th. Unbelievable

  • Williams is plugged in! Sounds great, wonder if it's a Shadow system.

  • Just watching John's face while he plays is already a great pleasure to me. His expression really makes his music more alive and imposing.

  • Just seen they've put up YouTube clip from world premiere of Richard Harvey's new Recorder Concerto, played by Michala Petri. Magnificent.

  • Dear OakenConsort,

Who is the designer for those amazing speakers positioned behind them in this concert? ( And thank you for posting this terrific clip.)

    Regards,

    6silverbeams

  • @6silverbeams They are almost certainly Fujitsu ten hifi speakers...Eclipse. Amazing speakers and obviously powerful enough to fill aconcert hall if that's all that was there......

  • is that music flamenco?

  • @abby161919 ha abby, your question made me laugh for for the first time today!!!!!

    its not flamenco ,nor classical>>

  • @OakenConsort

Could you put the link for this dvd? I can't seem to find it at CDSouk. Thanks.

  • amazing! just getting into classical music. and i love this . outstanding

  • wow! lovely playing, what a treat. thanks for this!

    wordofgord

  • 7:19,LOL. john williams is like, i swear i didnt do nothing.

wow, he doesn't even know what he did. guess its so amazing , and wonderfully tallented that not many can do what they just did. Williams , knows his guitar in a level, not comprehensible to us all.

  • This is great! thank you for sharing. I had the pleasure of going to a John Williams concert in march, he is the best.

  • Yip-pip-pip-yippee! Done it. Train up, lift back and Kingston is mine! Never mind it being a Monday night, I'll be there. Hurrah. Did I mention I'm looking forward to it so much...? They can play Enfield Dances for me if they like...

  • Oh no.... It's a Monday. I'd love to come down to Kingston, but a 100mile round trip's no good during the week.

  • In case you haven't seen it yet, they've posted another clip from the Aichi concert this week, with JW and Richard ripping through a perky little Irish-flavoured jig. Great stuff, as always.

  • Oakenconsort, hi thank you for uploading this vid. Richard Harvey composes very beautiful music. i have the first movement of Richard Harvey's concerto antico ALBORADA in my channel. I really have to ask you if you info as to where i could find the sheetmusic of this concerto? please, it would help very much

  • I saw the concert ANTICO in your channel, are very beautiful film and music. I recomend for all.

  • pantomicino thank you very much for viewing my channel. That's not even the best part of the concerto, i'll keep in touch with you! guitarists have to know this beautiful concerto! regards

  • Hi spruceorcedar. Thanks for the invitation, I accept. You're right players must know the concert, and I sent it to my niece who is studying classical guitar. I find recently Gryphon and Renassaince groups and I believe they´re goods.

  • GRYPHON REUNION: Richard Harvey's 1970s "mediaeval rock" band, Gryphon, is at QEH London on 6 June for a unique one-off unplugged reunion concert. Augmented line-up with the great Graham Preskett (the man Hollywood chose to put the mandolin in Captain Corelli's Mandolin). Few tickets left at last check.

  • Hoy es 6 jun 2009. Se reune Gryphon en London.

if you have notice about concert tell us.

  • Last night's reunion concert in London was magnificent. You can see people's enthusiastic comments on Twitter if you search for Gryphon and GryphonReunion. There are no further concerts scheduled, but it was so exciting that the band must be tempted...

  • Thank s criticalmess1

Do you know if recorded this reunion for disc?

  • It wasn't possible to record the reunion concert, which is a great shame. If there's any sort of follow-up, recording it will be a high priority.

  • An absolutely great concert. Have you got the whole video?

    Thanks!

  • Re Aichi concert video: Good news. Top quality DVD of the whole John Williams/Richard Harvey concert in Aichi is now scheduled for release in September.

  • Many thanks!

I'm very interested. Where can I get more information about this DVD?
