  • I was a little girl when this show was on so I didn't see most of the seasons. What season is this? How did Claudia die? I'm in suspense now!

  • I wonder why La Mirage cleans it's draperies with gasoline???

  • i love claudias gown. gorgous

  • I love when Alexis said " Take this junk and your blonde tramp and get out of my home.

  • Great cliffhanger. Sadly it was the last for Catherine Oxenberg becuase she demanded more money and was fired and Pamela Bellwood wanted out since she gave birth that season and wanted to be with her newborn child.

  • Also, though they were never shown, it has been said that the pic that Claudia was looking at was of Lindsay and Matthew. I wonder what Claudia would have thought if she knew that Matthew wasn't dead? :-)

  • what season is it when Alexis takes over Blake's house?

  • funny how joan collins needed a body double when John Forsythe's Blake attacks her! What is up with that? LOL

Also, I felt bad for the Claudia character but she kind of ran her course on the show

  • @Aarona13760 JC always said that she used a body double because she didn't want to put anyone out of work by doing the scenes herself. Yep - Claudia did run her course, BUT there was much more to her death scenes than was shown. They were horribly edited. The full unedited scenes have never been aired.

  • @bluenail03

What happened in the full unedited versions of the scene? Do they explain anything further regarding Claudia's state of mind, or revile an alternate ending? Pls Respnd

  • @EveDonovan The unedited version(s) are nowhere to be found and I don't even know if they exist anymore. Claudia was only mentioned very briefly at the beginning of Season 7 when Adam tells Blake that she is dead, and her name is never mentioned again. Even when Matthew returned, though he mentioned Lindsay, he didn't even refer to Claudia by name.

  • @EveDonovan Oh, I forgot that Jackie mentioned Claudia briefly when she came out of her coma and said that it was Claudia who started the fire and not Blake.

  • Holy Smokes! Those drapes were highly flammable!

  • "So take this cheap, Argos catalogue shit and your bleached-blonde, bimbo, slut-tramp, whore and get the fuck out of my house, you blue-haired old fart!"

I've obviously missed my vocation in life.

  • So who won the fight?

  • @brinpol We never found out. The hotel burst into flames and Amanda got a new face and an american accent so God knows what was in that water!

  • @rees276 Yeah, they never addressed that did they? They just found Amanda in the hotel after she changed out of her wet clothes...

  • my fav episode!!! the last 3 seasons took a huge hit without claudia =(

  • @ANZAmoon

    Totally..

  • I REMEMBER THIS CLIFFHANGER.....

WHAT I COULDNT BELIEVE..............was that in the aftermath there wasnt a funeral or even a memorial service for the character of "Claudia"......The shows first set of writers and production staff were so great...but obviously as the show went on in those last couple of years, the quality of everything went right down the tubes......Claudia was one of the characters that got DYNASTY off the ground in the early years - what a slap in the face to Ms. Belwood....

  • @billyralphweeden

I know!! And Luke Fuller got a real moving death scene and a funeral and everything, but Claudia, an original character from season 1, on the show for about 6 seasons gets nothing more than an afterthought???? SO disrespectful to us viewers

  • Possibly the best cliffhangers in the whole series.

  • @chotzrary It could have been improved a bit. When Amanda said "I haven't finished with you yet!" she should have then ripped off Sammy Jo's top (I am sure she had no bra on because, well, she's Sammy Ho, I mean Jo). Amanda (pronounced Amonder) should have then slapped Sammy Jo's jugs - twice for good measure! Then, Sammy Jo sensing her opportunity, goes for it & begins groping/kissing Amanda. When they are finished, they look up to dozens of guests around the pool clapping (among other things!)

  • @redletter2008 Your probably right. After this well the show went into dreaded horror story hell. Sammy (HO) Jo, was really trash. But to me Claudia was the character after Alexis and Krystal.

  • @chotzrary The sequence where Claudia's room goes up in flames is just stupid. Why does she just stand there and makes a face while the room is engulfed in fire? Also, it is highly unlikely (even in '86) that a single candle flame could so quickly ignite. In fact, the entire curtain catches fire within seconds of the candle tipping over. This could only happen if accelerants were on the material, & even skanky Fallon would not have been so reckless with the materials in her "high end" hotel.

  • @redletter2008 It is stupid because they killed her off. But why she didn't run, I think she wanted to die. All those years of losing her mind over her daughter and husband, and well Steve. She just went off the deep end. As for Belwood, well she probably got tired of the producers writing her in and out of seasons.

  • @chotzrary Killing off Claudia in a huge fire was a good idea, but it could have been improved drastically. Recalling the death of Alice Garvey on Little House on the Prairie (where she is trapped upstairs with Mary's baby/breaks the window glass & screams for help), Claudia should have leaned out the window, her dress/bra burned off, & screamed for help from anyone other than Blake, Trampy Joe, Steven, Krystle, Alexis, Adam, Kristina, Dominique, LB, Fake Fallon, Jeff, Amanda, Kirby or Joseph!

  • @redletter2008 ROTFLMAO, I think all of them would stand there, stare at her die in flames, screaming and dying in pain. After it's all over they would shake their heads and say, "How did that happen". Poor, poor dear, the poor thing. And go back to the party.

  • @chotzrary Yeah, the Carringtons, and the Colbys for that matter, would never let the death of one of their own get in the way of a good party. Perhaps Trampy Joe would do another "brazen hussy" dance like she did at her wedding reception. Then Alexis could lead the gang in the conga followed by a rousing rendition of the Lambada led by drunk and topless Fake Fallon. In the end, Sammy Ho demonstrates her sexual prowess/contortion skills by beating Blake in the limbo contest! What a fun bunch!

  • They never should have killed off Claudia................she should have been put on the Colby''s spinoff so the show could have been more like Knots Landing along with Sammy Joe!

  • I loved Catherine Oxenberg as Amanda. She was one of the best on the whole show. She helped it in the later years and it was too bad they canned her. I also loved Claudia and she was possibly my favorite. I hated the direction the put her character. Though the fire scene IS TV CLASSIC.

  • I heard the actress that played Amanda got fired, which was really sad for I liked that actress Catherine Oxenberg.

  • This is like a cliffhanger tutorial.

  • This a good season ending, but just a couple of questions:

1.Why does Amanda look so outraged when it was her who pushed Sammy Jo into the pool?

    2. This might be a spoiler but why didn't Alexis kick Ben out of her newly acquired house or at least get mad at him after she called out to him for help but he held Krystle back from getting Blake off her and looked excited/amused?

  • 3. Why didn't Claudia just run out the door when the fire started to spread through out the room? She had plenty of time to get her ass out of there!

  • @gun15509 You mustn't try to make sense of soap opera plotlines. That way lies madness...

Seriously, as character deaths go, Claudia's was pretty weak. She was brought back for a couple of episodes, and then killed off because the producers were pissed at Pamela Bellwood. This is when Dynasty really started to go downhill.

  • @tonywrestles2 Why were they pissed at Bellwood? I think the pool fight is very weak here. Campy, yes, but no cliffhanger. (To top it off the next year had the entire hotel burnt down, and Amanda was suddenly inside trapped by flames!

  • @zaniac100

Pamela Bellwood had missed most of the previous season because she was pregnant, and then when she came back, she pulled a Joan Collins and tried to hold out for more money, thinking that the producers would cave. Unfortunately for her, they didn't.

This one is in the middle for me as far as cliffhangers go. Season Two was my favorite (Blake missing, the baby kidnapped, Cecil possibly dying) since it involved several different problems instead of one silly one like Moldavia.

  • @tonywrestles2 Thanks. I recall Claudia was off, then returned to testify against Blake at a trial, but was not in many scenes. Maybe a poor choice to go for more money since Claudia's storylines were getting a bit exhausted by then. My favourite was always Alexis and Krystle in the burning cabin.

  • @zaniac100 Pamela Bellwood was fired because she got pregnant and Aaron Spelling had a 'no pregnancy' mindset. Claudia's death scene was drastically cut from what they really filmed (the pic that she is holding in the frame was her dead daughter, Llindsay, but the producers decided not to show it at the last minute).

  • I wish Amanda would have said 'twat' instead of 'twit!' THAT would have been good TV!

  • BTW, did they ever explain as to why Amanda goes from Pool to suddenly lying unconscious under a table or chair in the hotel? I've only seen the jump to that scene in the opening of the next season with Cellini taking over.

  • @jadewarlock : Dominique said to Dex while looking for Jacky, that Amanda and Sammy Jo were on their way to her suite to dry their clothes.. think Amanda then just stumbeled and fell..

  • I hated seeing Claudia go like that. They could've done so much more crazy things with her. XD

Though I read Pamela wanted to leave to be a mother, which I get, I guess, but still. I loved Claudia best when she was nuts.

  • Claudia had ample opportunity to escape from that fire by turning and running out the door. But by that point, she was a fully fledged loony tune.

  • Well, as I said before, there were a lot of deleted material with Claudia's death. We'll never know why she didn't escape the room because of it.

  • Who the hell is this Karen Cellini they cast as a replacement for Amanda's character in the following season? She didn't even have a British accent.

  • They had a lot of "crazy" recasts; the original Fallon didn't have a British accent, but the second one did, while the first Amanda had the accent, but her replacement didn't, etc.

  • @texacobigred42 The first Fallon didn't have boobs, the second one did...

  • @zaniac100

Yes, and she tended to let them do her acting for her.

  • I agree - I always wished they had held off on Emma Samms and had Karen Cellini play Fallon. Had the roles been reversed - Samms as Amanda (even though I'd have fun seeing her with blonde hair) and Cellini as Fallon might've been better than what happened.

Unfortunately, they wanted to cast Cellini because she looked (! - she's three years older) like Oxenberg and Samms was already Fallon.

I think they realized that maybe firing Oxenburg was a bad idea afterall - cellini was OK, but not great.

  • this was a great scene to bad for claudia

  • According to Pamela Bellwood, there was a LOT more to her death scene, but it was cut up for whatever reason(s). THAT is a shame!

  • You mean that scene when Jackie saw while her runaway of the smoke a door that opens and saw Claudia rounded by the fire?

  • @TRAVISJAMES03

Does PB (or anyone for that matter) go into detail about the unedited version of the scene? I mean does it explain Claudia's state of mind or anything? pls rspnd

  • liars.....all of theemmmmmmmmm

  • (Blake and Alexis) F*ckin CLASSIC! I remember being a little gay boy watching that in my room in (85?).. That had to be THE BEST cliffhanger!

  • Me too!!!!

  • I remember the same thing! :)

  • How big is your ivory tower?

  • @ivorytower99 I know exactly what you mean! :)

  • Pamela Bellowwod was not pregnant when this was filmed. Her baby wa sborn at the end of 85 and this was filmed in early spring 86.

  • heather lockgear really annoys me in this! that's just personal lol

  • You know she's a Lakers fan, right?

  • lol omg that is a classic! i LOVED this show in its time and still love it now! I always laughed though at the "catfight" scenes or any other scene that involved some sort of physical contact cause they always had some guy dressed in drag or stunt "woman" to play Alexis and it looked so fake, if you pause it on when he's about to choke her you can see. But still such good trashy television...ah the 80's....so fun..

  • Best cliffhanger ever!!!

  • Heather looks pretty hot soaking wet!

  • I think Claudia should have come back in the Reunion mini-series,Heather Locklear had to shot the swimming pool fight, twice, once with Catherine Oxenberg, then one iwht Karen Cellini

  • Ammazzala Blake!

  • I think it would have made more sense to have Claudia's ceremonial candle lighting done by the front door-- that way when the candle got knocked over and lit everything on fire it would have made more sense that she didnt just run through the front door (because it would be on fire).

  • There was a lot of material that was not included concerning Claudia's death (why she didn't run out, etc., according to Pamela Bellwood). A shame that it wasn't included.

  • I always got the impression the fire was fast moving and Claudia, in her deranged state, simply couldn't get out of her way to escape.

  • what material are you referring to travis? why did they edit claudia's death scene? i'd think that'd be pretty shady on the dynasty powers tyhat be considering that claudia was one of the original cast members.

  • were can i find that interview with karen cellini?????

  • Walking backwards in heels was to dangerous for COllins. Stunt double!

I like how Ben is holding back krystle so blake can kill alexis so blake would go to jail! Hilarious.

  • Haha I always wondered what was so dangerous about this that she had to have a stunt double! One would assume Joan would be an expert in backwards heel walking by this time!

  • Pamela Bellwood is so terrific! I'm sorry Claudia died, I feel more sympathy for her character than any other, execpt perhaps Steven.

  • @bm237

Me too, i missed Claudia terribly, and they way they killed her off was awful

  • @EveDonovan - She did not deserve to die like that. And I hated how they didn't even have a funeral for her. There's a scene where Adam tells Blake that Claudia didn't WANT any funeral; but they STILL could have done SOMETHING decent in her memory.

  • catherine is just great! i preferred heather in melrose place!

  • Pamela Bellwood wasn't pregnant anymore when that episode was filmed. She had her baby during the five episodes that she missed. The producers were so furious because of the problems caused by her pregnancy (between the episodes "the proposal" and "the accident" she couldn't appeared in more than one scene per episode and was always in bed, behind a desk, or hiding her stomach with a bag or a peignoir) that they fired her. But they were guilty, they should have written her pregnancy in the show!

  • wow i neva new that. thanx fact

  • Claudia always reminded me of Joe 90. Just stick some glasses on her and there you go...

  • nad your blond tramp , lol alexies was such a bitch

  • .why did claudia die?

she could easly r out of that room

    when the fire started

  • I couldn't handle watching Emma Samms play Fallon, since originally the Fallon character was somewhat of a bitch and Emma's portrayal was somewhat sweet and kind and boring, even though Amanda's character was supposed to be somewhat of a bitch at the beginning, to me her character was somewhat lame and seemed more like the victim role...

  • Cosell should have called the pool fight--Sammi scores with the right hand, right there!! Amanda fights back! DOWN GOES SAMMI! DOWN GOES SAMMI!

  • I was sorry Claudia died in the fire, she should have came back later,to take the smug look of horrible Adam's face!

  • These scenes were FAB !

Best delivery of lines on the show !

    ((even Alexis squawking)) !

  • this is the only time where they had the guts to kill off a lead character....if they had done this more in previous seasons the show would have lasted much longer

  • @MaybeMan19 Yes too bad they killed the wrong one. I'm looking at dull Diahhann Carroll Dominique Devereaux here.

  • what is in Claudia's hands?

  • It's probably a photo of Lindsay, her daughter who died after season 1

  • I think maybe it´s a picture of lindsay - cause everything that ever counted for her was her daughter!

  • Are you sure? I remember a scene where Adam was crying, not just over the loss of Claudia, but also the baby she was carrying who perished as well...

  • are you thinking of Adam and Kirby?

  • What a dramatic use of "papers" - Papers, what papers?

  • They apparently washed curtains with gasoline in that hotel. 5-star service alright.

  • LOL! It's true... the fire spreads way too fast, and Claudia doesn't even run... I believe Claudia was pregnant with Adam's baby as well (they both perished in the fire)

  • Maybe the fabric was petro based! The scene should have had Claudia passed out on an excess of room service booze, candles going while Bocelli's "Time to Say Goodbye" plays on a CD player. The end chorus duet the candle falls, the drapes/photos catch on fire, melt in their frames, the end of the song shows a pic of Claudia/Matt/Lindsay melting. Song stops, the room is quiet with just the crackle of flames and Claudia dead asleep.

  • Actually, she was just pregnant in real life, not in the series, but it is obvious actress Pamela Bellwood was 'with child'. You should she him now (the child she was pregnant with while filming this scene), he's the IMAGE of her!

  • I thought she already had the child by this was filmed? She was pregnant during the massacre filming and visibly so by the disasterious season opener.

  • No, she was pregnant during her final episode. I never noticed naything during the s6 premiere.

  • she was pregnant halfway thorugh this season. you can see it how she always sits or laying in bed during the scenes!

she even was not in all of the episodes

  • Oh really? Is that why she doesn't appear the whole season? Never knew that! Thanks for the info. there!

  • what you mean? why celline didnt appear anymore??? or oxenberg?

  • Well, Catherine was fired, then re-cast with look-a-like Karen. Then Karen was fired, and Esther Shapiro blame the low-ratings on Karen. Now is that cruel, or what? The ratings were declining even before Karen was on the show. Karen later expressed her happiness that she was off the series and said the producers didn't know what they wanted. If you want to read the article, just ask me and I'll get it for you, it's quite a read. Guaranteed.

  • but they fired her because the network got so meany letters tat they didnt like the new amanda and that they should bring back catherine!

  • Yeah, true. But I don't think it was ALL Karen's fault.

  • no, i feel sorry for her! kind of like emma samms but aaron liked aaron but not karen

  • Yeah. But Karen's interview is VERY interesting about what she had to say about what went on behind-the-scenes! Esther Shapiro sounds like a true-blue bitch!

  • Yeah. But Karen's interview is VERY interesting about what she had to say about what went on behind-the-scenes! Esther Shapiro sounds like a true-blue bitch!

  • oh i can imagine! tell me, where can i see this interview?

  • @cc4505

OMG you would think they would have oh, i dont know,,, BROUGHT BACK CATHERINE????

  • @bennjr

I would say to the Dynasty powers that be,

You shouldn't have fired Catherine Oxenberg in the first place,(Or Pamela Bellwood for that matter) in the second place dont blame the actress YOU hired for the AWFUL writing. In the third place, if you were going to re-cast, THEN DO IT RIGHT and get an actress that fans will accept. An actress thats right for the role. In the fourth place, dont put the blame on anyone for YOUR sloppy DISMAL LAZY writing.

  • "Blake" set the curtain in blaze.

  • claudia always was a whack job

  • The writers could've used the fire as an excuse to "remake" Amanda from Oxenberg to Cellini -- were they that bored with the show by this time?

  • Good idea, because Amanda didn't change that much in looks when she was switched from Catherine and replaced by Karen next season. Karen's Amanda was better though, I just liked her more with an American accent.

  • Amanda would also have a nice plot line to work with for a change (recovering her damaged face, etc...)

  • They should have just killed Amanda off. Cellini was a disaster and was gone shortly after the next season started. The fans loved Oxenburg but never warmed up to Cellini. And it would have been Claudia's final revenge...she takes out Blake's daughter, because as she saw it, he took out her daughter.

  • the charakter of amanda was so popular...they didnt want to kill her! they even tried to get oxenberg back to the show after cellini was fired but she didnt want anymore!

  • Yeah, I think Catherine was bitter over the newspaper headlines about her termination from the show.

  • of course! she wanted more money because she got paid less from all the actors! i think the producers did a terrible mistake to fire catherine!

  • @cc4505 I agree. The girl who replaced her didn't last five minutes. I always thought it was a shame that Emma Samms and Catherine Oxenberg never appeared on screen together. They would have made fantastic sisters!!!!

  • @cc4505

There was NO good reason to fire Catherine Oxenberg. I mean tell her no, or talk about it, but to just fire her for asking for a raise????? AND THEN replacing her without taking the time to do it right? Bad Dynasty, BAD!!!

  • Hmm, good choices, Cellini even said that it was rumoured for Amanda to die when she took over the role but was never shown.

  • This was my FAVE DYNASTY cliffhanger!

  • The best catfight ever! "You look like a cat on a rainy night!" LOL

  • This reminds me of Hannukah for some reason... haha!

  • One of the greatest and most entertaining shows ever made!
