Making a rink is a LOT of work! Been there, done that! So much fun though! We have had "beauties" over the years, but it's a LOT of bull work, late nights flooding, etc. BUT, when you actually get to skate like Gretzky, and Lemieux,.....priceless!

I get that the goal was intense at the moment. But don't get that excited when some kid can lift a shot when a goalie goes down.

guys is it true if u skate in an outdoor rink your skates will get ruend?

cause i play hockey in an arena but ppl are telling me dnt use my skates in outdoor rinks

they might be thinking of synthetic ice cuz i hear those will dull ur skates easy but outdoor ice is fine dont worry bout it

I dont know if they reall y get ruined. After a period of time it createslittle chips in the skate blade but nothing a skate sharpen shouldnt be able to fix

You'll need to sharpen them more often especially if it's a frozen pond but it won't actually damage the blades as long as you dry them off before storage.

someone correct me if im wrong. Yes it does ruin skates. because some dirt or something bad could be on the rink and f up your skater. I would recommend to buy an extra pair of skates for outside and use your good skates for hockey games/practices.

@giannitodaro outdoor rinks dull the blades a lot faster, but if you sharpen them and dry them, there wont be any damage

@giannitodaro i live in west coast of finland, near the sea, so i have a pair of skates for indoor rinks and a pair for outdoor rinks. if the weather is usually there something like up to 10 celcius degrees, then it's better get a lil bit worse skates for outdoor rinks, because of the ice condition.

nice post guys. ugh, i hope you guys dont take a nice rink like that for granted. i live in northern jersey, and this year, i'd be lucky if i could just skate on a frozen pond close by. it kills me to see these videos in canada or the northern us of kids skating in awesome backyard rinks. i wish i lived up north! oh well. lol
