I tripped around 5 or 6 times in my twenties and like avedic stated, I felt like I was hurtling thru the universe. It's impossible to describe, but they were the most mindbending incredible experiences. Be careful as it is extremely powerful. You should only do it a couple times cause you can permanently damage your body. All things in moderation my friends. Also, ensure that you are in a good mental state of mind and not suffering from serious depression before doing it. Can you say bad trip?

However, I think, if you stare into the abyss too much, you may neglect your waking life.

this is excellent. some really open minded people amid the otherwise uptight and taboo ridden 50s. that woman's description is dead on. you really do feel like every mental boundary is dissolved and you see the world as it is...without any judgment...the way a new born infant would see the world. you realize, with a poignancy that is excruciatingly ineffable, that you are one with everything. there is no separation. nature, the universe, reality IS consciousness. a whole unity of being.

@dk2853 My friend took LSD and ended up in the mental hospital too. Though I don't blame the LSD. He did indeed have latent schizophrenia, it simply exacerbated and brought a problem that was already there up to the surface. I on the other hand, LOVED the stuff... too bad about my friend... unfortunately he was a pain in the ass anyway!!! LOL!

I don't really see the attraction of drugs. For instance, I've never taken illicit drugs , yet I am sometimes scared where my unconscious mind can take me in the form of dreams, falling etc. So why in a conscious state would you want to play around with reality?
