  • lol the weather is NEVER cooperative here

  • if anyone remembers we had to go under the bridge to get to Baytown. Called a TUNNEL then..... good ole' 60's

  • Hi, i have to say its a ppretty high and long bridge as well, looks great, was there in 2004-2005. Greetings from Germany , Thorsten

  • Yea, they used to have an underwater tunnel almost directly underneath where the bridge is now. I remember watching the different stages of this bridge being built. Then I think they destroyed the tunnel, they should have kept it open.

  • Me and my friend rode our bicycles over this bridge, not long after it opened. WHAT A RUSH!!

  • ya that bridge is nice .. i wish i could get that way eventually i believe it is the tallest causeway bridge in texas ..

  • At 178 feet above water it is the tallest bridge in Texas, the Beltway 8 Bridge is 175 feet.

  • ya and its to bad that the beltway 8 east bridge u have to pay toll to see its glory .. ill stick with the i- 610 port bridge for free as its amazing view also .. damn txdot , you ever wonder when that highway is gonna ever be paid for . lol its only been about 15 years

  • Yea it's an amazing bridge the towers are 440ft tall!!!

It's beautiful when you cross it you see all the refineries san jac monument and the houston skyline in the distance.

they are building a bridge in dallas to cross the trinity and its gonna be 400ft tall.

and they also have a300ft tall bridge proposed.

  • LOVE THIS!!!! It's so long too... But wow! Whata great looking bridge! I'm glad you went back through so I could see again!

  • The bridge is beautiful! Like the cable lines stretching out on the bridge! And that spectacular river view! The very end has this Florida thing going on with the palm trees as the clip fades out.

  • song sounds like it would be in a 90s video game

  • It's from the movie "Encino Man", it's called "Drive The Hell Out Of here" By Steve Vai.

  • It was like I was right there.

  • whats so special about the bridge? i go over it every day!!!

  • Well some people don't

  • It's a gorgeous bridge, and very easy to drive with 8 lanes and a shoulder.

If this bridge were in NY City or SF it would be a civic landmark and symbol of great pride and would also be considered an engineering marvel, not to mention an $8 toll.

  • I agree it its a beautyfull bridge but why is it not famous? Our SkyWay bridge is not as pretty yet its world famous. Maby its because its in the middle of no where? Also why such a big bridge?

  • You know the old saying, "Everything is bigger in Texas". This bridge is basically surrounded by Oil Refineries.

  • ok so its need to be big because of the oil tankers. Intresting.

  • I-45?

  • No, it's Texas Route 146

  • Love the 'Get The Hell Out Of Here' remix Jim!

  • Thanks, that's actually titled "Drive The Hell Out of Here" it's a shorter version.

  • lol that brigde is nothing!!

    believe me I know!

  • i hold my breath every time i go over it ^.^

  • My Great Grandfather Helped Build The Bridge, And As I Look At The Bridge, I Am Proud Of My Grandfather For Being Apart Of The Building Crew.

  • Also, I Live A Little Further Down The Freeway, When That Person Was On His/Her Way Back To Houston, And You See The Exit And Crap, A Little Further Down, 610 Northeast Is Where I Live

  • Been there. Done that.

  • I live there..

  • A beautiful bridge.

  • Was it this bridge which had problems with the cable-stays? I remember an article about it having issues where in light rain, water trickled down the cables causing them to oscillate violently, but it didn't occur in heavy rain or clear weather. They resolved it with ridges built onto the cables.

  • rockin' f@#kin' song!!!!!!!

  • It sure would. it looks just like the new Bay Bridge.

  • a beautiful houston treasure that many people don't know about

  • I've contended that if this bridge were in a major city on either coast it would be considered an engineering landmark and widely celebrated as a local treasure, not to mention a $7 toll.

  • I agree with you completely...
