@RasMajnouni Actually, while Gram and Emmylou probably did the song together, I think the real alt.country standard of the song was Gram with the Flying Burrito Band, on the incredible "Gilded Palace of Sin" album. Percy Sledge also did a great version. Breathtaking song.

Perhaps THE greatest cheating song ever written. Dan and Spooner were mentors to me early on, and I love these guys. True soul... Dan sang a song I wrote called "That's Me" that can be found on Facebook and Reverbnation under Shane Wilson from Madison, AL.

Dan Penn is the genuine article. One of the greatest singers out there. If you ever have the good fortune to hear one of the demos from the early days (the demos that convinced so many wonderful artists to cut the tune), savor every second of it.
