  • very well presented....hello from india :)

  • @inakus I know right??

  • can you use honey instead of molasses?

  • hello thanks for sharing;-) but i want to know what is molasses pllllllls...

  • So does the tea on the leaves actually repel the bugs to any extent?

  • This video went in my play-list entitled "Advantageous"

  • What are the results of your compost? Do you grow crops with this compost tea?

  • If your dumping it right on it shouldnt it be in a fine mist so the spores in the plants leafs wkll take it in?

  • Hey bro. Love the vid. I dont have compost..i was thinking id get a five gal bucket. Airstones etc..but id be using wormcastings from a store not a farm. Mollasis, myan microzym , and myocorzai in a powder. Can you maybe tell me what I should add or take away..id let it sit for two days by the way bubbling in the bucket.

  • good stuff ! the molasses is good for feeding the bacteria however if you add some type of meal or gluten it will feed the beneficial fungi that are as helpful to plants and soil( a big seret to mine is ground up dry cat food,, it contains tons of good stuff and no unprocessed animal products)

  • a good mycohirzol culture would add alot more activity to this culture method. it comes as a powder at your local grow store. good stuff!

  • Thanks

  • Thanks for the info mate!! What's the black stuff made from?? You need a watering can;-)

  • @ChumpyChicken2 You're welcome brutha. Great idea on a watering can. Not sure what you mean by the black stuff. The molasses? The castings? Only black things I can thing of... Great YT username by the way...!

  • @rawutah The Molasses is what i was trying to say, sorry i didn't make that real clear. I found ORGANIC, Unsulphered, BLACKSTRAP on ebay. My first try at Compost tea i used honey!! HaHaHa! Complete FAIL!!! Hopefully it will work better with Fresh compost and molasses! BTW do you need any rain water? we have lots here in Queensland:-)

  • @ChumpyChicken2 im not sure why the honey was a failure, but it wasnt because of the honey. the fact is, if you vary the types of sugar you feed the compost microorganisms, the more variety of them you get. some wont eat molasses, some wont eat honey, some wont eat corn syrup for example, but if you find a healthy balance of different sugars, you can tweek this stuff even another notch, and notice even better results. plus, trial and error is ok, bad worm tea is better than good tap water anyday

  • worms prefer topsoil. shallower 1' beds are preferable to tall garbage pails.

  • oh for sure they prefer being in an actual bed, but when farming them, most things work. I have a friend using an old freezer right now, with holes in the bottom, works like a charm!! WORM GALORE! You just keep moving the worms, from the farm....out to your grow beds. At least that's what I do, and it's worm city, in my backyard.

  • I plan on using a 55 gallon drum that I already have that I keep in my greenhouse. I think I'll need like a whole qt of molasses each shot and maybe a gallon worth of compost. Does that sound about right?

  • @stevelau1933 sounds good to me Steve, it's just like cooking, never quite the same. It's all about the experimentation, and then improving upon it. I love the journey. Happy brewing my friend.

  • @stevelau1933 check out a guy on here calls himself "headgardener2u" he has a vid called something like making compost tea in a 5 gallon bucket. very informative as well. thing most folks point to in a failure, is actually lack of oxygen for the micro's to breathe. you may get a good plume of them growing, then starve them to death of oxygen. also, avoid direct sunlight, and use it immediately. when you pull the oxygen they go downhill FAST. also listen for sq. ft. coverage from just 5gal :)

  • Thanks! Makes perfect sense.

  • Why is it necessary to strain out the solids?

  • @Dreamspinner100 Great question! ...if you're just applying it to the soil bed, it probably doesn't matter. BUT, if you're using it as a foliar spray...it will clog the sprayer. If you dump a solution with solids on the leaves...the solids may also start to break down or burn the leaf.

  • Nice vid, I really liked, but I have a question, do you replace water with this tea, I mean you just use this tea and no water or you use water and sometimes use this tea, and how often? thanks

  • @akhenatn Great question..thanks!! I've been using the tea once or twice a month. I water regularly in between that time. But I may start doing it much much more...on the heavy feeding crops, like tomatoes. Some growers use compost tea like this with EVERY WATERING. Especially on their tomatoes.!! I've noticed their tomatoes look MUCH BETTER than mine. So I would say, you could use it almost non stop!! A constant brew going. It appears the plants/soil love as much as you can brew!!

  • Why do you need to use molasses? Couldn't you just use refined sugar?

  • @YamaAndBudhi hey there...a little tardy on this reply, but...here goes. Not all sugar souces are created = So, I'd be curious to hear how that goes for you. The refining of things often manipulates them quite a bit. I've only ever used molasses, mostly because it's very cheap, I"m still on my first bottle. Howevery, many sugar sources out there...many will work I'm sure. Good luck...and Happy Brewing.

  • Hi, do you have any plants before and after videos, using the tea?

  • @marito001 Hello. Just all the videos on my channel...and photos on my website. If you watch them all you'll get the gist....and see dif cycles of growth. That would be cool though...to focus in on one tomato plants before and after with the worm tea... :)

  • @marito001 This is my first yr doing worm tea and I have a very robust garden compared to most all my previous yrs in the same spot. The rhubarb leaves were 3 feet dia and stocks bout as big as my wrist. The cayenne peppers are about 5 times as a regular size too. Tomatoes are way plentiful . All my beans were so unbelievably flavorful I am amazed. Oh yes, I did use Mycorrhizae on the garden this year also. I foliar feed the garden with a sprayer as I think that helps them absorb thru the leaves

  • @zobcity01 VERY COOL!!! Thanks for sharing that!! Cheers!! Rhubarb leaves the size 3 ft. in diameter...WOW!!!! The tea...just works!!!!

  • I started my worm compost yesterday and I am SO excited! I cannot believe that I have only just heard about this and it just makes so much sense. thank you all :)

and I am sure my tree frog and birds and fish who will occasionally eat a worm and my plants who are just going to LOVE this tea :)

and I love that it is so completely GREEN

  • I started my worm compost yesterday and I am SO excited! I cannot believe that I have only just heard about this and it just makes so much sense. thank you all :)

  • @1ginabina Hope it's working out for you...and the plants!!! It does make sense!! That plants/soil just goes nuts for it!!! Cool little world you got going on there...tree frogs, birds, fish....plants. My kinda world!!

  • Safety note to all: I just set up my brewing system, keep out of reach of toddlers, I have both five gallon pale and 20 gallon pale brewing, and I thought about it being a drowning hazard. A lid isn't good because you want oxygen, so I set mine up on a work table off the ground.

  • @sandworm3 Good Call...thanks!! Been messing with bigger brewing systems myself...using a 40 gallon Brute Trash Can now....oh yah!! Cheers!

  • why do you need to pour it on the leaves?

  • @Favre1013 hi there...you don't need to pour it on the leaves, you can just pour it on the soil, but by pouring it on the leaves, it leaves a "bio-film", which the bugs don't like, and leave the plant a lone....and it also feeds the soil. I mess around with both methods...sometimes just feeding the soil. Happy Brewing!!

  • thanks for the info. I suppose the castings from the tea can be scattered as a top dressing to the plants?

  • @sandworm3 yup...that's what I've been doing...and the plants and soil critters...go nuts for it!!

  • I just bought a microscope to test mine. I have been running an experiment instead of dumping the whole batch I leave about 1/3 then I add more water and molasses (sp) I believe it should just keep producing like yeast in bread. So far I have had it running for over a week.

  • @marthale7 right on!!! love that!! Lemme know how it goes...just had a batch going when I saw this...and so I kept it going according to your insight...we'll see how the plants like it. Would love to know what the microscope picked up....take care

  • I've been watering my house plants with fish tank water....when I do my regular monthly maintenance on my tanks. My plants go crazy for the stuff.....a real nitrogen boost.....think I'm going to try using it as the water base in my next brew of compost tea. Thanks for the great video!

  • @flyinggig1 now... that is great use of aquarium waste....no doubt the best!!!! You must have freshwater tanks...I'd be doing the same for sure!!! Would love to hear how the alchemy is between the fish/worm poop tea...I'm sure the plants will go crazy for it!! Doing constant brews this summer...the plants and soil are going nuts for it!!!!

  • great stuff man

  • @bahamalesster thanks my friend...all hail the WORM!

  • try advanced nutrients bud candy next time. is a simple & complex carbohydrates lickquid.

  • @moneydann thanks!..sounds like a great liquid nutrient...I'll look into it!!

  • Hi, when i make my worm tea, i do not get any froth like yours in your video. Am I doing sth wrong here?

  • hmmm..lets break it down...water...use Reverse osmosis if you can..that will take out any unknowns...then make sure you're using organic or non sulfur molasses, maybe keep a lid on but not tight..so air can get in and out...mainly so light isn't hitting the solution. Try that.

  • that's just off the top off my head..but without knowing any of the other variables in your situation....that's all I can think of for now...but for sure hit me back...if that doesn't work...maybe it's something else..like the castings ...are they full of life/fresh?

  • my fist making worm tea rigth now i used 1 oz of molasses & worm castings i pour in 3 litter bottle the castings inside and 1 oz of molasses air pump flat airstone in the 3 litter bottle i used tap water brew for 1 hour or 1/2 hour in the airstone then add worm castings in it brew for 10 minites i putted in a 1 gallon of milk it was juice becouse the airstones ther went bubling fully only in the top giving air i empty the 3 litter bottle to a 1 gallon of milk it was juice hope it cames good

  • hello can help me i try to brew worm tea came ligth brown yours is dark brown its says on your .... video i added....what non sofeer malasses or orgiginal malasses is tha malasses suger cane crush dirent find more info about malasses online thanks

  • bobporn11..just make sure it's NON SULPHURED or ORGANIC. You don't want any chemicals in there. Color differs every time..keep the lid on for the two day fermentation also..

  • How often do you use the tea on your plants??

    Thanks for a great video!

  • rosuabsc...I made about 5 batches during 2009...so every couple months...was my experience. Doused the plants as intuited.... or as I noticed they needed it. We're also using rock dust and dilute ocean water...for plant nutrients. Cheers to the worm tea!

  • Thanks a lot man, I'm getting into hydroponics, and this is gonna come in handy.

  • Put one of your airstWorks great.ones right in the bag.

  • marijuana loves compost tea

  • Great video. Lots of good info here. Thanks alot started mine a few days ago and your vid should help out a bunch

  • Ivankinsman...thanks for the comment...no...you don't need the bag. I just used it to save time in the end...if you're using a sprayer to apply the tea..to keep the compost from clogging sprayer. If not using a sprayer..no strainer needed. Sounds like a cool method you're using!!!!

  • how have your result been with this tea?

  • sk8forlife90...results have been fantastic!! The tomatoes crusised for about a year, producing hundreds of fruits with very little pests and beautiful fruits and leaf growth. On the cannabis..I'm sure it DOES love compost tea...if I were a med grower in california, I'd DEFINITELY use this!! All plants seem too, not to mention the soil, which loves it also..happy growing!

  • Do your need to use the bag? I'm going to go for the option of buying a 35gal bin and put in two gallons of compost at the bottom in a fishnet bag. Then will mix once a day and use as I need it. Still, this method probably produces a much more nutritious tea than mine.

  • superb rainbow chard!

  • WOW WOW I CANT WAIT TO DO THIS thanks so much

  • Your method is easier to understand, thanks for posting.

  • @pamelawalker1 pamela, I'm a year behind in this response, lol, but, you're welcome...and THANK YOU
