whats the f??@@*g point it putting a sample of hd footage on youtube, with a max resolution of 360p? LOSERS! Lets all get sky hd and watch it on a black and white telly!
That'd be from YouTube taking video that is recorded at a maximum of 17mbps and dropping it right down to 2mbps, no matter HOW you upload it. It's crappy how they do it, yes, but...
Hi, I just do like to ask how the stabilization in this camcorder works. Is it well or not? I'm thinking about buying it, but I'm not sure does this Super Range stabilizer works.
Also, what zoom did you use to record this video?
this camera cant film in 1080p, i have it and i know for a fact that it only films in 1080i and lower, it would cost much more to buy a camera with 1080p and its a function that consumer cameras just cant handle right now along with 60p. Never-the-less, this camera is still really nice and was a great purchase but its definitely not 1080p.
That's completely incorrect... It shoots in 24p and 30p... Which is 1080p. Why did you even buy that camera? (Considering, that the main selling point over the Sony is that it shoots 1080p.)
I'm seriously considering getting one these, over the summer I'll mainly use it to shoot jet aircraft at airshows. Watching several sample movies (including this one with the close of up the passing cars), the HF10 doesn't seem to handle fast moving objects well - they jerk/stutter past. Is this something to do with the post-production compression or is this what you see natively out of the camera?
"the HF10 doesn't seem to handle fast moving objects well - they jerk/stutter past. Is this something to do with the post-production compression or is this what you see natively out of the camera?"
The stutter is a result of youtube increasing the framerate of the video from 24/25p to 30p... if I recall correctly this cannon can shoot in 30p (as well as 24/25p & 60i) anyway so it shouldn't be something to worry about.
This is what you see on camera as well - jittering. The problem basically lies with 24p and 30p. When you choose 60i it is a little better, not perfect, but better. I don't think it is Canon though, all digital cameras like that. It really bothered me, but I realize I would have to live with that, or buy $3,000 camera and it would still have it if you really pay attention. I used to do video editing, so my eyes see all kind of thing, it is really a pain.....
Would you recommend, for recording straight from a speaker (guitar amplifier), that I use my SM57 straight into the camcorder, or record the audio and video separately and then combine later on?

How well does it work with a Mac?
writevli 3 years ago
Very, very well in iMovie HD. Problem is, you have to import files and it converts them to AppleIntermediateCodec files (=40 GB per hour).
It's a shame iMovie HD doesn't handle AVC-HD directly.

this camera is becoming a big hit, imovie and other editing softwares will be able to handle it soon trust me

shot at 1080p, youtube video is low res
clementjoubert 3 years ago
Viewers can append "&fmt=6" (with no parenthesis) to the end of the video's URL for better quality.
