the short clip i have is 92bpm and that's the original bpm. When i go to factory and choose destination say 85bpm i don't hear a difference in the sound clip, it actually doesn't do anything lol
Not sure which version of Logic you're using, but its far easier and quicker to add a bpm counter on the track and time stretching it to the tempo you want.
@ymmijnow if you open up the sample editor you can choose "save backup copy" (or something similar, my logic is in german - unfortunately .:D) under the "audio data"-menu which is at the top left of our sample editor window. that should save your files. another possibility would be to manually create a copy in your finder window. :)
Hej man, didn't you notice that when the processing in the time and pitch machine was done, the audio file drastically drops in volume? You should check out the waveform at the beginning, fully mastered to 0 db and then afterwards the volumes drops back a hell of a lot ... Any tips on how to get it back to 0 db? Cause there probably will be a peak which reaches the 0 db line and pushes all the other audio downwards ...
Okay, so you haven't actually changed the BPM of the audio file, this is misleading. You haven't made the audio any faster or any slower, you've just changed the tempo of Logic to fit the audio.
@joeryanisaocelot that isn't true... the only reason I change the tempo of the project is to find the tempo of the track. After I find out the tempo that is when I change the tempo of the audio file in the sample editor
I need some major help. I already know the BPM of my song and when i open it up in the sample editor... I make sure I select all... but in the factory tab the groove and time machine is dimmed and will not let me select it. Why?
@supermanky since i don't have every BPM memorized i have to figure it out. This is the best way that I have come up with... do you have a better suggestion?
@christedge I would suggest you get a copy of a program like traktor, Or virtual dj. (Basically if you use the bpm from that its very accurate for this. If u want a cheaper option then im sure you can get a bpm matcher from somewhere that does just this. Logic really need to address this problem. cubase doesnt have this problem. Hope this helped a little anyway.
@christedge When you slow down audio files it gets choppy because the bit rate gets lower when you slow a clip down. Speeding up a clip usually doesn't give the distortion because speeding up a clip doesn't need to fill in gaps in the audio of the clip
Quick question, I tried this on a track and it worked perfectly, but when I imported the other song (the one that I did not want to change the tempo), i was sped up as well. Is there a way that I can only change the tempo of the one track?
good vid mate. perfect explanation.

i get some distorted sound to audio files after i change the tempo. do you know any way i can fix that?
neosouljazz 1 year ago
@neosouljazz I'm not sure what is going on there. It might be the bit rate of the original audio file.
