That earth quake was really soft. But then again it's like the biggest one in Canada in a while. I don't know why people live in america when you can be some venerable earth quakes. Plus why are u even in ottawa Toronto is a lot better. ^^
Happened years ago here in Hamilton as well. I was sitting on the floor and after a loud rumble, my parents were like, "What's that?" and I just said, "It's an earthquake". Then they were like noo... haha. Then on the news, yah.. :)
Well it looks like I'm the first comment in a month or so but I was browsing videos and hell, i remember that earthquake, hadn't felt one before either, first thing i did was call my family and shit. I bet Rideau must have been chaos and mayhem. Didn't think about it that way... Anyway, it's always funny to be reminded of it.
Haha thats funny, you're new to Ottawa. I'm from Ottawa JUST visited Kingston a few weeks ago. Lol Us Ontario folks are totally weather ready. Icestorms, heat waves, tornados, fires. When Darwin thought evolution, he thought ontario :P
Hi! beauty girl! I´m from Chile and I survived an 8.8 earthquake, including some aftershocks above 5.5 by week, therefore I have a lot of experience about this ^_^. Married with me and I will protect you for any earthquake or 2012 calamity (one never know).
Yeah that was quite the event .I had heard that people thought that initially- it was a bomb because of the G-20. iwill remember that for awhile. The book of Revelation last book ibn the bible king james version speaks of an incredible one coming

5.0 Earthquake in Ottawa? Just a few days before the G8/G20 meting in Toronto ?
Mmmmm I smell a rat, or should I say I smell the New international Order trying to prove a point. trying to prove a point to who? You, me? more likely the global power elites siting down to discuss how to bring about a global collapse.
Wow!!! You are very attractive! Nice to know you visited Quebec.I live there.I believe in 2012 too.Maybe we could become friends if you would like.Take care.
wow finally an attractive girl thats not a pot head in Ottawa and she can talk!!!! lol :P feels weird seeing a video talking about rideau center and ottawa and gatineau.. keep it up maybe ill run into you sometime and ill say i know you and youll be all weirded out.. :P
I felt it in Hamilton... i was on my bed with my laptop and suddenly my bed stared shaking i thought only i felt it.... but then 3 min late i saw on Facebook people (my friendas) felt it too....
It's uncommen for us to have a earthquake but it actually happened! I live here and it was about 5.0 and it scared me. o_o It happened about like 15 years ago maybe somewhat near that. o_O
I SURVIVED IT TOO oh an missdeyo it was all over southern ontario I was all the way In Mississauga and it hit us pretty hard for about thirty seconds and when the phone was down scared the shit out of me omg I'm soo making a T-shirt that says I survived the 2010 earthquake
Another survivor speaks out.... I was in the basement of my Apt(laundry) and thought the rumbling under my feet was the furnace!! Gas leak AAAaaahhhhh.... ran outside to find several bewildered/freaked neighbors standing on the sidewalk! For your 72 hrs emergency survival kit may I suggest ditch the cheap booze and get some decent saki, Chuao chocolates and glow in the dark maps of the fault lines just in case> check wikipediaunder :OttawaBonnechere_Graben Cheers & visit Umicafe! :)
I live in mississauga, near toronto... and my sofa was swaying like a hamic... I thought you know its exam time, and maybe im losing it, but i look at my dad and he stopped dead in his tracks and asks me "did you feel that?"
Someone from the Canadian Geological Survey said earthquakes of this magnitude occur in the Ottawa region once every 10-15 years. By the way, we experienced one (a 5.0) back around 1990. Its epicenter was Jonquière Quebec.
We have a major fault line running through Ottawa. Frankly I'm surprised (and happy) that we don't experience more of these quakes. The fault line, I was told, runs through part of Carling Avenue near Dow's Lake area. That I haven't confirmed.
@auggiedoggy the fault line actually runs straight through the Tory building in Carleton university campus and they had to reinforce it. lol and during the earthquake a friend was graduating at St. Pius and they freaked out. Well i hope u liked Ottawa missdeyo excluding the unpleasant weather and earthquake :P.
Who knew the girl from slumber parties and summer tubing adventures long ago would move to Ottawa and become a big youtube star... LOL! In all seriousness, I'm glad your okay and making yourself at home, despite the crazy weather!
let me protect your from earthquakes with my life. We can go for long walks on the beach in Ottawa and have a picnic. i wanna stare deep in to your eyes and whisper cute things in your ear. Marry Me dear gorgeous missdeyo
Yeah this 5.0 earthquake isn't anything new to the area. The epicenter of it in Quebec is farily active and not uncommon to have these types of earthquakes every decade or so.
I live in Ottawa and I work for Natural Resource Canada, let me tell you I was the first one out the building and others were walking out half and hour later LOL.
I guess I am the only one who knows what Earth Quakes can cause. I work on the second floor and i was out before the Quake was over. I am proud of how fast I can react to an emergency and get my ass out of a building in less then 15 seconds.
i didn't feel it! my mom and grandma were upstairs, while i was downstairs, and they felt it, but i didn't even notice untill they asked me if i felt it!
funny u mention 2012 cuz i passed out to it last night half way thru, then woke up to the quake so for like a lil more then a split second i thought i was in the movie/the world was ending (eventho i dont believe in that 2012 bs). then when it hit me that it was a quake i was like not bad not bad at all. i kind of enjoyed it.
Started off like a low growl for 6 seconds. Then the energy wave came and it was like surfing. Being at CDN Tire at the time, the buildings steel structure amplified the sound of the quake.
Everyone ran out of the store but I calmly walked out. I've been through one quake in Cali. This one was totally the opposite being a shallow epicenter. A friend of mine in Columbus OH felt it as well.
Aftershocks still being felt in Val des Bois. Nothing here yet. Hopefully not for a while.
That was scary when you scratched your left eyeball lol. Jack is a man's drink - I can't down that shit. We felt a full-minute tremor down here in Nepean too!
I was at the grocery store when it happened, and boxes started falling off the shelves. I was alone so I was freaking scared I thought it was a bomb too haha.
I live around london and me and my friend were playing basketball and for no reason I felt really dizzy and almost fell over and I think it was the quake cuz I dont normally get dizzy spells like dat.
I live in Collingwood, 2 hours north of Toronto, and for us it was just a small rumble and minor shaking that you'd get from a big truck going by. That is if you even noticed it at all. I knew in advance by about an hour and a half, since my boyfriend in Toronto was on MSN with me when it hit there, and I still didn't notice. But then, I was at a grocery store.
I was in class when it happened i thought it was a bulldozer but my class was in the bassment so it wasnt big then all classes went outside and i yelled out armageddon for fun but my teacher got pissed at me
lol how did you not know where you were? I know where I was, I was in bed and I thought someone was rocking my bed. Then i heard my landlord stumbling around like a fool upstairs in a panic. He is a senile old paranoid man and it sounded like a blind elephant romping around upstairs. Then i heard my computer speaker fall off the table. Then I put 2 and 2 togther and realized what it was in about 10 seconds.
@rustyscrapper Haha I'm new to the city. I obviously knew I was in the rideau centre but I don't know where that is relative to my house! Haha I've since figured it out. I also figured it was an earthquake but that's just a thought you don't really LET yourself think when they're such a rarity! :)
2012?...may be sooner then that. Alot of crazy conspiracy coming to fact, more peole opening their eyes slowly and the earth is trying to get comfortable.
i used to live in Ottawa, felt a lot of quakes over the years, but only small ones 2 on richter scale. The quake epicenter was Charlevoix-Kamouraska zone, which is located close to Ottawa (50km from my dad's cottage.... on month till I go yay!)
I live in Kitchener (6 hours away) and my workplace shook!
and yeah ICE STORM 98 was awesome! Two weeks off school, and we had the teacher strike that year! living in Cornwall.... yeah Cornwall.... that stink town! BLAH!
Just to let you know also, Ottawa sits on top of a very low active fault line we have mild earthquakes every 3 to 4 years. I don't think it's capable of pumping out more than a 6.1 it just grumbles at us every couple of years.
NO TdotGoldenChild is lying he is simply a little boy most likely a justin bieber fan. Marry a real man like me and I will protect and keep you safe :)
2012 will happen another 6.7 magnitude earthquake happened today in japan. That is like 10 for them in the past year. This is some crazy shit man

i used to live in Ottawa, felt a lot of quakes over the years, but only small ones 2 on richter scale.
BLAH!

@missdeyo
Just to let you know also, Ottawa sits on top of a very low active fault line we have mild earthquakes every 3 to 4 years. I don't think it's capable of pumping out more than a 6.1 it just grumbles at us every couple of years.
