@visualrocker69 then he had no drive and never would have gotten better and helped the band thus he had to go and the band is better for it. and he isnt really better than hide or pata. hide was an amazing guitarist who managed to do some incredible things with a guitar and pata was always so precise and clean there both great and jun was just an above average guitar player who didnt have the spirit of a music god.
Everyone has their own opinions, but I don't agree :) Pata was a heavy drinker and his playing after 1992 was not very clean! Watch the 1993-1994 concerts, he messes up a lot there, unfortunately :)
As for Jun, it's not a question of drive. He pursued his own musical interests, which were not something that were compatible with popularity. Music is music, it's not a popularity contest. Can't try to please everyone because then you're doing music for the wrong reasons in my opinion~
@visualrocker69 true im just saying that wanting fame is part of becoming a great musician. as for musical talent we really cant answer that one because of how little exposer jun had compared to hide and pata.
As for technique, Jun's is far more advanced than Pata and hide. Those two never used arpeggio sweep picking, complex tapping, etc. Jun is instrumentally a far more hardworking guitarist. Pata plays in a much more simple blues style, and hide's focus is mainly songwriting, at which he is of course a genius ^^
@visualrocker69 i dont know about taping hide did some pretty crazy things with taping and as for sweep picking they did use it in silent jealousy right in the solo and pata used alot of complex teq such as alternate string strumming.
@visualrocker69 i could have sworn ive seen hide sweep picking for the solo in silent jealousy or at least some solo. but i still stand by that he is one of the best guitarist's in the world.
@visualrocker69 i disagree with that mainly because of the stuff he did solo like eyes love you he is an amazing guitarist and once a person gets to a certain point it all becomes what they can think of and he never really wanted to work in those complex parts into his songs as for if he could do it im sure he could.
This is indeed true. Pata did some of more complex guitar parts in X, hide got better with time, but never at the same level as Pata. Whereas Jun, he trumps both of them in tandem, his vibrato is excellent (Stop Bloody Rain!) and soulful, which I cannot say for neither hide nor Pata, even. We won't talk about more advanced techniques because it's bloody obvious Jun is hands down better than both hide and Pata combined.

lol. there's no sweep picking in Silent Jealousy. all the arpeggios are alternate picking, and pretty slow.

@maluse227
I've never seen hide sweep pick in Saver Tiger, X, or solo.
Depends how 'best' is defined. He's a great songwriter, sure, but in terms of technical ability, he's just mediocre.

He's never really played any complex parts, compared to Paul Gilbert, Jason Becker, etc.

Is it 1986.05.12 or 1986.05.17? Coz according to X data, they didn't have any show on 12th, but they DID have a show in Osaka YANTA on 17th.
