  • my favorite character has always been the frog and the baby otter!!!!

  • My mum just sent me a link to this video, and said she cried whilst watching this as it reminded her of me as a child and her own mother who past away less than a year ago, now I'm sat here in tears myself, it's been a long time since I've watched it, I loved this program, love you mum and grandma xx

  • They used to show this on the then fledgling Disney Channel when I was a kid! I first time I heard this theme song in 20 years, it brought tears in my eyes about the greatest childhood memories. Now I can watch the entire series again on Netflix online streaming!

  • Went and bought the DVDs online today- can't wait to watch them with my nieces and nephews - thank you again for the song. There's a book WITW? Now I know.

  • "Spin me a dream, woven silver and gold. Of sunshine and shadows and days long ago. Where people are memories. And stories unfold." How beautiful is that?

  • Can you get this song on a CD?. please.

  • Reminds me of the days before we knew about corrupt banks, the government, the system. Coming home from school and eating chips for dinner. After this would be banana man, super ted, worzel gummidge. The sheer magic.

  • My sister gave me this book when I was 7 years old and unfortunately when she passed away last year (2010) it was in box that was taken away ... but I love the book and I have the album...wish I had my sister though! The book is gone but her memory lives on in my heart and ever will ...

  • AWESOME!!!!!

  • I Wonder How Sam The Eagle From The Muppet Show Would Feel If He Ever Heard This Song?.

  • The memories just flood back as I hear this song. Used to watch these episodes on Sunday evening with my boy's on Educational Television. Such a simpler time! Miss it!

  • Wonderful song by Ralph McTell! Marvelous story created with 'clay' Cosgrove Hall has created an enchanting version of Wind in the Willows. Thanks for posting this beautiful theme.

  • This is beautiful.... Thank you so much from Australian Audiences.. and especially me xx

  • Loved this show when I was a kid and I still sing this song to myself every now and then. Was a good song then, it's a good song now. Still speaks to the dreamers in all of us. :)

  • got the ending credits ? i want it as a ring tone

  • Crying - and I'm 51!

  • So beautiful! haven't seen it in over 20 years but still hum it to myself every now and then.

  • Just beautiful and packed with so many happy memories.

  • Where could I find the lyrics to that song? Help me, please ...

  • I always liked how most of the childhood animated movies I watched had such beautiful songs, which makes them all the more memorable!

  • This song brings back memories of my childhood & no other song brings back so many childhood memories & that makes this song so timeless & thank you for uploading it as its good to hear this song.

  • haha this brings back so many memories

  • The cop that Mr. Toad cheeked disliked this video. He really needs to get over it.

  • Someone know where to find the latin version of this song?

  • I just pulled out the series to watch it after all these years, and I couldn't help but smile as I listened to this theme. Ah, my childhood. Hello again.

  • download link? or a shop selling a CD with this? I want it ever so much :)

  • Amazing.

No childhood melody like this. :)

  • Unfortunately Me, Colm and Eabha wouldn't know this song but I think we already know the one about The Open Road.

  • Everytime I hear this I feel like a child again - heartwarming !

  • I can not get this out of my head.

  • @marmik961 I know, I keep pressing the repeat button.

  • @Vincent777Legion1 With such a great song and good story and several versions of it you really wonder how this movie became such an underated classic. Which version is your favorite?

  • @marmik961 The original for sure but I do like the 2nd also. Both instored their own spirit.Warms me up everytime.

what version do you tend to side with?

  • @Vincent777Legion1 My absolute favorite is the animated Disney version because in all the others there's this plot hole. Toad steals a car, goes to prison breaks out, and gets his house back. But shouldn't he go back to prison he actually did steal the car and he broke out of prison? Can you explain that to me please?

  • Does anybody know what key this song is sung in?.

  • This show was fantastic. My favourite character was Toad because he was so funny with his new crazes that always went wrong.

  • Beautiful song...

  • I remember watching this in Russia when I was about 6 or 7 years old. Such a sweet memories. :*(

  • @lewdstep When were you born? Are you talking about Soviet era?

  • @Gurumze The series were shown in middle of 90's on Russian channel TV-6, I believe.

  • I'm 48yrs old. I've been looking for this eversince. Sincere thnx to all who uploaded Wind in the Willows. God Bless you.

  • @ymasea25 I've since gone on Ebay and found W I T W pop up books and the DVD movie, which I have purchased for my granddaughter. I want her to be familiar with this piece of children's literature. Ebay is another great avenue for W I T W.

  • Gosh i just burst into tears. I loved this growing up. Such fond memories...

  • @nubianfx Are You Taking A Trip Down Memory Lane?.

  • always loved this theme. always wanted to live with moley and ratty when i were a kid.

  • Everyone seems to be sharing the same emotions; happiness and a longing for the security of days passed. I understand the loss of family; I am an only child, whose husband and parents passed away far too soon, and these simple stories brought to life by Cosgrove-Hall are a respite from the the times in which we find ourselves living. Written for children; but treasured by people of all ages. Thank-You for taking the time to upload this very rare version of the theme song.

  • i believe this universe of the wind in the willows exists somewhere in a hidden place ... ;)

  • Thank you so much.......I have been looking for this track for a long time now......and i was just humming it and casually searched and there it was.......brings back a lot of memories from the good old days.....

  • thank you, thank you, thank you. This brings flash back of my memories, the good happy days of my life. When my loved ones were living. I wish Osama Shit Bin Ladden was killed in some car accident, and this world would have been a better place for the rest of us.

  • Awww, wonderful. Beautiful. 91 Likes and 0 Dislikes, that's the way it should be. Thank you so much for posting this.

  • masterpiece.

  • Beaut Mate

  • Gorgeous! Cute!

  • this show kind of creeps me out

  • @smadgirl Why? Its an innocent show about friendship and the power of imagination.

  • I could almost hear Gordon Lightfoot singing this song....

  • They don`t make shows like that anymore probably because they think its too expensive and time consuming, compared to just do a flash cartoon or a normal live action show.

In a way they are correct yes it is expensive and time consuming, BUT i will stand by this clam till i die, Stopmotion delivers a soul and an atmosphere, that neither cgi, flash can deliver.

Live action perhaps But more often then not its just crap.

  • If you have not seen much of this watch The Great Steamer episode and the surreal Badgers Remedy where Mole nearly dies of Mushroom poisoning. Its a most wonderful and clever work.

  • " AND WELL GO BOATING- BOATING- BOATING!!"

how we love this- we have just bought the whole series on DVD - something like 47 hours of pure joy!!

  • Beautiful!! :') shame tv shows don't do this kinda thing any more.

  • @florgeysteve I agree, I am from this era of kids TV and loved this programme. But sadly today's kids have short attention spans and would be bored with the likes of WITW. It's all Lazytown and Ben 10 these days, not to mention appauling (politically correct) remakes of Postman Pat and Thomas the tank etc. Shameful! :(

But yes. Beautiful theme indeed! :)

  • @octomonkey1980

Hi, I was born in 1980. I grew up with this show, so much so, David Jason to me is Mr Toad (not Del Boy). I am a father of 3, and my 4 year old and two year old watch this regularly.

I have bought my kids a lot of things I watched as a child which are now available on DVD. Ulysses 31, Turtles, Ghostbusters etc. I think parents have a great responsibility to monitor their child's entertainment. Thankfully, classics are available nowadays, and parents have a choice.

  • I remember when they used to have this show on telly when i was about 4 or 5 and i used to start crying every time i heard that song,

    Ha! brings me way back,

  • i have the feature length version of this on vhs, complete with pistol toting Ratty

  • i still love the story..great series

  • Great! Memoirs from the childhood.

Please, prompt as this song is called? It sings Ralph McTell? I can't find this song :(

    thx!

  • @AlexEskyMO

It's simply called "Wind In The Willows" by Ralph McTell. It was released as a single, I believe...

  • @ ziggydamaestro

    Many thanks! Has found! :)

  • This brings back so many wonderful childhood memories. And I had no idea there was a full version of this theme! It's always been one of my favorite pieces. Does anyone know where to find the lyrics, if they are available?

  • I dunno what it is with this song but I can't get this smile off my face

  • Ohhh....the memories...cheers

  • What a beautiful rendition!! I have never heard this longer version. Just love it. Thank you !!

  • memories.... thanks for posting!

  • I use to love the wind in the willows song when i was a child. Warm, calm and beautiful! ... it set a really peaceful atmosphere!

Good to know i was feeling the music way back then too.

  • Every time I hear this song it makes a :, ) come from my eyes..... I think this is one of the best claymation/stop motion programs I have seen... And, I appreciate the fact that it is made for everyone [not just for children]. I t reminds me of my childhood when the TV stations [ we only had "3"... that's right... only 3 stations] didn't have to have a bunch of killing in a program to entertain you!!!!!! I wish I could find more of the DVD's though... :(

  • You can buy the DVD's online :) Or order them at a local DVD store, like I did ^w^

  • It's wonderful to finally hear this song all the way through, I absolutely love WITW, thank you so much for this upload!!!

  • I keep remembering this tune from time to time, all I remembered that it was a animated show that I watched as a child. Although I don't remember the details of the stories told in the show, I have fond memories of it just listening to the tune.

  • always loved this song & series when i was a child, lol i sometimes sing this to myself happy days

  • This reminds me of my childhood - a simple, happy time, this song will always make me smile. - how I remember the words to this though I will never know!!!

  • I agree totally! "simple and happy times" sums it up......v It's hard to put into words but it's as if it comes from a forgotten memory that I never had??? If that makes sense?????

  • Can anyone provide the lyrics for this beautiful childhood song?

  • The wind in the willows sang softly to me follow my voice wherever it leads from mountains, through valleys, to deep rolling seas Born on the wings of a breeze Spin me a dream woven silver and gold from sunshine and shadows and days long ago where people are memories and stories unfold. Willows the tales you have told me Wind in the willows you just seem to know who you can turn to and which way to go to unwind your wonderous mind Wind in the willows take me there By Ralph McTell
  • Thank-you VERY much! ^^

  • U r welcome Themizuwolf :)

  • Last verse is a variation of the second verse.

Oh and Ralph McTell wrote this with Keith Hopwood (ran out of characters)

  • Which episode is the picture at 1:48 from?

  • Does anyone know if you can get this on iTunes or something similar?

  • Por favor!!! Alguien tiene esta seria en español o subtitulada... por lo que mas quieran subanla, please!!!

  • aha, good to know that even when i was a little kid my taste in music was pretty good. :p used to love this song so much and haven't heard it since the 80's. it actually reminds me of bright eyes by simon & garfunkel a little.

  • I just want to curl up and watch this forever like back in the day.

  • buy the dvds online and u pretty much can

  • @cooliogoodMuzic In front of a roaring fire... mmmm

  • That was beautiful, my little brother has a red book with a broken spine on the back he hand wrote a quote inside when the rich wage war it's the poor that dies meanwhile leader talks away stuttering and mumble away for the night and the news to play, the world watch at the end of the day both scared and angry what did he say?

  • Ma-gni-fi-que !!!!!

  • excellent, thanks pampa-

  • thank you for posting it sounds perfect

  • I love this song very much! It's sang sooo soft!

  • The intro song used too make me sad...beautiful melody and lyrics...

  • Thank you so much for the happy memories. It used to come in Pakistan in early 90s and i was like eight, nine at that time.

I remember always used to make me sad though i don't know why. i didn't understand what the character used to say but characters have remained etched in my mind. Such happy memories

Going through the school library, I came across this book and having read three-quarters of it. i realise how wonderfully it is written.

  • I love this series!!

  • Very moving theme tune, absolutely wonderful.

  • It is wonderful to hear it.

  • Who sings this, the credits say Ralph McTell but I can never find a copy?????????

I have a lot of the DVD's but love the fact that you put the whole song on here....

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

    Did I say thank you....lol

  • i love this book, such a classic

  • This brings back memories...what an achingly beautiful set of classic films this was. I just watched the original on video, I hadn't seen it in probably ten years.

  • What a beautiful theme tune! :D

  • A classic adaptation of a childhood favourite book.Nicely realized.
