  • Pulled up the positive energy of each individual in the band., with every performance all the more ......Unique The Doors!!!!

  • Jim Ladd is trying too hard to be hip. How old is this guy?

  • jim ladd is sooo rihgt on this one , as usual ! gotta love that guy

  • i think the doors arent being played on the radio as often as they should

  • I thought Robby looked a bit strange... then noticed he has no eyebrows.

  • Well, we just did it. Cheers.

  • Robbie looks like a burn victim. ¦:o.

  • @anomaly768

well, he got burned writing light my fire...lol

  • @huntAblunt ...in that case I'll start calling him Freddie Krieger. ;)

  • @anomaly768

lmfao........but he could play freddie in a movie, they look similar....sorry robby.......I mean I could imagine him dressed like freddie....ahahaha

  • Saw Ray and Robby back in Detroit about 2 weeks ago at the Fillmore... They had an awesome stage show... they kinda ruined it though during the instrumental making it feel more like a cruise ship. but they are really nice guys in person.

  • @cmskid20

That's very cool you got to meet them. I had a chance to see Robby and I blew it years ago and I regret it ever since. The music is immortal, still listening to it after all this time.

  • LETS SWIM TO THE MOON. FLY ME TO THE MOON..

  • I wish I knew the cartoon they used this or a similar Doors beat-tune on, right about 1967-68-69??? My memory tells me it was a 'Casper the friendly ghost' episode, but it could have been some other Saturday morning cartoon.

  • God damn it. What is this FROM

  • @ParadoxDiscrepancy It's from "Classic Albums:The Doors." I found it very entertaining. It's on Netflix Instant watch if you have it!

  • @RobertHarrisMusic14 Thank you very much!

  • Cool remembrance...I walked into a head shop at the shore and the Doors were playing. The incense was sweet and musky. There was no need to supplement the high. It was there as a truth and a testement to the age we were all feeling, and it was beautiful. Sight, sound, and smell. Jim Morrison stll lives.

  • I remember this song coming out just during the Detroit riots in 1967. "Light My Fire" seemed like an omen to me then...LOL

  • damn you should have credited the source of this clip cause I want to watch the whole thing now

  • 1:24 Ray did the opening all by himself...

  • 1:18 after all these years he has the VOX and FENDER KEYBOARD BASS, because the 20th century doors and riders on the storm tv apperances, Ray played regular keyboards.

  • Its a shame that the doors could never shake the shadow of jim, they deserve a lot more credit, when u say THE DOORS, the first thing that comes to our mind is jim singing or dancing but we forget there are three other talented persons that belong to that band

  • "it just dripped out of the radio...the Beatles were saying "all you need is love" Morrison's going "light my fire, hunny"" hahaha fucking EPIC (and i absolutely hate that word even more so using it, but it's suits this well

  • Robby's laugh at 5:05 epic xD

  • At the end I got depressed that I'd never get to attend a doors concert :'( but god what a tune and what a band!! Forever a doors fan!!!

  • @bosswalter100 i know...i have to live with that everyday of my life

  • You know he don't give a fuck.

  • Great band, great musicians, totally unique sound. Will never be duplicated.

  • These guys are the best !

  • Whats the name of the album that they play all this songs ??

  • @diegosandvrs The DOORS [their first album]

  • "we cant just...thats the riff of the song" well ray u did that at the matrix in 67

  • Where is this interview from?

can someone please let me know what documentary this is from? Thank you.

  • GIRL WE COULDNT GET MUCH HIIIIGHER!

  • I can see why Jim didn't want Jim Morrison and the Doors. Too much contribution from everyone else. No leaches like -- umm -- Ringo.

  • Make's you want to think, what if ? doesn't it

  • Imagine what Jim would look like right now with all the drugs he took if Robby looks rough imagine him lol wait that is what gods look like

  • i know i love jim he didnt conform i fukn love that about him

  • Comment removed

  • what was so bad about saying "girl we couldn't get much higher" back then?

  • @DCUnderdog3000 the implication of drug abuse. Smoking weed was considered counterculture, and therefore, verboten.

  • Ray is as good a storyteller as a keyboardist !

  • Robby is very calm, cool, and collective

  • great vid

    nikolajovan1

  • what dvd is this from?

  • Ray Manzarek is the ony member of The Doors to have aged well. If Jim Morrison were still alive, he would probably look the worst of all of them. After all, his looks were already fading by the time The Soft Parade came out.

  • @CoolToobmovie hahaha Densmore doesn't look too bad... but yeah, Robby is looking pretty rough

  • @TomWhaley621 yeahh, i agree about both densmore and krieger. i like robbys singing though, it's so touching

  • @CoolToobmovie so? what a shallow observation.

  • @CoolToobmovie cuz he was a alcoholic and was doing heroin and other drugs and started eating more...

  • @CoolToobmovie Perhaps,perhaps.But he joined Club 27.Greatest band in the world tho : )

  • I remember I was working in the Courthouse in Miami FL and during Jim Morrison of the Doors he was arrested for exposing himself.. I saw the media and crowd chasing him

during his courthouse appearance. He was quite a big deal back in 1968.

  • @CoolToobmovie and to think that ray is the oldest out of all of them!

  • @CoolToobmovie And John.

  • If it only had more lyrics it would be the best song ever.

  • 3:48 "The Beatles were saying: all you need is love, Morrison is goin' light my fire, honey!"

  • Girl we couldn't get much higher!

  • Brilliant, thanks for posting that.

  • can someone mothertongue write here what they say, please? thank you very much!

  • From what documentary is that?

  • @mirogster if you find out, lemme know...

  • @mirogster i'm pretty sure, that it's from the "classic albums". great series

  • @mirogster OK just found it. Yes, it's from "Classic Albums" series. Just downloading ;)

ALL OF YOU MUST SEE THE MOVIE: WHEN YOU'RE STRANGE !!!! Just pure masterpiece !!

  • All should worship the Doors for giving us real music to feed are souls

  • @mrgtkoop123 I don't know about that: Jim died so young and music is supposed to transmit the inner feelings of the songwriter. Yes, it was great music but the contents I'm not sure about that.

  • @gnossticc

why not???did they promote violence, lying or any other bad stuff....no!so why should content be bad.....you have to focus more on the lyrics and understand them..

  • @huntAblunt Are we talking about violence? Hell no! We are talking about the way in which Morrison lived and died.

  • Baita documentário!

  • I FOKING LOVE THIS SONG...

  • The Sound from this Organ is outstanding, and it is Something that makes this Special Doors Sound . " The say you will never do this Show again, well we did it , we only want to do it Once, Cheers :) Hahahah :)

  • @xxliros99xx the riders on the storm bassline played by elvis's bass player

  • Wow. To be 16 again in 1967. It just didn't get any better than that. Except for one thing - growing up in Detroit. Motown. I will never take my luck for granted. Loved and still love The Doors.

  • QUESTO è UN BELLISSIMO VIDEO CHE CI FA SEMPRE RICORDARE I THE DOORS , UNO DEI MIGLIORI GRUPPI ESISTITI SECOLO SCORSO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • QUESTOè UN BELLISSIMO VIDEO CHE CI FA SEMPRE RICORDARE I THE DOORS , UNO DEI MIGLIORI GRUPPI ESISTITI SECOLO SCORSO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Saw this on Netflix-Classic Albums-"The Doors"

There's also another one called "When Your Strange"

Both really good *If You LOVE The Doors*

  • The Doors did not sell out on Ed Sullivan, but certainly did on cutting out so much of Light My Fire. No matter what is said, almost all bands existed to make money.

If Light My Fire were not shortened, there may have been no Doors albums after the first one.

  • The Doors were a fabulous collaboration. However, I always felt that without the keyboards they would have rocked harder. I could see Jim really getting into singing harder music than he was able to with the keyboard in the mix. It really, really would have kicked azzzz !

  • when i heard ray play the keyboards i almost peed my pants! haha

  • @floresrh2000 i hear yuh... i got goose bumps on my arms. ray n robbie's solo's to this song r legandary !!!

  • "The love part of it and then we'll have the death part." Win haha

  • Which documentary are all these clips from?

  • John looks like he's lit his fire on his face

  • Wouldn't mind hearing an acoustic light my fire like the original one wrote by Robby K.

It would be cool if country joe did it too.

  • What happened is he's 65 years old. Manzarek and Densmore have "aged" better (Ray is 72!). Robby is and for many years has been very underappreciated musician and songwriter. Jim had the good fortune of not living into his late '60s... it'd sure be interesting to see him at that age. Also, Dave Diamond did not arrive at KFRC in San Francisco until mid-1968. In the Spring of '67, when he advised the Doors to cut "Light My Fire," he was at the revolutionary Top 40 station KBLA in Burbank.

  • what happened to robbys face

  • robby reminds me of freddy krugger

  • What concert did they show after Ray talked about the intro?

  • @swanniG2 Hollywood Bowl, July 5, 1968

  • @SergeantReese Thank You!

  • haha that's awesome ray just came up with the intro out of nowhere

  • Jim Morrison is a GOD

  • my grandpa was friends with jims dad. he told my dad his son was in some band called the doors like it wasnt a big deal. he disowned him i guess. he was millitary guy

  • Ed Sullivan was watched by families on sunday night and suddenly Morrison said: HIGHER! hahaha Jim is a genious..

  • The only thing better than Chuck Norris is Ray Manzarek

  • i just can't get over how talented these guys were- i mean, Robby Krieger wrote Light My Fire- the song of the fucking Summer O' Love- when he was 20... what a skilled tunesmith. All of them.

  • robby krieguer you are so fucking awesome man wow i tell you you make me go on with everything all day long

  • I don't really care for Morrison i mean he was great an all but, every riff from every song is just damn epic, Robby deserves way more recognition for his work

  • morrison

  • i want to change my last name: its Sullivan.

  • The Beatles says: All you need is love, but Morrison says: Light my fire, is love but a different kind of love! Oh hell yeah! Morrison is the best songwriter in the fuckin' world!

  • Robby Krieger has a nice voice...and, I, too wish Ray Manzarek was my grandpa, or dad...heck, I would settle for uncle ;~) What neat guys!

  • The Doors are the greatest band on earth.

  • @logansdad26 with what they did to our society

  • This one time I took acid I remember everything started skipping and lagging. It looked just like this video. I was taken aback and just sort of trying to understand what was going on, not really remembering I was tripping. It was ok until I realized I was looking through my eyeballs. Anyone ever have that feeling?

  • THE DOORS ARE FUCKING LEGENDS!!!

  • THANKS for this----I saw The Doors in 1971 at Boston Arena, an almost tiny sports arena. Jim shot a case of beer and smashed a hole in the stage with the mike stand, then terrified the crowd by threatening to throw it at them like a spear....They set the place on fire that night, twice. And there WAS a big fire right across the street outside that night, a crazy chaos of the crowds and the fire departments all over the place...unforgettable.

  • What I remember about the Doors is once they broke on thru as one might say, magazines were saturated with Morrison pictures, stories etc.Once the New Haven incident happened, it ended! Miamie didn't help.I never thought of Morrison as a sex god. I loved his rebelliousness. Even tho I am sure he had some screws loose I didn't care. I like the rebel. Oh and that white shirt that always seemed to have dirty cuffs. All pics in mags back then he had that shirt on...didn't wash much I guess.

  • This is from 'When You're Strange' an excellent 2009 documentary. You can stream it on Netflix.

  • @pablpfanque ive watched it 11 times now its amazing

  • @pablpfanque This isn't from When You're Strange. THis is from The Doors Classic Albums DVD

  • i saw in a high times magazine where they interviewed robby krieger and he said when he wrote it he it was about lighting a joint

  • what the fuck did john mccain on doors album? @3:00

  • I saw the Doors minus Jim in 1972 in Owings Mills,Maryland..2,000 people in the round..I traded some Schlitz to Ray,who had a bottle of Jack next to his piano..I gave him 4 cans for a couple big gulps..he shared the beer with Robby..they sorta' looked my way at the end of the song..damn,i miss those days..if that had happened now they woulda' fined us for smuggling in beer n blew our high

  • im so tired of reading about people that clicked 'didn't like' about WHY they clicked that.... its in every god damn movie on youtube

  • @sharku22 well if you dont like it, you can geeeetttt ouutttttt :D haha

  • @moviemaking118 1 person's bitching about how he said higher. :P

  • you know? robbie say's you know a lot

  • Beautiful documentary!!!!!!!!

  • ray was born in 1939. He looks good for his age. Robby, being the youngest, looks older than everybody. John looks cool.

  • did the doors have a bassist?

  • @danthecoolman980

No, Ray played a fender rhodes piano bass wtih his left hand that sat on top of his organ. On the records they had a bassist over dub the rhodes bass to get low end, but ray played all the bass lines live with the rhodes piano bass.

  • @danthecoolman980 Nope, Ray played it with his left hand with his Rhodes Piano Bass on top of his organ.

  • @danthecoolman980 According to Ray Manzarek, they did audition at least two bass players, but they didn't like the way it made them sound.

  • robby looks older than everybody, even though he is younger

  • WOKE UP DIS MORNING, GOT THE CROSSROADS ON MY MIND

  • GIRL WE COULDNT GET MUCCH HIGHER

  • might sound stupid but i like "the instrumental" DOORS a bit more than JM

  • When John started to play the drums I was like holy crap man thats some good drummin

  • ray manzarek is a fuckin genius

  • love ray and robbie...john's pretty cool aswell

  • its so sad you can tell when any of the members start talking about jim you can see the sudden sadness in them especially robbie...they all miss him dearly and of cource we all miss him..but jim will never truley be dead because he is still here with us through his music and in our hearts... R.I.P. Jim Morrison ,December 8, 1943 – July 3, 1971

  • hey man...we DID the ed sullivan show...lol

  • what movie is this

  • @TWatsonism This is an episode of Classic Albums on VH1 Classic

  • The doors beat stevie wonder? I AM TORN BETWEEN THEM

  • where is this footage taken from???

  • In other words, you only needed one Ed Sullivan Show appearance to break out.

  • Classic Morrison to the censors after they said he'd never do another Ed Sullivan Show..."Hey man, we just did the Ed Sullivan Show."

  • @sportsoracle "Classic Morrison to the censors after they said he'd never do another Ed Sullivan Show..."Hey man, we just did the Ed Sullivan Show."."

They could have played dumb, as in 'oh mann, we practiced and practiced and it just got into us that ONE way, Sorry mann I didn't really mean to do it the original way. Please ForGive Us'.

I like it when people use the 'forgiveness angle' on christians that have a problem with reality.

  • FUCKIN AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Jim Ladd... Argh!! What a liberal hippie!

  • This song got me (and still does) from that opening gunshot of John Densmore !!

  • After hearing all these true stories I think the movie was accurate as it could be. I can't stop watching these. Love the Doors

  • Jim Ladd!!!!! that made mt day!

  • Anybody know the chords Robby is playing

  • @SUPERRMAN61 the chords are a minor and f sharp....cheers

  • He had such a different view of everything. His vocals just made the band.

  • Robby did a wonderful job writing this, but Jim totally reworked the lyrics melody.

  • hahahahaha we just did it CHEERS i love the doors :D

  • The beginning of this song is Beautiful

  • What's this off of?? It's great.

  • @BAMFfromNY Hey, Its from "Classic Albums" The Doors!

  • On the Ed Sullivan Show (not on this video for some reason), you can hear at the end of Light My Fire, someone on a microphone yell "fuck". I originally thought it to be Ray's voice but I'm not sure. My guess is Ray probably was pissed Jim sang the forbidden "higher" and realized they would be in trouble for it. But then again, it may be someone in the control room?! But, go to a different version of Ed Sullivan and the Doors and you'll hear it. It's too loud on this film here and you can't hear

  • @jcstriper I think you may be referring to Ray saying"C'mon" when they were really getting into the groove for the ending on the try to set the night on fire part.

  • Is this part of a larger documentary video???

  • @skcin7 Is it! Its from "The Doors Classic Albums!" GREAT SERIES MAN!!

  • @RayManzarekGod Thanks!!! Looking to download it now...

  • @skcin7 No problem. :), they have a ton of other DVD's, RUSH, Pink Floyd, lots of them!! They are all soo interesting!

  • the greatest band ever

  • light my fire was number 1 on the billboard until the beatles came out with all you need is love to be accurate

  • I wish ray was my grandpa

  • @xHoboMcGeex I wish Morrison was my grendpa....

  • funeral pier? All of my life I thought he said a few rope higher..... damn
