The b-model j10 is still not close to a 5th gen aircraft, and could likely suffer a less than 1:1 kill ratio to a 3rd gen aircraft (like the f-4 phantom). Less than 1:1 thrust ratio, inferior missiles, chinese overexaggeration and 4 non-combat crashes in a fleet of less than 60 is not great.

Actually, the J-10 is a direct design sold to them by the Israelis who did build their own aircraft, the IAI Lavi. It was costing too much and instead of throwing out billions away by storing the designs, they gave them to China. The Chinese took the Lavi, sized it up and called it the J-10.

Well what asr8805 was not quite right. This plane was based of the Lavi which was an Israeli project that was cancelled which involved a lot of tech from the American F16. The Israel sold the tech involved for that project to China (which the US was not happy about). So this fighter would not have been possible without American tech. But even China screwed the project as the J10 was intended as a multi-role fighter but came up short in air to air. Now it is been re-roled for ground support.

Without AWCS support, the stealthiness of F22 or F35 are of not that much useful. Turing on its own radar is like lighting up a torch in the dark - you can be seen for miles. You have to retain stealthiness by turning off the radar, i.e. you charge in blindfolded.
J10 is a STOL aircraft, and by looking at its very short take-off distance followed by immediate vertical climb in Zhuhai airshow, the thrust to weight issue should be much more healthier than the one you stated.
Have you also considered the cost issues? How expensive is a F22 or a F15, and how much is a J10? Also bare in mind that missile technology isn't exactly a weak spot in Chinese weapons industry. I read that the J-10B is a TWO SEAT variant of this jet, which can be used as a trainer, or fighter. It's dorsal spine is also enlarged to accommodate additional fuel, and electronics. Other than that, I couldn't find any additional information about the J-10B's alleged enhancements over the J-10A. Non the less, it is touted to be a very capable fighter.

The b-model j10 is still not close to a 5th gen aircraft, and could likely suffer a less than 1:1 kill ratio to a 3rd gen aircraft (like the f-4 phantom). Less than 1:1 thrust ratio, inferior missiles, chinese overexaggeration and 4 non-combat crashes in a fleet of less than 60 is not great.

Actually, the J-10 is a direct design sold to them by the Israelis who did build their own aircraft, the IAI Lavi. It was costing too much and instead of throwing out billions away by storing the designs, they gave them to China. The Chinese took the Lavi, sized it up and called it the J-10.

Well what asr8805 was not quite right. This plane was based of the Lavi which was an Israeli project that was cancelled which involved a lot of tech from the American F16. The Israel sold the tech involved for that project to China (which the US was not happy about). So this fighter would not have been possible without American tech. But even China screwed the project as the J10 was intended as a multi-role fighter but came up short in air to air. Now it is been re-roled for ground support.

Without AWCS support, the stealthiness of F22 or F35 are of not that much useful. Turing on its own radar is like lighting up a torch in the dark - you can be seen for miles. You have to retain stealthiness by turning off the radar, i.e. you charge in blindfolded.
J10 is a STOL aircraft, and by looking at its very short take-off distance followed by immediate vertical climb in Zhuhai airshow, the thrust to weight issue should be much more healthier than the one you stated.

Have you also considered the cost issues? How expensive is a F22 or a F15, and how much is a J10? Also bare in mind that missile technology isn't exactly a weak spot in Chinese weapons industry. Just because many of the Chinese missile types are unknown to public in the west does not mean automatically that these are inferior to western designs.

As for AWAC support, the US airforce has a larger fleet of AWACs than China does, obviously would provide it.
Finally, you are forgetting the new fighters of US military are fitted or upgraded with advanced AESA radars, having LPI features (difficult to detect via PESA radars)
PESA radars are what chinese jets use.

When the need comes for more raptors, the price tag would drop from 135M, to 80Mil.
Nontheless, the raptor has a theoretical kill ratio against almost all 4.5th generation fighters of beyond 1-10 as seen during the simulation fights between raptors and F-15s/F-16s during training exercises.
Similarly F-35s, being cheaper, while maintaining great advantage would also be cost effective

Chinese missiles have never proven themselves, and previous missiles that have (russian), proved to be inferior. Now we could only extrapolate the data, for it is unlikely that their technological developements would have exceeded the US within such short period of time.
Also keep in mind that with specifications we've known, the PL-12(their newest) has a range much less than the AIM-120C, or AIM-120D.
Extrapolating that, i could fairly certain to say that PL-12 is inferior.

Missiles are a weak spot in the Chinese industry.
Having to build a seperate rocket to shoot down one of their own satellites while not making a perfect hit is sad when compared to the US attempt with a modified AEGIS missile scoring a perfect hit.
Perfect hit is when the target is hit without leaving much debrees.
Now, the F-15E is an old platform, though it is vastly superior than the J-10, it is retiring soon. Along with F-16, F-18. All would be replaced by F-35A,B,C

Most military experts at world affairs board state that by the time J-xx or the chinese duplicat of the F-22 comes out, the F-22 would have been upgraded enough to defeat the current F-22.
Keep in mind US jets aren't labelled the same way as Russian jets.
For example, F-15 has a span of 30+ years, and is it the same as before? no.
There is F-15A/B/C/D/E/K
Will the chinese F-22 copy match todays F-22 in 4 years? doubtfully. Most experts say around 10 years.

despite being the equilvanet of F-16
till the plane gets some kills under it's belt it's just for shown
and despite what you read this is a multirole plane,
maybe have a 50/50 chance with a F-35
but against decicated hunter killers like F-15and F-22s
it has little chance of surviving

50/50? no way man.
1. J-10 has a fairly large Radar Cross Section of beyond +10, where as the F-35 has a -20 Radar Cross Section.
2. J-10 has standard 4-4.5gen avionics, where as F-35 has the state of the art AESA Radar as well as 5th generation Radar
3. Chinese Pilots receive under 1/10th flight time the US Pilots do.
all that sums up to a 10%-15% chance against an F-35
This fighter is equivilent to the Export Version of F-16, not the Domestic.

1. Pilot Skill is A factor, but when faced against a plane thats an entire generation ahead, pilot's skill plays a tiny role.

Why? When they are facing a fighter jet that cannot be seen until its too late, when facing one who has 10X more training, when facing one who can see you way before you see it, when facing one who has 5X radar power than you, WHAT Makes you think they can pull off anything other than ejection seat?

Actually the F-15 IS the definition of invincibility. Thousands of combat sorties, and over 200 air to air kills without a single loss. No other fighter in the history of aviation has a record anything like that.

Whatever. Our F-15s, F-35s, and F-22s with their superior trained pilots are the definition of air superiority. The USAF is the supreme air power. Your J-10 won't even see the F-22 before it rams an AAMRAM up it's ass.

its undeniable that J-10 would be a better aircraft than the recent ones that's been around nowadays. however, first i apologize myself earlier, secondly, segregator just pissed me off, he is almost saying that "everything in the west and its allies suck". i think as an ally of the west i would not feel good about that, so as you guys don't you agree? i don't care if you won't forgive me, but just let me allow to clarify myself here.

I read that the J-10B is a TWO SEAT variant of this jet, which can be used as a trainer, or fighter. It's dorsal spine is also enlarged to accommodate additional fuel, and electronics. Other than that, I couldn't find any additional information about the J-10B's alleged enhancements over the J-10A. Non the less, it is touted to be a very capable fighter.
