This was the best HBO Theme by far. It's always been my favorite. It brings back a lot of memories. I also have Television's Greatest Hits, Vol. 7: Cable Ready, which has that theme on it. Thank you for uploading this video.
I love these comments lol. When my sister and I were kids she wrote lyrics for the music, well really all it was were the letters H B O placed strategically with the beat. Sing along, it's not hard to figure out when to say it!
This intro makes you feel like you are about to witness the most incredible event in the history of the universe! ... Then Police Acedemy II comes on.
Man those were the days... I remember running into the living room as a child when I heard this music...funny how watching this brings back so many memories
@joshscobey Yes it did, like "Fraggle Rock" and "Not Necessarily the News", but that wasn't the primary draw then. Most people got it mainly for the movies.
I posted this on my forums. We were having a "beat the old school" clip. Fraggle Rock, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, and Batman adventures can't outdo this. Thus, I won. :D Thanks for posting this so long ago, so I could win today. :D
You knew when the shit was about to to go down when you heard that tune. It seemed like the whole family was around for the main event and it always seemed to happen around eight for the hyped movies you know the big hits.
I was thinking about this song all day today and decided to look it up on youtube. What do you know? I absolutely love this HBO song and intro. Thanks for posting.
It would be badass if HBO just started using this intro again without warning. Shit, I would tune in just knowing I would get to see this every Saturday night.
I miss this so much! Thank you so much for posting this!! I was sitting on my couch and for no reason at all this popped in my memory. I was hoping it was on youtube and watching it right now, I clapped and yelled hell yeah!!!

I love the nostalgia! Reminds me of the movies shown during this era. Close encounters, big trouble in little china, streets of fire, national lampoons vacation.
March of 1978, HBO was installed on the enormous 27 inch Zenith Color TV in what was lovingly called, the “rec” room, of my family home in Green Brook, NJ.
From that point one I became obsessed with two things. Cable TV and HBO Guides!
Vintage HBO Guides on Facebook already has about 15 complete guides and grows bigger every day...check it out!
Gives me absolute chills of an excited nostalgia. Even with the short version of this clip (the one without the city involved), the HBO Feature Presentation" animation was always something I was excited by... The Music and all that. omg!! i cant believe you put this on... aww i made a friend.. i love ths opening.. i have it on tape so many times.. , as i used to always tape movies .. wow.. thank you!
Yeah, as jess said, it was a third opening; the first two had a guy changing the cable box (with or without the entire family), then there was this one, and the really short one that started in space.
Bata of course was made by Apple sometime in the 80s i belive. they would be in like the back of the store, and only about 5% of households in the nation had these. As time went on, they wouldnt sell, and the company went out of business.
