  • All we can do is look back and remember a great group of musicians that changed music history for all of us. As a guitar player Skynyrd was a refreshing break from the mainstream music to learn at the time. We will always remember as well as be glad to live the life experience that this one of a kind band gave us. Lynryd Skynyrd will forever be in our hearts and souls.

  • TRAGIC TRAGIC FUKIN TRAGIC

    :-(

  • Great song never heard it before.

  • train roll on.....

  • Wish I could "like" it twice! A great band was lost definately! Rest in peace. So great to listen to today. Nothing can ever take their place. Takes me back......

  • Wish I could "like" it twice! A great band was lost definately! Rest in peace. So great to listen to today. Takes me back......

  • yall changed rock n roll now rock heaven see yall soon rip god bless u and our troops

  • Tuesday's Gone still gives me goose bumps. Still love you Southern Dudes

  • Lynyrd Skynrd will live forever in our hearts and minds through their wonderful ughsongs. There one of a kind and represent what classic rock n roll is about from the 70's. Although today in 2011 some try to classify them as country music, they are Southern Rock from Jacksonville, Florida. I can only think of a few other songs outside of Freebird that got as much radio airplay in the 70's & early 80's. Back in the day most live local rock bands almost always played this tune as always requested.

  • Fuck yeah this is music

  • NO the plane engine was busted when they took off but the pilots said it wass still safe to fly when they were in the air the engine got cought on fire and the two pilost said seat down and strap yur self in and they crashed landed and one of them who survived had his rib cage stinking out ssoon or later patrols had found them and found 6 dead :( R.I.P

  • And to think that there is ONLY one left who still performs under the LS title...how depressing is that?

  • very nice video, thanks for sharing bro...

  • Legends......they didn't know what they were doing, because they loved what they were doing. Some of us can only be so forunate. Only a few of us will become legends, and live forever. Ronny, Allen, Stevie, Cassie, Leon, and Billy are already in playing in a different place. We have what they left behind. An echo of what and who they were-not as individuals, but as a whole. As a BAND. Ronnie asked "if I leave here tomorrow"....we still remember him and his band. FOREVER

  • The plane didn't simply run out of fuel. The pilot dumped fuel to reduce weight and misjudged the amount he'd need to make his emergency landing. He came up short.

  • i must say this is my favorite band and musicians ever! i love them! Tuesdays Gone was perfect for this! and ps i get to go see them for my first experience cuz im only 18:( september 2nd in ohio! im driving over 8 hours just to see what was passed on from the original legends:)

By the way: that pic at 2:57 is the Grateful Dead on the steps of 710 Ashbury Street in San Francisco.

  • I was going to see them in Clarksville Tn around that time.

    What a tradgic loss.

  • 33 years ago we lost a great band. Rest in peace Ronnie, Steve, Cassie and Dean. Fly on proud birds, you're free at last.

  • @Matt5581 what i woulda gave to see them play live before the crash :*(

  • @DinosaursOnCrack1 You, me and many others. Glad someone feels the same way I do. I saw them last summer but they're just not the same band they was in the 70s. Ronnie made the band!

  • @waylon972 I mean Im 14 and this is honestly some of the greatest music ive ever heard i just got a skynyrd cd Icon 2 for christmas and I love it I wish I could of seen them live in the 70's.

  • @DinosaursOnCrack1 The music in the seventies was the best. But be young young man. Enjoy life. Your freebird will arrive someday!

  • @Matt5581 That is the ultimate tribute to Lynryd Skynyrd!!!!

  • @Matt5581 amen

  • the world has not been the same since ronnie left us, ronnie you will never knew the influence you had on my life. each time i hear simple man i will always think of you.i know your in heaven with your heaven with your mom and dad and sister as well as steve, cassie, leon, billy, and allen and looking down and saying thank you johnny for keeping my music and memory alive. ronnie you asked the question " if i leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me ?.ronnie i will always remeber you.

  • Thank you for the memorial.. back in 1996 i worked for Gary and Dale as a nanny for their two gorls Mary And Annie.. every october 20 Gary spend time with himself griefing and remebering his bandmembers.. he will never forget..

  • I remember it like yesterday i still get tears in my eyes when i hear freebird thank you lynyrd skynyrd for being there for all.

  • the picture of ronnie vanzants grave in this video is his old one until it was robbed after that they moved him to Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery in jacksonville FL

  • Beautiful

  • Lynyrd Skynyrd has it been the same ever sence that plane crash in 1977

  • i was at their last concert here in greenville.

could not believe it when i read the paper the next morning.

    breaks my heart still.

  • This is one of my favorite songs.

  • There is simply nothing close to this anymore. I guess Ronnie went a lot of years before a lot of us, but when we go, I don't think there will be much left of what was rock-not many to remember, not many to play. Wish it could stay the same, but nothing seems to.

  • Gone, but never forgotten.

  • Tuesday's Gone is one of my favorite songs

  • RIP JoJo. You are singing backup to Ronnie again. FLY ON!!

  • r.i.p ronnie,billy and the rest of L.Y.N.Y.R.D. S.K.Y.N.Y.R.D.

  • How the fuck can a plane run out of fuel during midflight? Did they just find someone off the street to fly the plane? Soooo sad!

  • steveb234-pretty much, the pilot SCHEDULED to fly was very experienced, and NO accidents, but he DIDN'T fly, they wouldn't have crashed! The cousin of the pilot to be has made video (s) on here, found out thru him.

  • I was at that last concert in Greenville South Carolina in October 1977. I kept the ticket stub and the Street Survivor album a few years.

I sure wish I had those now.

I really thought it was a publicity stunt for a long time. I fully expected a Back from the Dead album. I will say that they could have never played before a more appreciative like minded audience. If knew then what I know now........

  • wileycoyoteengineer-I saw them May '76. Feel VERY lucky I did! Yeah I didn't keep mine, not a keeper of all that stuff (damn dust etc allergies) but wish I would've kept mine. One of the best concerts EVER.

  • im 10 and i love this band :D poor ppl :( y did they die in he crash send bak ppl

  • VEHICON1999-Yes, 3 band members, 2 pilots and their road manager did die.

  • Homenagem *

  • A melhor Homengem que se pode fazer é todos os dias ouvir a melhor BANDA DE SEMPRE.

  • Bela homenagem!! Parabéns!! \o/

  • That plane crash happened almost 10 years before i was born, and Skynyrd has still become a huge influence for me. The one thing about great bands like this one, is that no matter what happens there will always be young fans like me and the millions my age and even younger to carry on their proud legacy. I firmly believe that Skynyrd is the greatest band to every grace this planet, but thats just my opinion. R.I.P. and long live Lynyrd Skynyrd

  • i totally agree with you on this bc i was born in 1988 and skynyrd is a huge influence on me they are my favorite band one thing about ronnie and the band their music will always live on

  • Why the photo of the Grateful Dead in San Francisco @ 2:56- lol

  • I was at their "last" show as well. I was at the show LS did back in either '94 or '95 in Greenville which was their first time back here since that fateful night in '77.

  • Free Birds at last. Fly high forever!

  • Comment removed

  • I was there Oct 19,1977 at Greenville Memorial Auditorium, My first concert and the last for some. I saw Ronnie twirl the mic for the last time. Fly on free bird.

  • Awesome video

  • yes he is

  • is ronnie the one singing in this song ?

  • @purplemonkeymouth yes ronnie was the one singing

  • @purplemonkeymouth

    yes he is.

  • The day that music died...

  • Yes the original grave was vandilized and the family have moved the body to an undisclosed location . the family and some close friends are the only ones who know where. As far as Johnny replacing Ronnie that was never the intent Johnny loved and looked up to ronnie and has carried on the legacy to honor his brother and fallen band mates

To a true fan this the utmost tribute

    God bless !!

  • @bulldog32220 why would someone want to vandilize there grave, thats just completely ignorant, those bastards should go to hell

  • that bastard HAS gone to hell

  • @bulldog32220 I get mad that people vandalized the graves. I really want to know who did that...I mean what kind of person would do that?

  • o i forgot. they did it b/c the urban legend was he was buried in a neil young shirt. which was indeed false

  • a couple of guys got into his origanl grave and pulled his body out. the family moved his body to a private grave site now i believe.

  • Hmm, at 2:56 there's a picture of the Grateful Dead... You might want to remove it. :)

  • I dont mind the new band ,there not bad ,but the original was it,u will never replace Ronnie,His sole is lost in the band along with the others that passed in the plane crash and now......

  • Johnny has stated numerous times that he was not trying to replace Ronnie, only trying to keep the spirit of Lynyrd Skynyrd alive. He was asked to join the band, he did not ask them. I think Vicious Cycle is the best album the new lineup has released so far, although Endangered Species was a good album as well.

  • u bet!Brother there will never be another Ronnie he was the altimate songwriter...

  • agreed. Best song writer than ever was born.

  • being from tn and southern born and bred there loss is real hard on all of us they came up like we did poor not haveing much and yes fighting is in our blood i guess, but it was a very sad day and still is hope to see all of them one day.rip

  • Damn 32 years ago, sad day. I saw them everytime they played San Francisco. We were always up front & center, what a trip it was.

  • their plane crashed exactly 32 years ago today

  • Gods.....

    [*]

  • I still shed years..

  • I was just getting into them and I was driving with my father and I heard it on the radio, I was 13 years old. That was so sad. I STILL love Skynyrd..

  • Im 38 yrs. old and grew up on the west side of Jax. Fl., in the same neighborhood some of the members did. On Oct. 20, 2007, exactly 30 years later AND at dusk (when the plane crash happened) I went outside and for a moment the sky looked an undescribable shade of orange. Then I saw approx. 30 white birds(1 for each year since) fly directly overhead and I KNEW this was a sign that they were there for that brief moment saying hello since I had remembered them and always had since I was little.

  • Truely the day the music died. BTW, if you want 2 know where their gitfiddles are, I hope a museum that we all can see, if not, I hope you don't want it for yourself to sell, then you would be a scumbag or as Ronnie would say, a carpetbagger. No Offense, I hope, just a word of caution from one Skynarnd fan to another-Dave/JW

  • Man Loved em.Grew upwith there music. Was just wonderin.Does anyone know where Steve Gaines Black Les Paul,or Allen Collins Gibson are at?These guitars should be in a museum.RIP to those we lost.

  • We had tickets for their gig in SF that was canceled when their plane crashed. I still have their last album that had the cover changed after that terrible day. Nice job, thanks.

  • this band is so awsome i wan to meet jonny van zant so bad rip Lynyrd Skynyrd

  • Cried like a baby,when it happened.
