• @sweet9sour This video is two years old. When I edited this video, I was still a bit unfamiliar with my editing program, hence all the "umm's".

  • @sweet9sour It's actually "a lot" not "alot" and also "pretty alot" is grammatically wrong. :)

  • its a kind of coffee scent. like a menthol coffee scent?

  • umm u look like ur reading from something are you?

  • @blueflury I was reading some notes I'd made in a Notepad file, along with some information about ingredients from the website.

  • i think the smell is a little odd--like they're trying to cover up the original carmex scent with this vanilla and it doesn't work and just smells like a weird combination of the two. but that's just me and smells are very personal.

  • i LOVE this lipblam! its liek my little superhero! (seventeen magazine hehe) i've been using softlips lipbalm for a LONG time! but then my friend got me this as a present and decided to give it a try...now ive MOVED ONN from softlips and now sticking with my little super hero ;)

  • Regarding salicylic acid and aspirin, aspirin is basically a solid form of salicylic acid with a couple of other chemicals mixed in.

  • I have the colored one in peach and i LOVE it!! But little tip, its not peach whatsoever. Its more of a rosy color but you should review that one!

  • Can you please do a softlips lip balm review ;)

  • It taste like vanilla!

  • carmex moisturizes your lips not dry it out.

  • you can buy it at wal mart and it cost a little over $3. I love it. it will heal cracked lips in like a day. I had really dry cracked lips and hey felt better almost instantly!

  • I love this stuff but dont think it last very long I can use one up in no time!

  • hey what is fiberglass

  • do they have this in a multi pack?

  • i saw this at target also. and the cherry and strawberry ones are pretty much the same as the normal one. and it does not dry out my lips and i love it! i love the feel cuz i no it's working

    loveee carmex!

  • how long did the stick last ?

  • i've heard people saying they can go through a stick in two weeks if they use it all the time

    it takes me two months

  • LOVELOVELOVE cherry carmex, too :)

  • I know that the Carmex website states they only use 1% of salicylic acid in their lip balms. Just enough to exfoliate, but not, like, strip the skin off your lips. x3 It's so all those other nice ingredients can do their job, the site says. I use the strawberry click stick. <3

  • i love your glasses ... what are they/model?

  • Your skin looks so dewy and glowy in this video!

  • I love strawberry carmex in the click stick.

  • i discovered this last month and have already bought 4 backups. i love this stuff and im pretty picky about lip balm.

  • I *love* this product (love Carmex, too). I actually wrote to Carmex directly about how I loved their product (which I do) and how I was wondering if they had any free samples, and they gave me that one (the ultra hydrating lip balm) and they gave me about 3 click stick ones. I agree I love the cherry and strawberry flavors they have! :D

    Pinkie: You're beautiful :D

  • luv cherry carmex too

  • idk what it is but i prefer burt's bees 10x more than carmex.. the original carmex smells kind of funny to me

  • camex tasted so beastly....but it works great...i have an yellow on its in an little pot and it have an yellow cap, too.

  • i'm looking to buy a really good chapstick or lip balm because i just finished my burt's bees. would you recommend this or the nivea?

and what does this smell like?

  • I love Carmex. The strawberry click stick one is great on my opinion.

  • there is an other legend that carmex gives u cancer people keep telling me i tell them if it gives u cancer why would there sell it :)

  • cigarettes give you cancer and they still sell them

  • i just bought this product today and i must say i'm pleasantly surprised! i agree with you :)

  • i love your hair in this vid!

  • i LOVE Carmex! it tastes like shit but works GREAT! a little on at night before bed..i wake up with nice plump hydrated lips. (and ive tried vaseline like that and hated it.) plus my lips get HORRRIBLY dry/cracked/peeling...all day.. (especially the peeling...GROSS)

=\ also i get cracks in the corners of my lips in the winter and i use this and it goes away the next day.

  • same

  • I'm really funny about chap stick/lip balm/any lip moisturizers period. I don't like the chap stick form and the little containers gross me out just because you have to dig into it w/your finger and we all know our hands are not the cleanest part of our bodies.

  • So with that being said for a while now (probably the last 2 1/2 years) I've been using just the plain vaseline in the small containers. I do apply it with my finger but only after I shower that way I know my hands are clean. It keeps my lips nicely moisturized and gives a nice shine to them... But I'm just getting tired of it. That's why... I'm really excited to try the Carmex's Moisture Plus Ultra. I bought the regular kind in the tube a few nights ago and the smell makes me sick.

  • That's why when I saw this review I was like YES! There is an alternative to that nasty smell + the good moisturizer part. Thx for the great review pinkiecharm!! Your reviews are always on point. Keep 'em comming!

    MsPreggo

    ♥♥

  • I used to hate Carmex due to the scent. But once I tried the cherry version, it's now my absolute favourite lipbalm~! I recommend it to everyone I know. Love it love it love it!! Simply the best lipbalm ever~!

  • agreed.

  • I love Carmex, but this product [simply for the packaging] irritates me. I tried it, and it worked just the same as the Carmex in the pot/tube/squeeze form.

I think the only reason they introduced it like this, in the 'luxe and plush' tube is so people would feel like they're using some ultra fabulous brand when they use it in public, when they're really using uber cheap but uber effective carmex.

    :/

    Just my opinion.

    Don't attack me.

  • I think the reason why people say it has fiberglass in it is because of the menthol in it. I've always heard from people, whether it's true or not, that menthol cigarettes contain fiberglass.

  • actually some of them do. as far as i know. i heard that marlboro menthols do.

im unfortunately a smoker and i smoke menthols (not those though....but still). causes the lungs to bleed.

  • can u please review the covergirl tru blend press foundetion

  • Lovely hair in this! :D

  • this vs. burts bee's???

  • omg i luv burts bees 2 is carmex! for me!

  • I have been looking for this at Wal Mart evertime I went there! Now that I know its at WalGreens I'm going to finally get it. Wee. Thanks for the review, I love carmex.

  • helloo

so i went to walgreens today but i had no idea where to look for it

so i went to the register where they have some chapsticks but this carmex looked to fancy to be there and i didn't see it

where in walgreens did you get it??

  • The chapstick should be at the back towards the Pharmacy by the coughdrops (:

  • i'm so glad you did this review. i have all the other kinds of carmex & was wondering about this one. thank you. :)

  • can u do a review on mac lipstick in creme cup

  • Asprin is basically salicylic acid and salicylic acid is not good for your skin especially in the winter it dries it out too much becuase its a harsh chemical

  • Just a warning about lanolin which is in all Carmex balms and some skin care products people can be allergic to it. The only reason I know is because i used Carmex because someone recommended it to me saying how good it was and i used it like it however woke up one morning and my lips were swollen end result was that I was allergic to Lanolin. Its a same i really liked the cherry Balms

  • Hey Irene, great review!! Question though, is there any higher spf than 4 for lip products? I use the Chapstick spf4. Is there anything higher than that??? Thank you!

  • mandarinachinita: Oh sure there are lippies with higher SPF. I know MAC has a couple but I'd have to check on the SPF rating. Carmex has an SPF of 15.

    I hope that helps. :)

  • @pinkiecharm they have spf 15:

please do a review on the blistex deep renewal lip protectant/ sunscreen spf 15 :) it'sin a white tube

review that and the silk &shine lip protectant/ sunscreen spf15 in the purpleish tube..maybe even vs them against eachother PLEASE (same thing just different types)

  • Hi MandarinaChinita! Nivea has a balm with spf25. It´s called Nivea Sun, and smells like lemons. It goes on clear, so you can wear any color on top of it.

  • @mandarinachinita I have one in my hands right now. its called HL 30. the spf is 30!!! its used for cold sores and chapped lips. it doesnt have a sent. but i found it was like WHOA! hahaa.

  • @mandarinachinita softlips has spf of 20

  • What do you do with all your old makeup. I know that you seem to buy a lot of it. Perhaps you can auction allot of it off, or give it away as prizes once a month. I think your video's are awesome, keep em comming!!!

  • Malificent07: If it's turned rancid, I throw it out but I do use it all at some point.

  • It seems I was wrong about not being able to get Carmex here in the UK!

I was in Boots today, and there, hanging above the Chapsticks, was Carmex in a squeezy tube (presumably the original) and Cherry Carmex lip balm in a little round tin. I think they were £2.44 each. I've never noticed them before

I'm tempted to go back and get the cherry one to try

  • wow your lips are lot bigger with camax or how its spelld! it looks relly nice

  • wow you must have a lot of make up considering how many great reviews you do

  • can you PLEASE review the new Mac Studio Sculpt foundation?

  • macbbyxd: I'm sorry but I don't use MAC foundations.

  • Thanks for the review! I was never a Carmex fan, but this looks/sounds like something I might like =)

  • haha you have a disclaimer...wow

  • luckystarz044: Well not by choice. *lol*

  • thank you so much for this review! i have very dry lips that get irritated easily so i will definatly check this out =]

  • if i were a company i would definetly want you as the advertiser your so good at reviewing. 100 times superior then all the rest of the youtube reviewers

  • hellolanna: I wouldn't go that far but thank you so much. :)

  • Your skin is amazing! Now share your skin care regimen with us now WOMAN!!! lol j/j but seriously, it's a must!:)

  • I went out and bought this today because I'm a HUGE carmex fan so I figured this would be perfect.. I'm actually not that impressed. Seems to wear off easilly and has same texture as vaseline. I think I'll stick with my good ol basic carmex. Great review though!

  • I agree...definitely feels like vaseline..

  • Dr. Monte Meltzer, chief of dermatology at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, stated in an Associated Press article dated Jan. 2006, that lip balm often includes ingredients that cause tingling, such as salicylic acid, phenol and menthol. Some of these are exfoliants that cause lips to peel. In turn, the skin of the lips can become thinner and less able to protect against the elements. So people need to apply again, and the vicious cycle continues.

  • pyewacket60: While this may be true of some lipbalms, I haven't had this experience with any of the lippies I've used. It all comes down to what you use I suppose. :)

  • Thanks for all the info in your review. I'm a Carmex fan. I used to always have the jar with me. Now I use the cherry stick version. I think I will be trying this out.

  • omgggg u should have a live chat tonight! Hope ya have one soon...my pc was down all week and i finally got it up

  • I actually think it is very useful to know what is in these products, and what these ingredients do, to help me make an informed choice.

If anyone wants to skip that part, it's their prerogative, but they should remember that others may find it interesting.

A review isn't solely about one person's personal opinion of a product, but I think Irene does a very good job.

I watched the first part even though we cannot get Carmex in the UK, as much of it may apply to other brands as well

  • bellyrockin: Thank you. :)

  • i didn't know this product was out. i also cannot live without my cherry carmex!

  • Very good and informational review. Thank you, Irene!!

  • You look very beautiful in this video, I'm going to try and find this product!

I kept spacing out in some of the video, so I'm not 100% sure if you covered it or not...but the reason people think Carmex dries your lips out is because it is used as a canker/cold sore treatment as well, so it does have some drying properties.

  • Your hurr be mighty sexy this evening!

  • molecule77: All the other information is what makes it a review. That was a very stupid comment.

  • Comment removed

  • molecule77: I was not being nasty, YOUR profession is in chemistry. Not everyone else's. Irene is telling everyone about it so they understand the product a little better. It is rude of you to tell her viewers where to skip in the video.

  • your "profession" may be in chemistry but not everyone who watches her videos are, she was just explaining what was in it so that other people would know

  • molecule 77, the world doesn't revolve around you, so just because YOU know the ingredients, it doesn't mean that EVERYONE does. So how about you PISS off eh? But hey, that's just my PERSONAL opinion.

  • Yeyy you hurt my feelings! You must feel quite accomplished, great job for today! Lets see who you can tell to piss off tomorrow, your education transpires through all borders and shows what kind of a person you are. You represent your country well. Well done.

  • haha, well it seems that you agree with me considering you removed all your other previous comments (finally, youtube allows the chance for people to retract their idiocy).

And yes, my comment does reflect who I am; I'm someone that doesn't tolerate people who get on youtube and unnecessarily take out their frustrations on hard working people like pinkiecharm, who take great effort and time to post up very informational reviews. Yes, even her ramblings are useful.

Keep up the good work Pinky!

  • i dont even know where to begin! do u know how to read? I never said she didnt work hard enough! NEVER!! The only reason i removed my comments its bc of people like urself, and well if u r someone who doesnt "tolerate" people who take out their frustrations on hard people, well i suggest you quit your day job (if u have 1) BC u will spend a LOT of ur precious Canadian time posting your "PISS OFF" responses, Pick ur battles and leave me alone. LEAVE ME THE FUCK ALONE.

  • molecule77: You're entitled to your opinion and I've never said anyone had to watch any of this video in its entirety.

  • Great Review!

  • lipbalm contain fatt from animals. the left overs that is not used to eat, is boiled and the fat on top is used in lipbalm is what i have heard. buy i hope its not true :( eew

  • it's not true. most lip balm uses petroleum. not animal by-products.

  • Can you do a review on MAC's "Tippy" Blush from the hello kitty collection??

  • I agree. That would be really helpful

  • = )

  • Another myth about carmex is that the camphor in it is addictive (it is not).

Aspirin = acetylsalicylic acid, which is hydrolyzed into its drug form in the body, salicylic acid (which encourages the skin to shed more readily, resulting in more new cells--thus smoother lips). Some might say THIS is the causes the overdrying of lips, but the concentration of salicylic acid relative to moisturizing agent indicates that the product is designed to encourage new, smooth skin and then moisturize it.

  • ariscotm: I agree which I think is what I was trying to say in this video. *lol* I honestly think people worry too much about what's in their lipbalm. ;)

  • im allergic to lanolin makes me come out in a rash ever since i was small

  • I think lanilin is the oil of sheeps fur, and it actually helps hair grow, which is why you can find it in some shampoos...i wouldn't really want to put that on my lips, i could be wrong though :/

  • Are you feeling better?

  • The Moisture Plus leaves that white film on my lips that I hate!!

  • dont forget guys, carmex is also used for cold sore, hence, the salicylic acid.

  • i wish i could use carmex...but im allergic to something in it and it makeup me rash up.

  • Cosmetics — Petrochemicals are very prevalent in cosmetics. Examples include lip gloss, which is commonly made from PETROLIUM oil, and nail polish, which contains petroleum-derived solvents such as toluene. Many cosmetics on the market contain harmful phthalates. There are lists of cosmetics by brand name and the hazardous ingredients contained in them

  • is there a website where one could find out which ones contain harmful ingridients?

  • aspirin's active ingredient is salicylic acid (cant spell) ...just look at generic brands

  • blahishness88: Yes, thank you.

  • most lip balms contain petroleum too.

  • Thanks for the info. Pinkiecharm. Which do you like the Best - Carmex Moisture Plus or the Nivea Lip Care?
