Besides, Madonna might have found it difficult to understand the questions at first but she answered them all and I have the impression she had to think a little bit to give a smart answer, not because the question was stupid but quite the opposite.

I indeed agree with what fredusco has said that is the exact reason why I'm about to graduate in journalism from UF that way hopefully I'll get a job in Brasil with a better understanding of the American nuances and expected questioning I'd be able to conduct a much better interview.

Essa entrevistadora é superestimada. É uma falsa intelectual. As perguntas são rasteiras, mal elaboradas e com um inglês de dar vergonha a qualquer falante da língua. Probably this title was given by a brazilian, because here in Brasil people are mocking the journalist because of that interview. Talking about cultures, people would be pleased when someone tries to speak their languages with errors or not, because it's a signal of respect. So, You kesgel, if you're not a brazilian, just be more respectful with Brasil, because we're NOT retards or stupid people. If you really are brazilian, you should be ashamed of your attitude.
Marilia Gabriela had the courage to ask questions that no other interviewer would do. And Madonna answers them. She tries to escape being sarcastic some times but ends up answering all the questions, and very honestly, in my opinion. I don't remember any other interviewer who had the guts to make Madonna talk about bisexuality, disaffection, coming of age and all those subjects that the queen of pop doesn't like to talk about.
I think the big problem here are the translation of the questions. Some questions would sound brilliant in Portuguese, but in English they don't make much sense.
Not having an interpreter was an amateur mistake and Marilia Gabriela probably regretted it by the third question. Still, with some good will anyone can see that this is actually a great interview.
@fredusco Maybe it goes further than that. Maybe it is a matter of culture as well. However, I do not blame Madonna for that as she might be most of the times interviewed by very superficial people. In this case, not only the translations were not done properly, but this interviewer in particular has the characteristic of making deeper and more dense questions.

Madonna is not used to deeper and uncomfortable questions, she easily could just have left the room (we know she has this kind of temper), but instead of refusing to do the interview, she stayed til the end and answered to all the questions (even to the incomprehensible ones) and did it honestly. That is the reason why I think that, despite all the failures, this is a great interview and the props go to Madonna as well.

I know for a fact that Marilia, in the other hand, did not like it. This interview almost didn't make it to air. MG used to be a big fan and, according to her, the questions were made for Madonna to shine (her words).

Essa entrevistadora é superestimada. É uma falsa intelectual. As perguntas são rasteiras, mal elaboradas e com um inglês de dar vergonha a qualquer falante da língua. Sinto vergonha alheia de assistir à esse vexame. Madonna foi muito paciente com ela, pois uma das perguntas foi um tanto ofensiva, devido à infeliz escolha de palavras e péssima construção verbal.

A Madonna é o que é, ela não precisa adorar nem puxar o saco dos outros como a maioria dos artistas. Outros artistas são simpaticos, aparentimente, por medo de perder a fama. A Madonna não tem medo disso. Ela pode ser chata as vezes, mas é quem ela é, e isso me faz ser mais fã ainda, porque sou fã de verdade. Esse jeito "kick ass'' da Madonna que a torna tão especial. Probably this title was given by a brazilian, because here in Brasil people are mocking the journalist because of that interview. Talking about cultures, people would be pleased when someone tries to speak their languages with errors or not, because it's a signal of respect. Marilia Gabriela had the courage to ask questions that no other interviewer would do. And Madonna answers them. She tries to escape being sarcastic some times but ends up answering all the questions, and very honestly, in my opinion. I don't remember any other interviewer who had the guts to make Madonna talk about bisexuality, disaffection, coming of age and all those subjects that the queen of pop doesn't like to talk about.

I think the big problem here are the translation of the questions. Some questions would sound brilliant in Portuguese, but in English they don't make much sense.
Not having an interpreter was an amateur mistake and Marilia Gabriela probably regretted it by the third question. Still, with some good will anyone can see that this is actually a great interview.

@fredusco Maybe it goes further than that. Maybe it is a matter of culture as well. However, I do not blame Madonna for that as she might be most of the times interviewed by very superficial people. In this case, not only the translations were not done properly, but this interviewer in particular has the characteristic of making deeper and more dense questions.

Madonna is not used to deeper and uncomfortable questions, she easily could just have left the room (we know she has this kind of temper), but instead of refusing to do the interview, she stayed til the end and answered to all the questions (even to the incomprehensible ones) and did it honestly. That is the reason why I think that, despite all the failures, this is a great interview and the props go to Madonna as well.

@fulanaarvore I believe that, secretly, Madonna enjoyed this interview. That was a rare opportunity for her to show that she is more than just another shallow and silly celebrity.
I know for a fact that Marilia, in the other hand, did not like it. This interview almost didn't make it to air. MG used to be a big fan and, according to her, the questions were made for Madonna to shine (her words).

it's just culture clash. YOu can't take it personal by how the interviewer is speaking. Madonna has a stronhg personality and maybe the chemistry just wasn't right, or maybe Mo had "NO" problem with the interview. she's just probably tired of all these boring interviews about her past. u can tell the interviewer didnt like madonna.. maybe because she had an impression of her prior to the interview, and this blatantly showed during the course of the interview.

looking at the interview more I can see that it's not only lack of professionalism from the reporter for not knowing enough english. she wants to hear a certain answer when she doesn't get it, she tries over and over. Madonna said she was the happiest "Now" & Marilia was "really? now? Madonna: "yes" Marilia "definetly?" MADONNA "YES DEFINETLY" Marilia also tried to make Madonna fit in a box pre-defined and Madonna was like "hell no" obviously Marilia is VERY AMATEUR she can't even take a hint
