  • What brand of uke is she playing?

  • BRILLIANT VERSION!

  • Weird, 5 years ago this was her cover. And then 500 days of summer came out and Zoe Deschanel and this Zoe Woodbury-High sound the same. Amazing. Bravo.

  • this is the music everybody secretly hates but they dont want to be mainstream so they listen to it anyway

  • It's a great rendition and a very artistic setting.

  • the radiohead link on the right looks like the drummer is wanking

  • I wish I was that cool when I was fifteen. She's real, unlike the Rebbeca Blacks who seem to saturate this planet.

  • cant sing

  • I love The Smiths. This is the first song of theirs that got me. There's something really special in this cover. I don't know why, but it's special.

  • I The Smiths. This is the first song of theirs that got me. There's something really special in this cover. I don't know why, but it's special.

  • very good.

  • linda voz, la godita esta muy bonita, pero odio como ese ukulele asesina esa buena canción

  • Very well done.

  • @porridgeeveryday that's what you get for eating porridge every day, idiot.

  • I wish I could sing like this. You're so lucky to have this beautiful voice and the ability to sing. Can't stop listening... Beautiful.

  • Sucks

  • Chords? Please? PLEASE? : )

    It's almost Christmas.

  • That was... nice... in a very unusual and weird way.

  • this is so touching cover. my favourite! thank you really much Zoe!

  • Very nice... and different take on a classic! She captured the dry, hollow, dispassionate melodies of Mr. Morrissey. Thanks, dear!

  • Very nice... and different take on a classic! Thanks, dear!

  • EXCELENTEEEEEEEEEE MUY HERMOSOOOOOOOOOOO

  • it's a rare cover but she makes it sound original

  • i love this!!!!!!!

  • I think this cover's pretty cool. But you don't really put any emotion into it....

  • I must say, the rare cover that stands up to the original.

  • Wonderfully amazing! Keep strumming! :) :) :)

  • Nice voice, imaginative/unusual video.

  • This is a very interesting and nice cover of possibly the best song of all times,

  • Come teach me the Ukelele

  • I would love an instrumental download of this, so I can sing it for the talent show.

  • Great video, thanx!!! Creative and different. A new spin, on a great classic!!! Interesting, well done...............

  • Surreal.

  • There is so much poetry in this that i think i´n gonna cry!

  • Yea, cause Morrisey wrote it.......

  • As much as I love the smiths and this song, the lyrics couldn't be more depressing!

Don't get me wrong, this is my favourite song. But this is hardly an uplifting song.

  • @henreque yes it is what song are you listening to!!! it is very beautiful and deep i believe !

  • Hey Zoë, du singst und spielst toll. Schade, dass du schon wieder gehst, wir werden dich vermissen.

    Deine Jojo :)

  • who is this girl shes great and good looking.......

  • 1:44 really scared me. Other than that, good rendition.

  • love it. great cinematography!!!

  • Absolutely BRILLIANT! I LOVE everything about this version

  • Does anyone know the chords used to play this? I really want to have a go myself!

  • Verse

    Am G Am G F C G

    Chorus C Am F G C F

These are the chords played for guitar but they will sound fine on any instrument. You just have to know how to play the chords on that particular instrument ;)

  • Brilliant, cheers!

  • great ;)

  • Beautiful!

  • exactly how i felt

  • Why would you want to like it if you don't?

  • cute version of a classic song and great cinematography!

  • omg stfu. really stfu.

  • great

  • But then it wouldn't be as unique or beautiful if you have a bunch of ignorant, mindless drones watching it, especially if because they're required by law. Most people I can imagine would just ruin it :)

  • lovely.

  • Is she Irish?

  • No, American.

  • am I crazy, or is a girl who plays ukelele or mandolin kind of a turn on?

  • Sigmund Freud would,no doubt be able to tell you why this is. But in simple terms the clip is like a very nice dream - treasure it. Believe me you are not crazy but the feeling comes to you less often the older and more cynical you become so enjoy it while it lasts.

  • kind of weird

  • her voice is amazing

  • Quite simply beautiful, thank you. People say there's too much rubbish on Youtube - I say that clips like this make it all worthwhile - sometimes you gotta dig deep to hit paydirt and this is a priceless diamond.

  • I agree completely. I also think that the majority of people who only watch rubbish on youtube don't deserve to watch/hear something this beautiful.

  • I disagree. I think the majority of people who only watch rubbish on youtube should be required by law to hear something this beautiful . . . might change a mind or two.

  • Nice "photoeye",sweet lovely version.

P.S let s go out tonight

  • Terrible intonation but still a nice version. =)

  • lovely, warm and heart felt ^^

  • Beautiful work. Sounds like it belongs in a Wes Anderson Film.

  • gostei da interpretação, bem lindinha ficou a música, legal!

  • OUTSTANDING!

  • come on it was never gonna be better than the smiths but can't people appreciate it for being a good effort? have people not got anything better to do than criticise her? it's not like morrisey or marr are gonna appreciate the loyalty

  • I wanna have her cute dress

  • (tune 'sing hosannah' )1-2-3 -''Irk the purist, irk the purist, irk the purist - come one and all y'know it feels so right, irk a purist, irk a purist, irk a purist tonight!'' (apologies to Half Man, Half Biscuit) Smiths purists thrive on being upset and would lynch themselves before anyone else. There is no call here for direct comparison. Zoe isn't trying to be Morrisey or Marr it's her own angle. This Charming Man thinks it's original & refreshing - you don't? Heaven knows I'm miserable now!

  • sweet.....

  • gorgeous

  • that was awesome! i adore your voice. beautiful.

  • cool!

  • This is the sweetest cover :D

her voice is beautful anymore songs by her

    has she got myspace

  • @Amazingred12 check out She and Him. she has put out a record with this other guy. you'll like it if you like her voice.

  • @Amazingred12 oh crap! nevermind. sorry I was thinking of the wrong girl..but She and Him is still good but it's not this Zoe

  • wat

  • Fantastic, thank you.

  • that was beautiful

  • Nice voice, simply mesmerizing.

  • take me anywhere

I dont care I dont care I dont care

...but then a strange fear gripped me and I just couldnt ask.

  • For everyone bashing this girl, you might want to keep in mind this recording and video are from when she was 15 years old. Give her some credit at that age for having very very good taste and musical ability.

I think it's an adorable and affectionate cover, especially from someone so young.

  • @Ojaollo How can someone, so young, sing words so sad?

  • I'm so glad you feel better now that you've shared your absolutely meaningless opinion with all of us. Go back to your pitiful life, rlogus.

  • @acelovely well spoken, sir

  • This is the sweetest cover :D

her voice is beautful anymore songs by her

    has she got myspace??

  • Das is mal coole Kunstschändung!^^

  • Legit? What the fuck are you talking about? This girl takes nothing away from the song...She even brings that Young and Alive feeling to it the way Morrissey did.

  • an interesting interpretation. i'm a fan.

  • to die by Ur side

such a heavenly way to die

  • I disagree with all the cunts going on about this cover. I would go along with you on the mark ronson cover but on this one, the girl is fucking on it. She plays it on a ukulele outside about grave yards, building tops and run down places...It is different and the video only adds to the new take on The original Smiths song which is always going to be the best but this was a lovely cover.

  • I totally agree. Great cover!!

  • very very goooddd... I love this song... she has an interesting performance. I like it. But the best is Erlend Oye's version... Thanks Morrisey for this beautiful song

  • A very original interpretation, juxtaposed with a cool video. I think Morrissey would be proud of the Sandie Shaw-esque vocal, and its not as if Johnny Marr hasn't used an instrument like a ukulele, just listen to the mandolin on 'William it was really nothing'.

  • I don't know if I like it or hate it...

  • You like it...now don't be a cunt and just listen to it again : )

  • To hear your version of this song, well the pleasure the priviledge has been mine.

    Thank you!

  • I prefer the original version, but this is a nice one.

  • i agree

  • beautiful version! love it....

  • why is it when yanks cover the smiths it always sounds like a fucking car advertisement?

i do wish they would try their hand at oasis instead, but it seems that even yanks can see through those wankers..

  • what do you mean no emotion? it just doesn't sound like morrissey emotion. brilliant

  • love to you

  • It's beautiful song, and this is an interesting version, but it also has no emotion. Thats probably a bit of a flaw for a song that makes me cry when I hear the original.

  • That was really great. I can't beleive how young you are. I really liked it, the only criticism I would give is to say that i would like to hear more intensity and dynamic contrast at the end. Aside from that, it was great, and the video itself was so very cute. =) Great Job!

  • I liked it, too. This is cool.

  • Learn to spell before you bash my sister's video. I spam you.

  • Thanks for a nice ukey-artsy video. I think your voice captures the sadness that the Smiths convey. I enjoyed the uking, singing and production. Great job!

(I am surprised by the harshness of some comments. I really enjoyed the simplicity of this video -- Thanks

  • lovely

  • could someone gime me ome information about ZWH? I can't find anything about them..

  • She is 15 years old (maybe 16 now) and from the state of Maine in the USA. You can download two of her .mp3's - including this one, at zotapine dot com.

  • STFU. Ugly trannies like yourself shouldn't be seen or heard.

  • jesus, you're a hateful person!

  • .....lovely

  • I am not sure how seriously to take this, she has a great voice but i don't real feel much listening to her sing, also its just kinda odd. However, the track is one of my favourites ever, and the cover hasn't angered me........

  • you can get the .mp3's at: zotapine dot com

  • wonderfull .. can I find it anywhere as a windows media player file? would like to post in on my livespace x

  • does zwh have a website or some such?

  • Cruel but well delivered.

  • I was fascinated. Great signing and well shot.

  • the singing is beautiful the film is nice the ukulele is the one i'd like to get

there's something strange in the chords not exactly the same

there is kike one missing bar in the verse

    anyway I like it

and listen to it again and again

  • So are you.

  • sweet

  • this song made me cry! one of my favourite songs and she is AMAZING!!!

  • HI! its ve from school!love the video! see you

  • good god good...!!!

  • beautiful!!!

  • loved the video!

  • very good... very good

  • muito bom

  • OMFG... kill me, please, have mercy...

  • she's a little out of tune :/

  • this sucks

  • can u get an mp3 of that song somewhere? ive listened to it about 50 times, but its a bit of an effort to go on youtube for that everytime.

  • I did a music feature on her on my website earlier this year, there are some mp3s there as well... Youtube won't let me link to it, but it's on zotapine dot com.

  • The harmonisation you've put to it doesn't work at some points. Otherwise, interesting enough.

  • nice cover.

  • nice video... i'm in love with the song...

  • Just goes to show you what a great song this is....it sounds wonderful anyway it is presented! God bless Morrissey and the Smiths!

  • cutie voice

  • what is this??? is this a parody of the original???

  • The song is happy now

  • Beautiful and simple.

  • 3 stars.

i didnt like it 2 much
