Fortunately our Sensei also teaches a more severe form similar to Aikijutsu, not just the dance version. I just pray I never REALLY need it. I an happy to live a life without violent conflict. If I was a cop then I would look for something more deadly than Aikido.

Firstly, Aikijujutsu is a BUGEI, a marcial art created to war. Aikido is a BUDO, a marcial way created to join the humanity. Both Ueshiba Morihei and Takeda Sokaku are different persons. The first was warrior and a spiritual man and the second only was a warrior. Aikido has the aikijujutsu root's, but it was a different propose than Aikijujutsu.
Ive seen a picture of Ueshiba when he was younger and still in the military studying Daito Ryu from the 'devil kondo'. He looks nothing of someone who would later have white hair and a small physique. He was a big mean looking guy!
aikido is a sub speciality of aikijujutsu developed by morihei ueshiba student of takeda founder of aikijujutsu.ueshiba removed all strikes and self defense techiniques reducing it into a sport or yoga style although there are some hard styles of aikido but certainly aikijujtsu has more techinques and weapons and is more self defense orientated

Daito-ryu is more worth learning though why would anyone want to learn a copy and watered down version of an old art form which is much deadlier.

Have you tried Daito-Ryu AikiJUjutsu? If you have you will see the difference. The lineage of Takeda Ryu Aikijutsu is suspect.
