@angeldoxie1 The people that I have talked to about it not hurting the calf say that they have a very thick layer of skin around their neck that keeps them from being injuried and hurt there. I don't know. That's what my uncle said and he hasn't lied to me before, so I trust him :/ I always get at him though when I see him doing it xD Of course I would be joking with him.

@kelseyosburn it doesnt hurt the calves....ive been tie down roping my whole life and never had a calf die or seriously injured....now if a calf does have an injury (rarely) we fix him up and never rope him again. Besides this is one of the oldest breeds of sport in America thats still running and people enjoy watching
