  • @d240786 well then you don't know 300zx twin turbos. Nissan probably calls them recirculation valves, because they divert the pressured air back into the piping before the turbo.

  • @Blessedtouch They aren't BOV's though they are called recircilation valves not Blow off valve's they are in place just to ease pressure not release it, you can remove them fit bov's or you can leave them where they are supposed to be and install bov's for thier own purpose, having both is more efficient, removing them will put extra strain on the turbo system.They didn't put them there for show and they didn't call them Blow Off Valves!

    Recircilation valves simply stabalise vacuum pressure, not release it to avoid stalling, they shouldn't be removed and replaced with BOV's they SHOULD be used in conjuction WITH your BOV's and they should'nt be too close together either.

    I know what I'm talking about so don't tell me how many friends of your's have done it or how many 300's you have sent to the scrapper!!!

  • @d240786 this is the internet if you can't handle responses don't read 'em. For example...I never even heard of anyone running blow off valves and the stock recirculation valves. Once you run more boost than the stock recircs can hold, they leak/fail. and having another set of pressure relief won't do shit.

    "They didn't put them there for show " neither this car, or in stock form can you see them with out removing panels. obviously not for show.

  • me dad used to have one but it was an american version with no turbo but with 350 horsepower but he sold it. he now have's one 2002 Porsche 911 Carerra(996) but the 300zx was nicer...

  • 300ZX twin turbos were as fast as the early 1990's 5.0 Mustangs so stock they arent as fast as you think a twin turbo car would be. Dont get me wrong, aftermarket turbos and some engine work made these beast but stock they were shit. Were talkin 9's in the 1/8 mile if that says anything.

  • nice sounding engine, seems like the vg30dett and the 300zx itself has been forgotten about the tuner crowd, few minor bolt ons and them things can produce 350-400 rwhp, vg was a turbo lover. vq engines are good but don't like boost like these old iron blocked vg engines.

  • @NissanTy the new HR series vq's love boost especial the 07-09 350z's the intake plenum was designed similar to the gtr as a test and these cars in na form with you basic bolt ons can make 320 at the wheels just with intake test pipes and exhaust and tune throw on some headers cams and thats almost 350whp

  • @NissanTy I agree the vq is for n/a, which they do fine.....the vg is made for turbo, and I think its a shame these Z32s are relatively forgotten about & ignored

  • you can have a 300zx tt (twin turbo) bone stock. stock just means no after market parts are on the car. same case with a 300zx n/a (naturally aspired). in this car, it has plenty of after market parts, which means it is not stock

  • That sound is also produced due to compressor surge, not just by blow-off vavles. Blow-off vavles are designed to eliminate this. If you knew anything about the function of a bov you would know it is a possibility this car is stock, it does in fact look like it is besides some aftermarket piping. And that sound, mmmmmmmmm....

  • transmission type has nothing to do with bov's, ANY TURBO'D CAR should have a bov, the bov doesnt fuction when you shift, it functions when you let off the throttle and in an auto car, where is all that boost in you intake going to go when you let off the throttle? hmmm...seems to me one would need a bov to release that air...

  • the 300zx has a thing called a recirculating valve which re-routes the air back between the maf and turbo....

  • the majority of turbo'd vehicles have bov's recuirculated, you have to unless you have speed density or some kind of blow thru setup, without it recuirc'd your car will run rich because the cpu has already accounted for the boosted air and added proper amount of fuel so the air needs to get plumbed back into the intake after the Maf if not your cpu has now added fuel to air that has been blown out, punk kids r good at not recuircing cuz they think "it sounds cool with venting to atmosphere" lol

  • I love the 300ZX. It's hard to really hear the pure awesome sound of the twin turbos due to the mic distortion. I have heard these driving down the street and hearing the twin turbos kick in is AMAZING. Awesome cars.

    FFS i see to many videos of p fairlady z/300zx getting bashed casue its a v6 and they should get a rb swapped ect ect. shure theres some lagg there but whats the fun of having high boost turboes with no lagg or great spool up sound. this engine is amazing for what it is and in my own opinion is better than any supra or skyline. the only better inline than this v6 is the audi's Sport Quattro inline 5. Still it probably has more lagg on the turbo!

  • needspeed, the reason the ZX needs the RB26 powertrain swap is because the VG30DETT produces too much torque. the ZX is prone to just spinning when you try to take off the line.

    i agree, the 300 is a wicked car. i love it, it's one of my favourites and i prefer it over the skyline. a million times sexier. unfortunately, it just sits and spins too much.

  • My buddies got a 300zx and he wishes it had an inline. I own a Skyline and cant get over the crazy fast torque thoes engines produce when you punch it. I love my skyline more then anything and love it's engine and i think it would be a shame afer feeling 300zx power to lag it down with huge turbos. Ball twin Garrett Gt 2535 tubos would be insane on that car.

  • im a factory nissan mechanic from when these things came out, and i know they are fast, but they are the biggest pieces of shit. they are a bitch to work on and expensive to repair, no one takes care of them and they fall apart. unless you are stupid rich or have lots of free time and dont get frustrated easily, they are not the car for you
