I am continually amazed at how wonderful a band Wilco is. And it's not like they have a few good songs or a few good albums -- they are consistently fantastic.
This is the softest, hardest, most beautiful, most ugly, and most dynamic song I've ever heard. Wilco is an amazing band...the best one touring today as far as I can tell. This cracked the top 5 most influential songs to me on my music blog
after seeing this band play , this wasnt there best. Still, it was great for being in the beginning ...with the new set up . dudes tone is amazing , you can tell glen likes his shit but needs more time ......so all in all , this should of been done a bit later in the mix , still cool
BLAND?! HA! you are a fucking moron if you think this is bland. thats just wrong. what are you doing watching wilco videos anyways you worthless fuck, shouldnt you be watching Kanye West or something.
@McNutz88 Give the guy a break. I get it. Wilco's one of my favorite bands; I interviewed them a few years ago. When I first heard them, though, I thought they were bland too. My dad played them for me and I said they were boring. They're one of my favorites now. Just give them time.
Wilco amazes me over and over and over. I keep expecting them to let me down. Like "ok this is the album where they are going to loose it and i will have to start not liking them" But nope. They bastards just keep being awesome haha. Love this song.
@robotdrawer Whats Nels Cline does with the song is vastly different from the album version, its undeniably his style, its easy to hear if your familiar with clines previous works. Jeff Tweedy is an amazing, wonderful musician, but Nels cline is a guitar god on par with Hendrix.
this is the best version by FAR! amazing guitar solo at the end. the Kicking Television one is great but it just dosent have the same perfect notes that this one has. have to keep listening to this over and over
great band. they should get more recognition then they do. bad music out there like the jonas brothers and miley citrus or whatever her name is. im 14 and i appreciate real music like this
so weird that you would write this...as a sophomore in college at Indiana a few years back I discovered this album and I specifically remember being in a very bad place and this song exploding in my head like full-blown technicolor.
i wouldn't go as far as saying that this is my favorite song of all time, but it's damn close.
however, i've seen them in concert twice and they haven't played this track...dang.
Yeah, I saw them the end of my freshman year at penn state supporting the yankee hotel album and they played this song before a ghost was born came out. Great memories.
im from indiana as well. in mexico city now so i probably wont see them here. but when this came out it pulled me through some really tough times, just like elliott. and actually my best friend died that summer in a tragic accident, we were supposed to go see ween. i wrote them and they played his favorite song for him. good guys.all bands, elliott, wilco, ween.
Amazing seeing them in a living room!! Really makes their music more instant. Immediate. They've been on such big stages since this line-up took shape, I'd love to see more of them like this. Makes them feel like a 90's band with a home made video. Even makes the song bigger. One of Nils' best solos. Can't wait to see them in June.
Goes well with "Company in my BacK" "Hummingbird" & "One by One" for sure. Tweedy is John Lennon reincarnated. Best band out there in my humble opinion.
in a certain way you are right... unbelievable, yesterday I was coming back home with a friend of mine, Beatles' fan too, and we had the same impression while listening to this song ("hummingbird" reminds me much more of Paul, in particular the violin part) THANKS WILCO!!
One of the great contemporary American rock bands. Jeff Tweedy is on the same plain as Paul Westerberg , in my eyes. Amazing songwriters that don't get the fan fair or credit they deserve.
If you're even a casual listener of Wilco, a live Wilco show will change your life. It's something you have to experience if you've even heard one Wilco song you like. It's an addiction.
this song is amazing, and with the addition of nels cline and pat sansone, this live version blows the recorded one away...btw i'm having trouble transcribing nel's run at 4:24, if someone can give it to me or the scale or something i'd be grateful :)
that's some mighty fine tremolo picking.
