Screamo is a retardation-based vernacular used by inexperienced ignorant pre-teens first hearing soulja boy (calvary kids version) and not knowing what to call it. Personally, i wouldve called it shit and never listened to it again, but knowing stupid middleschool wannabe emo kids thinking its cool because better-dressed kids who normally wouldnt have time to be into music had heard it ( a generally less-popular genre) as well.

@redfoxskater Turns out, you are completely wrong. There DEFINITELY is a genre of music called screamo and it certainly has nothing to do with Soulja Boy, Hot Topic, or anything of that nature. Saetia, Sed Non Satiata, Funeral Diner, Envy, The Black Heart Rebellion, The Saddest Landscape, Pg.99, Daïtro, Mesa Verde, I Create. All perfectly good examples of screamo and the variation that exists in the genre. very post-rock, hardcore, and emo influenced in a lot of ways.

An easy lesson to people is that just because the vocals are screamed does not make it "screamo". I like to think of it as "screaming emotion". That's just me.
