Sell a $10 item on ebay, they take out $2 in fees, $1 in paypal fees, then to ship it will cost at least $1 to $2. That leaves you between $5 to $4 in profit, but then you gotta pay taxes. So if you sell a $10 item, the most you can make is about $1 to $2 in profit. This is assuming you created the product from thin air and it didn't cost you any money to create.

If you look up Ebay's 2008 SEC filings they flat-out ADMIT that there is inner corruption within paypal. Ebay is a fraud, and it's a real disappointment bc it was such a great concept early on. And now this whole 5 free listings per month thing is an even bigger fraud because they don't tell you they also charge more fv fees after the items sell. CROOKS!!!
I sell cheap stuff on Ebay... around $10 each, I lose almost $2 of that up front with Ebay fees, then another $1 or so from Paypal fees! For every $10 I "make" on ebay, I lose about $3 to the fees. I do free shipping now, but I can only do that because I've recently had to raise my item costs to $15 then offer free shipping to attract buyers. That $15 JUST about covers the fees and shipping and still lets me get my $10.

They will be taking 25% on a guy selling a car for $500, yet only 1.25% on a guy selling a $10,000 car. eBay Motors has to be losing revenues on their fees. That would be like the gov't lowering taxes jurastically on the top 5% of America and massively raising taxes on the lower 25%. Not only would the Gov't lose tax revenues but they would also be discouraging economic growth!

Then I have to sell item at regular price, because I sell Mario kart games, which shipping for them is around $10, but eBay won't allow more then $4. Then final value fee is up 66%. How the hell am I supposed to get to powerseller status if I only can sell items at regular price???

EBAY SUCKS. There is no protection for sellers. I recently have had buyers threaten negative feedback and low DSR unless I give them discount on their purchase of book with free shipping. Reported to ebay. Nothing done. I have over 7000 transactions on ebay. Stopped selling and buying. The DSR star system is one of the worst things ebay has done. 4 is stated to be good but if everyone left 4 seller would soon find themselfs kicked off.

I didn't find out about the 21day paypal hold until this morning, when I was expecting to recieve payment for an item sold only to find out that the money that I desperately need is being held by paypal for 21days. There is a great deal of irrational whining about eBay. I've sold in eBay for 9 years now and still do...frankly, I like the changes...none of the other sites I've tried assist in my selling my items as successfully as eBay. Of course, they've raised seller fees (what company hasn't raised prices?) but the fees are applied more sensibly (i.e. you list for MUCH less and pay a LITTLE more if it sells).
ebay is nothing but a ponzi scam now. they lost 25 million last quarter because romanians, croatians, russians, chinese, basically everyone overseas is ripping off ebay, paypal, buyers, and sellers through ebay germany. deerfield liveclient is stupid as hell.....ebay is dead.....watch the end though if you can, it is gonna be fun to watch this armageddon....
Dont bother selling on ebay because nobodies buying. If you sell something like collectables, do a specitic google search with 'auction' and 'whatever it is' that you sell in it, chances are there's at least two specific online auctions for your product. Ebay is pathetic and their site is cliched to the core.

sorry Diary81 but: NO SALE... I charge $4.95 shipping/handling (almost 3 times the postal rate) on DVDs and have over 4.5 DSR for my shipping charges. It's just a situation where eBay doesn't want too much $ put into the shipping column because they don't charge you for that on the Final Value fee. Personally as a customer I really don't care how much the seller puts in the shipping charge because I factor it in when I bid and I always leave 5 stars for shipping charge..

Check out base(dot)google(dot)com it's ebay's worst nightmare, it's free, and it's in beta testing now. Best thing is that your items show up in google search results. They aren't exclusive of paypal or ebay like ebay is exclusive of everything.

The limit on seller feedback is good. There is no reason why I as a buyer should ever get bad or neutral feedback if I pay for my item with Paypal right away. Right now the power is on the side of the seller to hurt the buyer even if ther buyer does nothing wrong. They can also hold the buyer hostage to demand good feedback before ever giving feedback.

Sell a $10 item on ebay, they take out $2 in fees, $1 in paypal fees, then to ship it will cost at least $1 to $2. That leaves you between $5 to $4 in profit, but then you gotta pay taxes. So if you sell a $10 item, the most you can make is about $1 to $2 in profit. This is assuming you created the product from thin air and it didn't cost you any money to create.

If you look up Ebay's 2008 SEC filings they flat-out ADMIT that there is inner corruption within paypal. Ebay is a fraud, and it's a real disappointment bc it was such a great concept early on. And now this whole 5 free listings per month thing is an even bigger fraud because they don't tell you they also charge more fv fees after the items sell. CROOKS!!!

I sell cheap stuff on Ebay... around $10 each, I lose almost $2 of that up front with Ebay fees, then another $1 or so from Paypal fees! For every $10 I "make" on ebay, I lose about $3 to the fees. I do free shipping now, but I can only do that because I've recently had to raise my item costs to $15 then offer free shipping to attract buyers. That $15 JUST about covers the fees and shipping and still lets me get my $10.

They will be taking 25% on a guy selling a car for $500, yet only 1.25% on a guy selling a $10,000 car. eBay Motors has to be losing revenues on their fees. That would be like the gov't lowering taxes jurastically on the top 5% of America and massively raising taxes on the lower 25%. Not only would the Gov't lose tax revenues but they would also be discouraging economic growth!

It has been so may illegal activities too and because they pay their ways to e-Bay, e-Bay closes its eyes on those international criminals. they charge money for every thing now. No insertion fees???? Shit, subtitle went up from .50 cents to $1.50. Gallery listing went up from .10 cents to .30 cents. I don't know what the hell is he talking about free pictures, because they are still not free. Then I have to sell item at regular price, because I sell Mario kart games, which shipping for them is around $10, but eBay won't allow more then $4. Then final value fee is up 66%. How the hell am I supposed to get to powerseller status if I only can sell items at regular price???

1) go to google search: paypal ebay sucks, or other key words like paintings, nintendo game cube etc.
2) google will give you thousands of results.Don't click on any.
3) instead on the right hand page you will see"sponsored links", this means the websites listed here have to pay google money.
4) click on ebay or paypal sponsored links.
5) if millions of unhappy clicks everyday, calculate the amount ebay paypal have to pay every month.

EBAY SUCKS. There is no protection for sellers. I recently have had buyers threaten negative feedback and low DSR unless I give them discount on their purchase of book with free shipping. Reported to ebay. Nothing done. I have over 7000 transactions on ebay. Stopped selling and buying. The DSR star system is one of the worst things ebay has done. 4 is stated to be good but if everyone left 4 seller would soon find themselfs kicked off.

I didn't find out about the 21day paypal hold until this morning, when I was expecting to recieve payment for an item sold only to find out that the money that I desperately need is being held by paypal for 21days. I am so outraged at Ebay and paypal. I did notice that they have already collected their 3 dollar fee out of the payment though. I'm done with it all. Many EX-EBAYERS and some that are still selling on EBAY, are now ALSo selling on bonanzle, etsy, atomic mall, blujay and thers where there are little or no fees and PAYPAL NOT REQUIRED. Also, besides selling on these other sites as well as ebay(if you still WANT TO), you can transfer your feebacks to from ebay if you wish, and ebay can't remove you for doing so. There is a great deal of irrational whining about eBay. I've sold in eBay for 9 years now and still do...frankly, I like the changes...none of the other sites I've tried assist in my selling my items as successfully as eBay. Of course, they've raised seller fees (what company hasn't raised prices?) but the fees are applied more sensibly (i.e. you list for MUCH less and pay a LITTLE more if it sells).

If you sell something like collectables, do a specitic google search with 'auction' and 'whatever it is' that you sell in it, chances are there's at least two specific online auctions for your product. Ebay is pathetic and their site is cliched to the core.

It's seems very few carry the load for the ebay dissenters. Where did they all go? Ebay is offending more and more sellers, and even buyers with all the disputes and crazy rules. The S&B won't get help from ebay chat, they'll get suspended. There was a growing group here on Youtube, but they're not here now! Did they give up? Very few doin' a poor job of it. I'd hate to loose Ebay .I guess with all the Fraud , they are trying to clean up .But seems like current policy will only lead to more fraud for Sellers . I've brought so many items ,some very expensive and never a problem in 9 years .But i check sellers feedback carefully and also if they respond to my questions .Hope it all works out .I would not mind there 21 day hold if i was protected as a seller.But bad buyers are causing chargebacks and sending back empty boxes ,sellers will loose.

And are forcing sellers under 100 feedback ,no matter how positive, to offer Paypal .Paypal puts 21 day hold on funds.The Ebay Trust and Safety team is hard at work securing ,illegal loans on stolen property of the seller .Paypal phone reps state you must ship item out unpaid for .My only option was to just refund the buyer , on auction $1,300.00 Ebay/Paypal fees $100.00.Just leave ebay.

I would have liked to see a slight increase in fees and a lower price on Galley - ebay stores final value fees are almost 13% - It's not even worth it to carry some items - It's dishonest to raise the cost of an item - I believe in fair competitive S&H and low prices - ebay can charge more Final value fees is we raise the cost of the item - If your DSR is 4.5 you will not receive any FVF Discounts - Customers are not experts on S&H - Most sellers charge honest S&H Prices

It's all Smoke & Mirrors - If ebay want's us to lower out S&H they should lower their fees - you don't buy something online from a big company and then complain about the S&H Cost - especially with the price of gas & supplies needed to run a business - Like I said NOTHING IS FREE!!!!! I never used Gallery before because it was too expensive - Does eBay care? Is eBay on a downward Spiral? If this keeps up people will go back to buying their items in a store - Buying online can be a Hassle

Putting us out of business will decrease listings - most of us will fall short for the seller discount - the customer is not an expert on S&H Costs - they agree to the S&H when they buy the item - why does the seller have to rate the S&H? The only way to reach that goal is to give your items away with Free S&H - Nothing is Free - Buyers are sellers & sellers are buyers - S&H is a part of buying online - It's a fact - ebay is not taking care of their buyers

sorry Diary81 but: NO SALE... I charge $4.95 shipping/handling (almost 3 times the postal rate) on DVDs and have over 4.5 DSR for my shipping charges. It's just a situation where eBay doesn't want too much $ put into the shipping column because they don't charge you for that on the Final Value fee. Personally as a customer I really don't care how much the seller puts in the shipping charge because I factor it in when I bid and I always leave 5 stars for shipping charge..

eBay should see the way they are upsetting people; yet if their plan is to make the market more competitive, then they are succeeding! The people that leave eBay are driving up the competition for those that stay. The buyers will end up paying higher prices. Their master plan might very well be working to raise the values of items. As our economy goes, this may be beneficial in the end?! Who knows what their main objective REALLY is?!!

Check out base(dot)google(dot)com it's ebay's worst nightmare, it's free, and it's in beta testing now. Best thing is that your items show up in google search results. They aren't exclusive of paypal or ebay like ebay is exclusive of everything.

I love the 50% remark on sellers will get these discounts! LOL...yeah you jack up final value fees, from 5.25 to 8.75,(so you get the profits for more listings) then reward top 7%w/pennies on the FVF dollar, but oh,I see you thought I forgot that 50% of sellers will be paying the full price hike, great so your are not really giving the top sellers a deal We the the 50% less group are paying those sellers, Wow we now have balance...Lmao..*cough* aszhole'

But you don't understand that it goes both ways. And a buyer is far more likely to try to scam a seller than a seller is to a buyer.

The limit on seller feedback is good. There is no reason why I as a buyer should ever get bad or neutral feedback if I pay for my item with Paypal right away. Right now the power is on the side of the seller to hurt the buyer even if ther buyer does nothing wrong. They can also hold the buyer hostage to demand good feedback before ever giving feedback.

This John CEO is so full of BS
for example, sold a item for $100:
old system (5.25% on 25 + 3.25% on 75) = $3.7475
you pay $3.75 to ebay (another $3 for paypal)
new system (8.75% on $25 & 3.5% on $75)
it will be $4.8125 compare to 3.7475 (a 28% increase)
let said u got 5% of the FVF back, that's $4.8125 - $.24 = $4.57
for 15% (likely impossible to reach 4.8 DSR), $4.8125 - $.72 = $4.01 I'm a college student & after calculation, I can't get how you can save???
