I own cookbooks by Mark Bittman, Le Cordon Bleu, Heston Blumenthal, William Sonoma, Dean and Deluca, Emeril, etc. and her recipes beat the crud out of the others. Her recipes create more addiction with the people I serve them to then any other persons recipes that I have ever made. when you want to knock it out of the park you make an Ina recipe and I am not exaggerating the slightest.

Sandra didn't exactly invent the idea of "tablescapes," so I wouldn't necessarily call this a direct dis toward her. That being said, Sandra's craft store abominations would be a nightmare to recreate, not least because once your guests have been seated they won't be able to see each other over the heap of mason jars, votive candles, and styrofoam topiaries that you've dumped on the table. Sandra's show is complete comedy to me, from her laughable, inedible food to her drape-matching outfits.
Sandra Lee is kind of a ditz, but Ina Garten seems like a pretentious snob to me. I would much rather hang with Sandy, at least she knows how to have a good time!
Sandra Lee does suck, but i've seen Ina do a horrible tablescape on her show once. It was the episode where Ina cooks lunch for some windmill workers. Ina had as her centerpiece a bucket of cheap worker's tools. It's like she invites those guys into her house for a meal, but she has to remind them that they are just the help and nothing more.
At the end of every episode of Sandra Lee's show she does an elaborate table decoration which she calls a "tablescape". Unless Sandra Lee isn't the only one using that made up word, that's definitely who Ina Garten is referencing.
It wouldn't bother me if Sandra made quick-and-easy meals; there's a place for that. But she uses processed, store-made ingredients that are really expensive! Canned frosting and pre-made cake cost lots more than cooking from scratch; you might as well just save yourself some time and trouble and buy something good from the bakery or the deli.
the problem with sandra lee is not the idea of making meals that are semi homemade (though that would get boring fast), it's the fact that she takes decent ingredients and turns them into shit. i've never looked at any of her "creations" and thought "yummy!".

I actually like some, not all, of Sandra Lee's recipes (the few healthy ones) but I got so SICK of the over the top decor, matching outfits, etc. I mean save the time, do something simple, elegant and seasonal!!! Ina probably is jealous she can't be fantastic at anything other than cooking. Sandra Lee's "Semi-Homemade" is not to my liking at all. Anyone who knows when end of the SPOON to hold can outdo her so-called recipes...and as for those Snow-White-on-LSD "tablescapes"...forget about it. Sandra didn't exactly invent the idea of "tablescapes," so I wouldn't necessarily call this a direct dis toward her. That being said, Sandra's craft store abominations would be a nightmare to recreate, not least because once your guests have been seated they won't be able to see each other over the heap of mason jars, votive candles, and styrofoam topiaries that you've dumped on the table. Sandra's show is complete comedy to me, from her laughable, inedible food to her drape-matching outfits.

Sandra Lee does suck, but i've seen Ina do a horrible tablescape on her show once. It was the episode where Ina cooks lunch for some windmill workers. Ina had as her centerpiece a bucket of cheap worker's tools. It's like she invites those guys into her house for a meal, but she has to remind them that they are just the help and nothing more.

I actually like some, not all, of Sandra Lee's recipes (the few healthy ones) but I got so SICK of the over the top decor, matching outfits, etc. I mean save the time, do something simple, elegant and seasonal!!! I LOVE all of Ina's recipes, healthy (mostly), tasty and elegant. She can cook and then some!!! Love ya Ina :)

her house is on the road on my way to skool. Its huge. she has 2 houses right next to eachother. My dad who did work on her house said that one was "Fore the show" and one was for "living"

Ina probably is jealous she can't be fantastic at anything other than cooking. I'm betting Sandra does tablescapes to give less inspired people ideas on good parties so even if they can't cook, it can look nice. Before watching Semi-Homeade, my best shot at parties was matching paper plates and napkins, now guests can at least look at something other than the white walls of my apartment!

Barefoot contessa should get a mani and pedi for her crusty feet. I can stand that stuck up slob. Plus why is her hubby always trying to run from her. and obviously eating healthy doesn't do a damn thing for her growing figure. Ok since you are SLOW, Hubby is short for husband. Everybody knows that. And I'll call her a STUCK UP SLOB with crusty feet and hands if I want because that is MY opinion. Like i said before, I love Paula Deen better than all them hoes because at least she keeps it REAL.
