As you know, most of the Castlevania games were platform-jumping games.The most famous Castlevania games were all 2-D and the 3-D ones not successful. As the 2-D Castlevania games are old, their gameplay was limited. However, this new Castlevania game looks really like God of War... Although games like Castlevania inspired God of War at first, but now, the new Castlevania seems to be using God of war gameplay style.

I liked the trailer, but the fact they're goin for lots of giant enemies worries me...where are the legions of undead zombie soldiers, half monsters, possessed material objects? Hell even the bushes in the oldschool castlevania could kill you, that's one of the reasons I loved it was the wide array of enemies you had to whack.

QTEs were the worst part about bayonetta and it almost makes games like GoW unplayable for me. I just want gameplay, I can kill the boss myself thank you very much.

i dont know what company god of war is made by (developers not counting publishers) or devil may cry. there are so many developers and only so many Activisions or E.A. companies to throw money at a project to fund it in hopes it will make the investment worth it. good games now adays have the same or close to B rated but some production movies. can't name a number but it's millions (not billions).

What I don't understand about people saying that Castlevania bit off of God of War and vice versa, is that nobody's getting the chronology/release dates of the games right. I mean, Onimusha started this in 2000-2001, followed by Devil May Cry in 2001, then came Castlevania: Lament of Innocence in 2003, Ninja Gaiden 2003-2004 (which refined - but still rips off - DMC's formula), and God of War - which actually came LAST in 2005. Only Dante's Inferno was a blatantly -but fun- copy of God of War.

Castlevania is def one of my fave series ever. As a huge fan, this will be on my shelf. Alot of people are scared of the 3-D, but I don't mind a God of War clone. God of War has a fun game style why let one game monopolize on a genre? And with Kojima involved i've got no reason to hesitate.

i dont know what company god of war is made by (developers not counting publishers) or devil may cry. there are so many developers and only so many Activisions or E.A. companies to throw money at a project to fund it in hopes it will make the investment worth it. good games now adays have the same or close to B rated but some production movies. can't name a number but it's millions (not billions).

It only needs one more thing to be perfect it seems. That one thing is that I pray that sometime during the game they play Bloody Tears. I don't care if it's some crazy rock remix or anything like that, but it needs Bloody Tears and then that'll make this a true and warm hearted Castlevania game

Believe it or not. The first Castlevania is a classic. But to compare it too God of War, Devil May Cry and now Dantes Inferno is unfair. Castlevania is the first horror game that made the genre popular. Discover kids and enjoy. (I ruled the Classic Castlevania! 8 years old and beating the grim reaper with the boomerang cross! You know it!)

What I don't understand about people saying that Castlevania bit off of God of War and vice versa, is that nobody's getting the chronology/release dates of the games right. I mean, Onimusha started this in 2000-2001, followed by Devil May Cry in 2001, then came Castlevania: Lament of Innocence in 2003, Ninja Gaiden 2003-2004 (which refined - but still rips off - DMC's formula), and God of War - which actually came LAST in 2005. Only Dante's Inferno was a blatantly -but fun- copy of God of War.

Hack-n-slash games have been around at least since Gauntlet, and probably longer. God of War certainly wasn't the first in the genre.

@alanvamp also note that the "Ranged weapon (whip/chained jackhammer/chained cross) was actualy original to castle vania. though through out the series the whip was more common. not the jack hammer (but ingame with ritcher belmont in symphony of the night. it was suppose to be a whip. but ingame it looks like a chained jack hammer :P)

Castlevania is def one of my fave series ever. As a huge fan, this will be on my shelf. Alot of people are scared of the 3-D, but I don't mind a God of War clone. God of War has a fun game style why let one game monopolize on a genre? And with Kojima involved i've got no reason to hesitate.

But the first 3D Castlevania games were garbage, so 64 and Legacy of Darkness don't count. Now Goemon 64, there's a Castlevania game. The pipe is just like the whip and the Engrish theme song is just like the dialog in 64 but not as catchy. I must be "GOING NOW!!!"
