  • Ah yes, Jimmy and the boys at the Manzal while on mandies...they were the days...

  • You won't get any better music in Australia again than what was around in the 80s. Sylvania and Caringbah pubs. It can't be repeated.

  • I was a roadie with one of their support bands.. always remember Joylene's gasmask! Amazing times.

Ignatius.. I was at the 2000 Olympics closing ceremony.. thank you for staging the campest and most fabulous ceremony the world has ever seen!

  • nzoz thank you

  • Classic. Forgot this existed. Hysterical!

  • best Jimmy & The Boys memory?? easy Bombay Rock gig Brunswick..Ignatius was hilarious..i remember he had this unusual shaped rubber plunger somehow attached to his stomach and he was doing something with it with his lips hehe seeing Joylene on keys was enough for the admission price..great band lots of fun..thanks for the post nz as per your usual high standards..

  • yeah is ok now but at the time it was dog poop

  • Classic, love it!!

  • THE best! Memories of a band not afraid to strut their stuff, I remember one of the BEST concerts at Castle Hill Showground.

  • I saw Jimmy and the Boys at Bondi Lifesavers back in the early 80's - what a great and outrageous show! Ah, memories. Thanks nzoz.

  • Patient discharged thu window- now that's a budget hospital!

  • @AlburyAustralia

    It's your average Aussie Hospital

  • @MrSuperiority I don't want to see a 20 something give another high five in intensive care again.

(or in this case extended coffee break & laughs watching internet funnies during E.C.T)

  • Go Jimmy,ur a bast man!!...who would of thought your a classically trained ballet dancer,he really is! lol....great band live. TY 4 posting

  • awesome

  • Thanks nzoz you are a legend, this is fantastic.

  • @novalee66 thank you :D

  • We need a kool-aid IV-STAT! ^_^

  • Oh, and I sincerely wish Tim wrote this way now, it's sorely missed!!

  • I love Tim Finn, and am happy he was doing some writing for this lad here, but did we need to see the extended crotch shots of this singer in this video? LOL I mean really man!

And I think they won't let his girlfriend talk to him, because he stole her makeup and applied it so hastily. :D

  • @creatornat ha ha ha ha ha; there's a million and one things I could say about Ignatious Jones (the singer here). He also had a minor international hit with 'Like A Ghost' the following year. These days he is a well-respected art-director in Sydney - most popular for his work at the New Year's Eve Sydney Habour Fireworks (can be found all over youtube). Instead of being institutionalised, he's become an institution...

  • @nzoz1981 ..Thanks for the quick reply noz1981. :)

Thanks for the info, these lads are actually new to me in the states. Been enjoying digging into youtube for all the tunes I may have missed. Thanks for the added info on Ignatious, really interesting...and I still think Tim looks better in makeup. :)

  • @creatornat oh, of course... but Iggy looked better in leather and gaffer-tape. Today, Iggy looks closer to an ageing Rober Di Nero than frankenfurter. These guys were an interesting band. If you type 'Jimmy & The Boys NZOZ', you'll see all the clips I've uploaded of them. Also, check out Ignatius Jones' 'Like A Ghost' (for something you might recognise). Thanx for commenting!

  • @creatornat There's an early Slipt Enz version of this. Maybe even pre Neil Finn I have it on a single, somewhere

  • @creatornat try getting hold of the 1st Jimmy & the Boys album!! it's ruuuude cruuuude & TOTALLY IGNATIOUS & JOYLEEN!!!

One of the funniest , yet musical album I ever heard!!!!

  • Tights and dunny plunger contorting himself on stage, too funny!

  • Ignatius was awesome live. These lyrics are more than this song says.

  • Loved this share sunsets thanks :)

  • Pardon me Boys, even better!!!

  • The guy went to same boarding school in Sydney as I did....much later than I did though - surprised he got out alive!

  • wish I could got to he armadale hotel and see jimmy and the boys again.... I never looked at a glad wrap roll with ease again

  • These guys rocked live..

  • ig such a weird guy and his sister monica was a play school regular. must have been fun at their house at dinner

  • what happend to split enz's verson of this song ?? i cant find it anywere.... i dont like this one !

  • I have that version, maybe I can send it to you?

  • i heard the drummer broke his arm when the wall fell on him?

    zzzfm

  • Is there anywhere I can hear Tim's version of the song! I've heard a snippet from the Enzology podcast but that's it! I like this version though!

  • its on tims myspace page u can download it. tim sing it better than ignacious does probly coz he wrote the song now he has recorded it. sound wicked.

  • I'm ecstatic that this is here! I've always found it curious that Tim Finn didn't like this take on the song. If Split Enz had recorded this in the late 70's, this is exactly how I would have expected it to sound.

  • I think Tim may have been envious. Pretty much similar to Tim's look.

  • @Raspadora I've heard his original demo of this song and it sounds different. More basic

  • My Favorite.Very Unique and very smart and Beautiful song....MyGa

  • I'm 30 yrs too late, but these are great!

  • lol...its ok we will slow down n wait for ya...welcome to the real music era..;)

  • I love it! I saw them perform this live when I was 16! Brilliant.

  • tim finn wrote it, he got pissed off with this version so he sang it again his way

  • hey i got a cd and Tim Finn sang this song ...so who wrote it????

  • Tim Finn wrote it - your CD obviously features Tim's version.

  • hooray for Tim Finn, gotta give the kIWIS CREDIT.

  • Is the CD called "the other enz?

  • yeah "the other enz "its not bad they could have done without all the live stuff all the off shoot studio stuff is cool BUT MY ALL TIME FAVE IS FRENZY A&M VERSION!!!!!!!! of the enz

  • yeah I want tho hear Tim finn's version, maybe you should post it on here...

  • 2:29 looks soooo scary

  • There's a Triple J DVD available, called Enter The Eighties... this video and other cassics are on it!

  • hi nzoz, sometimes you get bloody dickheads here that take everything to heart, I love your videos, keep them coming, you are a Legend.

  • he, he... thank you

  • Love your work nzoz1981! Takes me back...

  • This just screams twink gay porn and/or pedophilia...

  • I'm sorry, but please explain how this 'screams' pedophilia? Were children mentioned in this song or are you just imagining things?

    Please reply.

  • I am most certainly NOT imagining anything of that sort.. i'll explain at a later time where I came up with my rather crass analysis - please forgive if I offended anyone.. was not my intention..

  • I'm certainly looking forward to reading your crass 'analysis'.

  • for gods sake go the Hell away, life would be better without dickouts like you

  • Just love this song.I remember in 1981 when I was 11 and I still love it.Thanks

  • Ignatius rocks! And he did this song, graciously given to him by Tim Finn excellently.

  • Wow, can u bliev that this song was ritten by Neil Finn, yes he of Split Enz & he gav it 2 Jimmy & th boys bcos he thought it did not suit th Enzs.

  • Tim, not Neil

  • I stand corrected, thanku.

  • Wow it is amazing you have a grasp of the English Language. You may want to go to night classes so you can at least respond to this forum and consider yourself literate!

  • Wow another nutter on utube who thinks they have the right to tell people how to express themselves, oh look I spelt everyword corectitlatilyy. Damn & I wuz doin so wel, that last part was me using sarcasm, you may want to go & look it up in a Dictionary. oops there I go agin !

  • Of course, Ignatius Jones is the brother of Monica Trapaga, of Play School fame.

  • Wow I had no idea. I learn something everyday

  • absolute genious

  • Has to be one of the best LIVE bands I saw through the pub band era of the late 70's & 80's. Saw them every opportunity I could - sigh.....The good old Sundowner Hotel and the Bexley North Hotel and The Boulevarde were just a few of the great venues..

  • Seen hime at the Countdown 2 Spectacular and he was brilliant.

  • Another forgotten classic Aussie pop/rock hit from the Countdown era. Amazing how Ignatius Jones has changed his artistic persona these last 20 odd years...and if you catch him at the Countdown Spectacular you'll see he hasn't lost that manic uniqueness.

  • Ignatius Jones organised the 2000 Fireworks display on Sydney Harbour. Rock on rubberman

  • i was in ozz in 1981 ,on a working holiday visas ,from manchester uk i was 23 at the time still one of my classics ,i'm now 49 ! also remember donny sutherland show .and a segment called joylenes address to the nation ,was ignatius the same person ?

  • ha ha, Ignatius Jones and Joylene Hairmouth were two different people but in same band. Iggy is now director of the New Year's Eve fire works display in Sydney (and other organisations)

  • No Ignatius was the lead singer and jolene hairmouth was the keyboard player,,great band i seen them live many times,,Pete

  • wow memories, the juke box at the local pub and only two of us ever paid money to hear this song, if it came on i knew he was there and he knew i was there, thanks for sharing

  • Written by Tim Finn (Ex Split Enz)

  • Anyone know what the drummer Hamish is doing these days?

  • the things? bondi vista

  • Bit of useless trivia for you, Ignatius Jones now is the writer/director of "The Australian Outback Spectacular" show on the Gold Coast.

  • wished i'd known in ozz at easter ,in the area .steve madchester uk

  • Great to see again after all these years - I bought the single and I still play it!

  • One of my absolute fave songs of the 80's - thanks so much for posting.

    Wonderful

    John

  • I agree quogirl1.I love this.I have been searching for it for about 15 years. Thanks for the upload nzoz1981.

  • No worries - I recorded this from Rage during the early days of the show - when it was worth watching.

  • lmao , how true is that about Rage ! ..absolute alternative crap these days chosen by freaky host's who look completely smashed off their face ! the clip choices prove it

  • so many of those freaks make me cringe. I can barely watch the show these days.

  • I almost cry when I think how good Rage used to be.I only watch it now when they show Countdown.

I've loved this song since I was about eight I was way ahead of my time

You can get it on Time Life eighties cd collection

  • I love it, I love it, So many memories. I had this on a compilation cassette many moons ago and I never tire of listening to it, I am a mother of 2 and trust me I would listen to this music than whaqt my teen daughter listens to,
