Ive seen this plane at a couple of airshows in the past few years, awesome power and capable of maneuvers that ive never seen any other aircraft perform, reminds me in a way of the old RAF lightning..
its a power vs agility match. so a don't know why people bother arguing about it. F22s and eurofighter will always be on same team so who cares. F22s have more power but a eurofighter can out maneuverer it. so unless f22s ever come up against a typhoon we'l never know. i know one thing though, Ive spoke to a US pilot who's flown in a RAF typhoon and he said he'd change to a typhoon any day. so read into that what you want!
the eurofighters are deafaningly loud eh? i hope you had them ear muff things to stop the sound if you were that close! i saw them at leuchars air show a few weeks ago, epic plane but friggin loud!
In 2004, United States Air Force Chief of Staff General John P. Jumper said after flying the Eurofighter, "I have flown all the air force jets. None was as good as the Eurofighter."[114][115] Wikipedia doesnt lie...
Can somebody, who really does know something about this aircraft, tell me where is it's Mauser cannon placed at? I need to know the exact location and I find it nowhere :\
What was that dirty smudge along the fuselage in the mid section of the wing? Some hot gas outlet? Sure will make that section hot and another inviting homing spot for an IR AAM? Great looking aircraft and performance to match and will it standup to the Su 35?
There is a rumour that a Eurofighter got a lock on to an F-22 at surprisingly long range, and for this reason the americans didn't want to have their pride and joy blown out of the water. I SAID A RUMOUR for any objectors
Stop masturbating over F22! Seriously! It wasn't even the best alternative when it got elected! It got elected because it was "cheap". Now, lets talk about F22 and EF. Yes, F22 is great, but it isn't Godlike. F22 is extremely hard to get lock-on. It is stealth. EF is great plane, probably the most maneuverable plane ever made. It is hard to lock on as well. So, they have their own advantages, and in one situations one of them is superior, and in another situation another plane is superior.
I have no info if a Typhoon ever achieved lock on an F-22. I seriously doubt it. There was an 'Rumour during' case white where a Typhoon was pounced on by a pair of F15 Strike Eagles, the Typhoon pilot achieved lock on both aircraft.
your right about the EF took out 2 F-15 and an F-16 in a mock dog fight, seriously doubt that the EF did get a lock on to a F22 like you said as the F22 during another simulation carried out in alaska were one F22 took out 186 aircraft, those aircraft being F-15's, F-16's, and F-18's
In aircombat you need every advantage you can get, i think the F-22 has the edge bvr. But when it comes to turn and burning the EF could hold its own against the F22, and the F22 would lose its stealth advantage.
Jesus, why do Americans always go mental when someone questions whether the F22 is less than Godly. Besides, it's only another plane they can use to bomb their allies with.

And before all these people say that either plane is sh*t and this is better than that, the RAF (Royal Air Force) and USAF (United States Air Force) both confirmed that a Eurofighter Typhoon 2000 did have missile lock on a F-22 in a special training practise (Friendly Dogfight).

i think that as a muti role plane this is superb and if you check your facts the F-22 is actually from all around the world look at the parts, the only reason the rest of the world doesn't have it is because americans are to big headed and the only way they can be the best is to get technology put it together then keep the outcome all to them self.

'The Typhoon is out-dated and a waste of money. It was out-dated before it even went into production'
What a pathetic comment, in what way do you mean 'Out-Dated'?
Maybe its the avionics? which are the most modern and most advanced, or maybe because it is a delta wing aircraft (rolling my eyes) or maybe the bubble cockpit which gives the pilot an all around visual.
As for a waste of money lol, maybe you should look at the F-22 for waste of money, the whole program is dying on its feet.

Very well said. Specially to be noted are the maintenance manhours/flight hour. Where the F-22 a disaster at more then 20h. Eurofighter needs 9-10h mmh/fh. General Norton Schwartz declared the F-22 mission capable is only 60%. At a total of $354 million per plane the F-22 is not only the most expensive but also the most difficult fighter aircraft to maintain and it isn't even experiencing combat stress. LO maintenance hours account for over half of all maintenance time.
nice, it can pretty much land and takeoff anywhere in anyplace...cool. Sadly in the future if either the SU, F-22, or Eurofighter ever meet up as enemies, alot of good pilots would die as a result.
The Typhoon's a beast, I'm so happy our air force finally has something that can beat the stuff that the bad guys are flying. I personally think the F-22 is just a little better than the Tiffie due to its greater combat t/w ratio, stealth & thrust vectoring, but it's an awful lot more expensive too, and it'll be working with us anyway 'cos the USA ain't selling that to anyone for a looong time, if ever.
BLOODY HELL!!! will all of you idiots who are pretending to know what the hell your on about shut the fuck up, why all the competition? both countires have done amazing to come up with such fantastic and advanced fighter jets, SO END OF!!!!!
Also, I honestly couldent care less what's better the F-22 or Typhoon, what I care about is the fact that we're making planes for ourselves and not using American jets.
I think the F-22 would shoot down the eurofighter before it has even seen anything, because the F-22 is a stealth plane and it would see the eurofighter before the eurofighter sees the F-22 on the radar. Not that i don't think the eurofighter is an awesome plane though.
Well we can't say anything since we haven't seen the F-22 in actual combat yet. You know, in the Red Flag excersizes that Britain participates in as well as many other countries, the F-22 has a perfect kill score with 0 losses in simulation.
I'm not 100% sure about this but I think if you check you'll find that neither the Typhoon or the F-22 have participated in Red Flag yet. Red Flag starts next week I think.
I know that the Typhoon is scheduled to take part this year. I'm not sure about the Raptor although one would have to assume that it would.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
So the F-22 would win against a Typhoon in a dogfight because of its stealth?? In a Dogfight? Somethings wrong dude. ;D But the Typhoon is f**kin agile. Its more then just a match for the F-22.
Yeah have to take missile locking on in effect, if the missile cannot lock on, then you can't shoot it down in a dogfight or it's unlikely. The F-22 is very maneuverable too, but to be honest, it's really rare that the F-22 would be in a dogfight.
The EuroFighter and F-22 are the best aircraft on this planet. But I think in a 1 vs 1 dogfight I think the F-22 would win because of its stealth and weapons capabilities. Eurofighter would probably put up one hell of a fight though. The F-22 hasn't seen combat yet so its true capabilities are estimations. But I'm sure it would do much better than what is said.
stop comparing the f-22 and the typhoon, they are both very different aircraft. they have their own strengths and weaknesses. BOTH are great bits of aero engineering....
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Eurofighter is far better than the F-22 Craptor. Ok, the Raptor has f-l,f-s,-f-k capabilities, but the Eurofighter has a better weapons payload, its faster, has better acceleration, has better maneuverability - I've just seen one literally half an hour ago at Biggin Hill Airshow, the front of the plane swings round after the back so it does crazy high G turns. Also the Mirage 2000 was excellent.
and yet, the Eurofighter would get blown out of the sky before it ever knew where the F-22 was, taking that huge payload to the ground with it. bummer.
I'm not saying the Eurofighter is a poor fighter. It is one of the best in the world. It's maneuverability, acceleration, and payload may well be superior to the F-22 (though I doubt the maneuverability one). However, these are all sacrifices made by the Raptor to give it the far superior stealth capabilities that render the firepower of the Eurofighter useless. But hey, it's a great plane, and more affordable, right?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
EF so the US could simulate a fight. Thats bullshit! You dont have proof that the raptor has beaten the ef. but we have a magazine which proofs otherwise. your just a fan like all the other 10 year olds. so stop talking crap about some stupid computer bullshit and keep playing -lock on-!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Raptor, isnt FF the Tailcode for Langley, VA? How old are you anyway? What are you doing for living? Get a life! Europe would never provide all infos of the
...but the aircraft did cause a suprise by getting a radar lock on the F22 at a suprisingly long rate. The F-22s cried off, claiming that they were "unstealthed" anyway, although the next day´s scheduled two vs. two BWR engagement was canceled, and "the USAF decided they didn´t want to play any more .
"two RAF Typhoons deployed to the USA for OEU trails work have been flying against the F-22 at NAS China Lake. There was little suprise that Typhoon, with its world-class agility and high off-boresight missile capability was able to dominate "Within Visual Range" flight.."
Also the USAF would not admit that the ef kicked the raptors a**. Caues in the US its all about the patriotism and the recruitment. they need more pilots for the "best" aircraft in the world, am i right? right!
dude they do NOT need pilots for hte F-22 there r so many pilots wanting to fly it its not funny still even if they did not brag about it ppl would still wanna fly it plus there r still alot of secrets in that jet that only the pilots know and a select few. nothing is stoping it for a good 30-40 years but by then there will be a new advanced F-22 and that would kick the one out right now in the ass

i think that as a muti role plane this is superb and if you check your facts the F-22 is actually from all around the world look at the parts, the only reason the rest of the world doesn't have it is because americans are to big headed and the only way they can be the best is to get technology put it together then keep the outcome all to them self.
personally i agree with friesenjung87 if the pilot is crap and cant hit a target then hat good is he at all

LO maintenance hours account for over half of all maintenance time.
techdefined 2 years ago
nice, it can pretty much land and takeoff anywhere in anyplace...cool. Sadly in the future if either the SU, F-22, or Eurofighter ever meet up as enemies, alot of good pilots would die as a result.

Yeh it does the Eurofighter typhoon is a lot lighter and has more ratio, than the F-15 but the F-15 is more superior in other ways!

Yes ET is lighter and has no need to use reheat for take - off dry power only 40,000 Lbs of thrust !. F-15 not in same league !

The Typhoon's a beast, I'm so happy our air force finally has something that can beat the stuff that the bad guys are flying. I personally think the F-22 is just a little better than the Tiffie due to its greater combat t/w ratio, stealth & thrust vectoring, but it's an awful lot more expensive too, and it'll be working with us anyway 'cos the USA ain't selling that to anyone for a looong time, if ever.

f22 is easily detected by typhoons v advanced radar. That thing is like a spaceship
Fianna10 3 years ago
Also, I honestly couldent care less what's better the F-22 or Typhoon, what I care about is the fact that we're making planes for ourselves and not using American jets.
Aerjas12 3 years ago
I think the F-22 would shoot down the eurofighter before it has even seen anything, because the F-22 is a stealth plane and it would see the eurofighter before the eurofighter sees the F-22 on the radar. Not that i don't think the eurofighter is an awesome plane though.

I dont care what the Yanks say, I've seen a few videos of each now and the Typhoon can turn on a sixpence and accelerates far stronger.
If you want a slow wallowing Cobra 24/7 or endles slow immelmans the F-22's for you.
I even think a su-30MKI or, 37 if eye to eye would tear it a new one.
I think apart from stealth, we might be seeing a bit of propeganda about the Raptor.
I'm sure its very good, but not upto is "Hype"
Lateralthink 3 years ago
Well we can't say anything since we haven't seen the F-22 in actual combat yet. You know, in the Red Flag excersizes that Britain participates in as well as many other countries, the F-22 has a perfect kill score with 0 losses in simulation.
undertake782 3 years ago
I'm sorry but I have to pull you up on this.

So the F-22 would win against a Typhoon in a dogfight because of its stealth?? In a Dogfight? Somethings wrong dude. ;D But the Typhoon is f**kin agile. Its more then just a match for the F-22.
germansascha 3 years ago
Yeah have to take missile locking on in effect, if the missile cannot lock on, then you can't shoot it down in a dogfight or it's unlikely. The F-22 is very maneuverable too, but to be honest, it's really rare that the F-22 would be in a dogfight.
undertake782 3 years ago
The EuroFighter and F-22 are the best aircraft on this planet. But I think in a 1 vs 1 dogfight I think the F-22 would win because of its stealth and weapons capabilities. Eurofighter would probably put up one hell of a fight though. The F-22 hasn't seen combat yet so its true capabilities are estimations. But I'm sure it would do much better than what is said.

Is3nM0rd3r 3 years ago
and yet, the Eurofighter would get blown out of the sky before it ever knew where the F-22 was, taking that huge payload to the ground with it. bummer.

Have you got even a shred of proof?
The Eurofighter has amazing in-air capabilities. It's almost impossible to be shot down.
Carlovingjosh 3 years ago
I'm not saying the Eurofighter is a poor fighter. It is one of the best in the world. It's maneuverability, acceleration, and payload may well be superior to the F-22 (though I doubt the maneuverability one). However, these are all sacrifices made by the Raptor to give it the far superior stealth capabilities that render the firepower of the Eurofighter useless. But hey, it's a great plane, and more affordable, right?

...but the aircraft did cause a suprise by getting a radar lock on the F22 at a suprisingly long rate. The F-22s cried off, claiming that they were "unstealthed" anyway, although the next day´s scheduled two vs. two BWR engagement was canceled, and "the USAF decided they didn´t want to play any more .

And what the Magazine Says:

do you really think, that the europeans give all the data about the ef to the americans so they can test it on their computers??? I dont think so.
germansascha 3 years ago
Also the USAF would not admit that the ef kicked the raptors a**. Caues in the US its all about the patriotism and the recruitment. they need more pilots for the "best" aircraft in the world, am i right? right!
germansascha 3 years ago
dude they do NOT need pilots for hte F-22 there r so many pilots wanting to fly it its not funny still even if they did not brag about it ppl would still wanna fly it plus there r still alot of secrets in that jet that only the pilots know and a select few. nothing is stoping it for a good 30-40 years but by then there will be a new advanced F-22 and that would kick the one out right now in the ass
