@MyJamjar in the 1953 movie/80s tv series they are also tripods; it appears at first glance they are flying, however, the warships are in fact supported from the ground by three electromagnetic 'invisible legs' (the three glowing green lights on the underside of the ship) it you watch the movie closely, you can see static on the ground underneith each ship as it moves ;) in episode 14 of the first series "Dust to Dust" an earlier model of this ship is seen which does have three mechanical legs
No, I just painted it in the bronze and green paint. Came out beautifully. It was produced by the same company that also produced my 'Earth vs the Flying Saucers' kit.
If it werent for Ray Harryhausen, we wouldn't have the blockbuster films of Lucas, Spielberg, Cameron and Jackson. He directly influenced them all. I met the man, and, apart from being a legend, he was a really nice guy too.
Very nice. Very cool. Thanks for posting.

It does actually come off the base, and also the cobra extension is moveable.

Did you build this Craig?

No. This actually came fully painted and assembled. I do have a solid resin war machine I built and painted though.

Did you chrome or gold plate it? Alclad makes great paints for the purpose.

Nope, that's how it came out of the box.

Okay then. You seem to be a big fan of classic films and...Ray Harryhausen.

fair enough, I am not a huge jackson fan personally. I am a Speilberg/ Zemeckis/ Burton fan.
