Between technology (sampling) and our rich Jazz lineage, most, if NOT all, made it easy for "knucklehead rappers" to portray as if they could make music. Now look at the music industry, it's has fallen to shreds. Yes, I said it. Rap has mess up the music industry. Why pay an accomplished musician 100k, when you can pay an ignorant rapper 5k & sell to teenie-boopers (his fans) and make millions.
@DoubleLwithWARZONE Nobody is hating rap. I have Platinum & Gold albums b/c of Rap. I did Rap before the rest of the world thought it was cool to do. The cutting and pasting i.e., sampling that rap has created has watered down music - and we have a generation of non-musicians. Lastly, nobody's an old man. You Utubers are stupid.
I liked how all the instruments played their own chords and then came together. Now this is the way jazz is suppose to sound. Thanks so much great post. I really enjoyed listen'n.
@alljazz98 I BOUGHT THIS LP WHEN FIRST RELEASED IN 1972; THIS PIECE FEATURES FREDDIE HUBBARD ON FLUGELHORN & HERBIE HANCOCK ON KEYBOARDS. I PLAYED IT CONSTANTLY, STILL HAVE THE LP; ALSO HAVE IT ON CD & PLAY IT AT TIMES. WOW, I SURE MISS THE OLD MUSICIANS. I MET MILT ONCE AT GILLY'S JAZZ CLUB IN DAYTON, OHIO, AFTER THE RELEASE OF THIS ALBUM. I MET HIM AGAIN SOON AFTER AT THE MONTEREY JAZZ FESTIVAL, I BELIEVE (IT MAY HAVE BEEN ANOTHER FEST BUT I REMEMBER THAT IT WAS OUTDOORS! GREAT MUSIC!
