I didn't use an emulator. I don't know what emulator would be the best emulator, but I know that Xeon is very limited and CXBX converts Xbox games to Windows games (according to emulator-zone). The best emulator is probably an Xbox 360, but as you stated you aren't interested in it.
Brings back memories.. this game's a legend. I still got the first SEGA GT for PC, and I still play it. So fun. They should release a new Sega GT, I miss this game, reminds me of Gran Turismo.
I should say I prefer the original SEGA GT. Even if it had twitchy controls, it's the original game.
However, I've found SEGA GT 2002 and SEGA GT Online to be very nice sims for the XBOX. In fact, if SEGA and Microsoft continued with this, Forza would have never existed. And this was like Enthusia back in those days: an alternative racing simulator that had no fear to equal Gran Turismo.

If you like realistic racing games,then I would give it a 4.7/5,if you like fast arcade style game,it gets a 4/5,and if you like ones with big cars and off road racing, then it gets a 2/5.
