the black dog is like one i saw at the shelter but the one in the shelter was scared horribly and we were told he would be put down in a couple of days and was much to dangerous to be a pet; we adopted him.
@atomicwendy yeah, but he has to this day heavy mental scars. He doesn't allow any dog to run up to him; we've done a TON of training but sadly somethings you can't train out of a dog. Now he has to be muzzled anywhere he goes. It's tough but i couldn't let him be put down, I LOVE YOU BOLEK!!!!
@atomicwendy thanks the only thing i hate the most is the looks from people when they see his scars. He wasn't really used for fighting he was a baiting dog. Meaning they muzzled him and forced two other dogs on him. They didn't even use a real muzzle they took wire and wrapped it around his muzzle to the point of which he could barley breath. i was told when i adopted him he was found in a ditch his legs tied and he was barely alive. But they took him to the shelter were i found him. :)

@Jelet55 I only own one APBT. And she is not from a shelter, but from a highly reputable APBT breeder who is also known for training his dogs for narcotics. And she is very well behaved, as she went into training at 2 months old. She is absolutely non aggressive with our other dogs.
@Jelet55 No, not normal for them to be agressive. I work in the shelter, and the primary breed we get is Pitbulls, and I've only met two that were agressive. And most of the friendly ones were fighting dogs. They were very kind with other dogs, cats, kids, and people.
I happen to own a pit bull, including 4 other dogs. She has NEVER shown aggression towards them, my family, kids, or anything. Not one ounce of aggression in her. So, no, pit bulls are not naturally killers. In fact, she has more love in her than any dog I've met. A total cuddle-bug, ready to please, extremely intelligent dog.

@Jelet55 I got one of my pits from a rescue, he was seized a long with 29 other dogs. He was 8 weeks old and both his parents were fighters, I guess his great grandpa or somthing was a champion. He never had aggession towards anyone or any dog, but then again I know how to train dogs.

@PitPurgatory Tying a dog up in a back yard, not neutering it, and starving it is not training the dog. I bet if you were tied up in a backyard with little or no human contact you would go insane too. Pit bulls require a lot of love and attention, you can't just tie them up in the backyard and ignore them. They will try to escape and they become feral just like a cat who has no human contact becomes feral. If they are beaten they lose trust and become aggressive. It is the human's fault.

Dog fighting is extremely different from boxing, where people have gloves and gear to protect their faces. They can only punch, dogs bite, that's very different from hitting. And what if one dog didn't want to fight, but the other did? Well that one wouldn't fight and the other would likely end up killing it because it wasn't defending itself. MOST dog fighters are stupid people who DO starve their dogs because they don't THINK.

Pits were not the first dogs used for fighting. Dog fighting is mean because the dog doesn't have a choice. It can fight and live if they win, or fight and die if they loose. To train for fighting they also use other dogs, weak ones for the "winning" dog to beat up and come close to killing, that is mean. I might also add their is no such thing as a bad breed only bad owners. I have a Czech wolf hybrid, and guess what. It's not a "human biter" as you put. I have many friends whom have pits also, and their dogs are cared for and trained just as mine is. and guess what. Never had a problem with any of them at the local dog park either. Just happy healthy animals playing and enjoying life.

i would like to cry.... i take care of two stray dogs... the first one is named diday... the second is herbie.. they are both female dogs...very cute and cuddly... i will never want to see them being maltreated and taken advantage of as what the cruel people are doing!!! i love them even though they don't have breed and they are not expensive.. i love them more because they are stray dogs... they need more love and affection from people!!!

Those dogs were raised to fight for entertainment, they don't know love. No, you can't train a dog to fight, it comes naturally, but you can train a dog to attack.

You MUST get both sides to a story and all facts before you can really comprehend. because you have to remember this was when it was legal....the breed was designed for this, so back when people bred dogs for function and not to look pretty, like people breeding the best retriever to the best retriever, people did it with the pit dogs..real dogmen dont make a dog fight, if the dog jumps the pit or does not fight back they stop the fight and cur the dog. (get rid of, alter, give away, euth ect.) most people are fur momies and raise a fuss but its how it was/is.

@Jelet55 I only own one APBT. And she is not from a shelter, but from a highly reputable APBT breeder who is also known for training his dogs for narcotics. And she is very well behaved, as she went into training at 2 months old. She is absolutely non aggressive with our other dogs.

@Jelet55 No, not normal for them to be agressive. I work in the shelter, and the primary breed we get is Pitbulls, and I've only met two that were agressive. And most of the friendly ones were fighting dogs. They were very kind with other dogs, cats, kids, and people.

I happen to own a pit bull, including 4 other dogs. She has NEVER shown aggression towards them, my family, kids, or anything. Not one ounce of aggression in her. So, no, pit bulls are not naturally killers. In fact, she has more love in her than any dog I've met. A total cuddle-bug, ready to please, extremely intelligent dog.

@Jelet55 I got one of my pits from a rescue, he was seized a long with 29 other dogs. He was 8 weeks old and both his parents were fighters, I guess his great grandpa or somthing was a champion. He never had aggession towards anyone or any dog, but then again I know how to train dogs.

@PitPurgatory Tying a dog up in a back yard, not neutering it, and starving it is not training the dog. I bet if you were tied up in a backyard with little or no human contact you would go insane too. Pit bulls require a lot of love and attention, you can't just tie them up in the backyard and ignore them. They will try to escape and they become feral just like a cat who has no human contact becomes feral. If they are beaten they lose trust and become aggressive. It is the human's fault.

Dog fighting is extremely different from boxing, where people have gloves and gear to protect their faces. They can only punch, dogs bite, that's very different from hitting. And what if one dog didn't want to fight, but the other did? Well that one wouldn't fight and the other would likely end up killing it because it wasn't defending itself. MOST dog fighters are stupid people who DO starve their dogs because they don't THINK.

Not all of these dogs like fighting. Believe it or not some are born without the want to fight. And actually some fight to the death, or fight so badly that they get injuries that kill them. Pits were not the first dogs used for fighting. Dog fighting is mean because the dog doesn't have a choice. It can fight and live if they win, or fight and die if they loose. To train for fighting they also use other dogs, weak ones for the "winning" dog to beat up and come close to killing, that is mean. I hope you come back in your second life as a dog stuck in a fighting ring. See how you would like it when you were old and couldn't win anymore.
