Wow... not very creative... Check out the band Magna-Fi and the song "Where did we go wrong" and YOU tell me where the inspiration for this song came from...
@daboyz78 Although I posted this video in March 2007, the video was shot in 1998, as the description clearly states. The album Destination Failure, where this song appears, was released in August 1997. Magna-Fi's album Burn Out The Stars which contains Where Did We Go Wrong was released in July 2002. I'll leave you to do the math. Josh Caterer told me personally where he got the inspiration for this song. And, trust me, it's from a much higher power than Magna-Fi.
this is so great. and kind of trippy. i did a show with defiant (who were (and probably still are?) pretty much the coolest people ever) when i was little. and subsequently had this album on a loop for years. FORMATIVENESS.
Josh never says the song was first written about God, but in the live album, he announced, "This song defines my relationship with Jesus Christ." That's what he thinks of every time he sings it, and that's how I'm going to think about it too.
This song gets played at our church (Harvest Bible Chapel) sometimes and performed by lead singer, Josh, who is one of the worship leaders. Check out YouTube video for "Smoking Popes - God at Work". Really cool testimonial of their lead singer, Josh.
I don't think they are gay...at least that is what I have been told. I always thought they were too. My wife said they "are not". They are still awesome, no matter what.

they look like they liked wearing cardigans....ala pavement. Great band, great song and great memories.......*sigh* to be 15 again.

to me, it's a love song about whoever, just coz they wrote about God, doesn't mean you have to interpret it like that, you're the listener :)
bendinggreenvans 3 years ago
i agree with you about interpretation. It's unlikely this is about Gob, since it came out 1997 and he became a christian in 1998.

Such an amazing chorus, it's perfect to just scream out as loud as you can

lovely song!:)

Despite their Christian overtones, I still like them. I Know You Love Me is a great song no matter who it's about.
LawnDarts1 4 years ago
I don't think they were Christian yet.
gentlemanoffortune 4 years ago
Ah. I heard that the song was about God. I always thought it was just a great love song.
LawnDarts1 4 years ago
It could well be about God. It would make perfect sense. But like you said, it's a great song either way!
gentlemanoffortune 4 years ago
It is a great love song. That is what they would say to you

Dude, Josh keeps his band and his worship leading away from each other I have noticed,
