  • this video is rad...word up chi-town:)

  • At least one of us loves him.

  • <3 :)

  • Smoking Popes gave me a track for a benefit album I did awhile back. Very cool guys.

  • Well, somebody sure got shit on.

Wish I had a time machine and could visit the popes.

  • this song brings back so many memories!!!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG

    GREAT GREAT SONG. LITTLE MASTERPIECE

  • @daboyz78 Although I posted this video in March 2007, the video was shot in 1998, as the description clearly states. The album Destination Failure, where this song appears, was released in August 1997. Magna-Fi's album Burn Out The Stars which contains Where Did We Go Wrong was released in July 2002. I'll leave you to do the math. Josh Caterer told me personally where he got the inspiration for this song. And, trust me, it's from a much higher power than Magna-Fi.

  • @daboyz78 Whoa, I didn't know Josh Caterer had a time machine... :D

  • @daboyz78 Damn, you just got owned. How does it feel daboyz78? idiot.

  • @daboyz78 what a dumbass this video came out before that one

  • Wooooo!!! Can't wait to see these guys tonight!

  • i love this song reminds me of a special someone...its our song :)

  • Amazing band. I don't know how I'm JUST now discovering them, but they're growing on me fast.

  • Damn! I love this song! Cool video too. Can't get enough of the Smoking Popes.

  • Beautiful song.

  • It doesn't matter what the song's about, it's a great song nonetheless.

  • the lead singer leads worship at my church now, pretty cool.

  • this is so great. and kind of trippy. i did a show with defiant (who were (and probably still are?) pretty much the coolest people ever) when i was little. and subsequently had this album on a loop for years. FORMATIVENESS.

  • define cool?

  • boss, dandy, divine, glorious, hunky-dory, keen, marvelous, neat, nifty, sensational, swell

  • they look like they liked wearing cardigans....ala pavement. Great band, great song and great memories.......*sigh* to be 15 again.

  • to me, it's a love song about whoever, just coz they wrote about God, doesn't mean you have to interpret it like that, you're the listener :)

  • i agree with you about interpretation. It's unlikely this is about Gob, since it came out 1997 and he became a christian in 1998.

  • Such an amazing chorus, it's perfect to just scream out as loud as you can

  • lovely song!:)

  • Despite their Christian overtones, I still like them. I Know You Love Me is a great song no matter who it's about.

  • I don't think they were Christian yet.

  • Ah. I heard that the song was about God. I always thought it was just a great love song.

  • It could well be about God. It would make perfect sense. But like you said, it's a great song either way!

  • It is a great love song. That is what they would say to you

  • Josh never says the song was first written about God, but in the live album, he announced, "This song defines my relationship with Jesus Christ." That's what he thinks of every time he sings it, and that's how I'm going to think about it too.

  • for the very first few seconds i thought this video was going to be terrible, but i was really impressed. definitely watch the whole thing!

  • Thank you so much for posting this! I always wanted to see this video.

  • Wish the video to NEED YOU AROUND was up on youtube!

i love all thier albums... new one coming out this winter/ early '08

  • it is! watch?v=BWl-HSnwLWs

  • This song gets played at our church (Harvest Bible Chapel) sometimes and performed by lead singer, Josh, who is one of the worship leaders. Check out YouTube video for "Smoking Popes - God at Work". Really cool testimonial of their lead singer, Josh.

  • I have been going to Harvest for four years and have never seen Josh perform this song. Why would he?

  • Dude, Josh keeps his band and his worship leading away from each other I have noticed,

  • the lead singer became a born again and left the band, but rejoined yrs. later by popular demand

  • Who's less gay, Smoking Popes or Pansy Division? hahahaha. J/k. I love the Popes.

  • I don't think they are gay...at least that is what I have been told. I always thought they were too. My wife said they "are not". They are still awesome, no matter what.

  • Isin't Josh married...

  • and do you have anymore smoking popes videos?

  • wtf....this is awesome.

  • What a video.

  • Part of me thinks the credits are slightly over the top.
