He has a 1000hp 347 Ute ,also have a look at xr6 turbo's as they are a 4.0L DOHC Inline6 with turbo. We make the xr8 too that we use the 5.4L quad cam engine from the Sates. There is a few suppercarged monsters of them going around too
greeleykid, you are wrong. The thing with a blower or turbo is the engine efficiency is HIGH % throughout the RPM band. In any natural aspirated motor, there is a sweet spot that will reach 90% efficiency and that is it. The dyno graph looks like a mountain. On a boosted build the engine can run at near 90% the entire band depending on what style power adder, and maintains a much flatter dyno. So the replacement for displacement, is a power adder....plain and simple.
chevrolet quit focusing on the 305. when we think SBC everyone thinks at least 350ci. and every ford guy out there compares there mustang to the camaros running 350 engines LT engines or LS engines. no one braggs about a 305. and yes any motor can run with any. its all about how much money you have. used to it was tuning and gears. now its who has the most money. racing isnt like it used to be.

I would image this car to be 11.3-11.65 on DR's and 11.7-12.1 on street tires if I had to guess... simply because the 400whp 10.9 car had 4.10 gears, a 3500stall a lot of suspension work and drag radials. this is definitely a street car

Its about turning force and gear ration. Not torque as it applies work as a fuction of time.
If they made the torque higher in the RPM range they would have a HUGE horsepower increase. Thats why cams make such a big differnce in horspower for 5.0s
i know cars,and bikes, you always round up. a 1000 cc bike is sometimes 989 . chevy made a 302 also. 305 chevy should never be compaired to a FORD 5.0. you can talk all the shit in the world, but a 5.0 FORD will kill a 5.0 (305) chevy. 5.0 (302) 4.9 ford{what ever floats your boat) will run with most any motor if done right and with smaller cubic inces. even a 347 is still smaller than a 350 chevy. and if you really want to get tec. race engines are not ford or chevy only the blocks. if not aft.

@moto4runner i know, i'm just saying that if you build the bottom end up in a boosted k20 eg, and you build the bottom end up in a N/A challenger..the eg will win, a bottom end build doesn't do much if that all you've done..add a turbo to a built bottom end and you can crank that boost up, you'd leave that challenger in smoke once you caught traction lol
@greeleykid idk man itd be pretty close. im sure an all motor 426 challenger can do 600rwhp easily with a higher comp ratioand some race gas. then account for otherthings. but in the end there really is no replacement for displacement. the right built/boosted 4 banger will beat alot of mildly built big blocks. but boosted built big blocks theres just no replacement. its simple physics, bigger displacement = more combustable air. thats why dragsters use supercharged 426s and make 8000hp.

347 is a STROKED 302. Thirty over and 3.4 stroke. It is a pushrod motor with one central camshaft, not a 331 5.4 liter overhead valve/cam motor. Not even close in your comparison, two entirely different families of engine
these mustangs lasted 15 years, the longest of any mustang. there not ugly. and you'll probably see more of these at the dragstrip than any other car. so when your carrera gt breaks down you'll be askin a ford to bring you home.

Autos take about 20%. And yeah, it's a small blower with a small supercharger, 450 rwhp isnt anything... And I myself would hop that it's wheel horse power levels, 450 at the flywheel is disappointing.
i dont think thats on nos think about it you can get 330 rwhp on a natral asp stroked out 302 plus a blower another 100 so theres 400+ with out nos so id say thats no nitrous prob 200 shot would do high-mid 10's,,,, funny little civics and mitsi on fast and the fakest..........
456hp is only the motor alone! When you dyno a car for horse power and torque you do not include the NOS. Whatever he is squeezing would be in addition to that number, you could probably add another 150 easy. This is one hella sick mustang, props to the owner/builder.
Wrong! You include every single modified aspect of an engine during dyno'ing. A 150 shot of NOS does not mean you get an extra 150whp, it is relevant to your modifications (internals, fuelling, aspiration etc etc)
Therefore a 'charged and NOS'd engine at 456whp is perfectly viable.
Not always do they include the NOS while dynoing a car. It depends a lot on the type of NOS system your running. I'm assuming that since this shows low hp for this guys setup, it's all motor on that dyno.
dude just about every car can somoke black with that kind of exhaust and if someone is stupid enogh to buy a 347 ford they are pretty stupid that most likely is a chevy engine
Ditch that roots type and put on a centrifucal. I put down 510rwhp/530lb-ft with 8 psi. This is from a very mild 347 with a Vortech SQS. With a a 50 shot I put down 545rwhp and 598lb-ft. Overkill, i'm sure you car would accelerate better since i'd just liquify the rear tires.

The actual displacement of a 302 IS in fact 4.9L. The 5.0L Is just the name for it, cause it sounds better, and is a nice round number. 302's are 4.9L.
ERietdyk is probably right, 1996+ is called a 289 but it is really a 281 4.6l.... 289 was just a rly good motor ford had in the 60s and so that wanted something older men could adjust too like the fairlanes etc.

@greeleykid yeah dude, there really is no replacement for displacement. i mean im a jdm guy i got 2 japs. but i also am an intern as a ford tech. throw the biggest turbo u can on a 4 banger... alot of power right? yes, those rally cars are pushin like 600hp, but not reliable and ridiculous amount of turbo lag. then throw a huge turbo on a 572 chevy thats already pushin 750hp and then what do you got? easily a thousand plus hp. with no lag. the point is big engines dont need turbos to make power.

@moto4runner true but any turbo'd engine making around 1000 hp can fail at any time, the only thing you can do to try to prevent it is build it right..then you also have to factor in that most "jap" cars that use turbo's to make great amounts of power usually weigh about 1300 lbs less than their v8 challengers all while making a little less power..seriously, who is going to win. a built and boosted h22/k20 eg, or just a built all engine charger..probably the eg

@greeleykid yeah a built and boosted eg is going to be fast as fuck no doubt. but a new challenger with 400 smthn horses isnt built yet, thats right out of the factory. a "built" all engine challenger in a straight line would still beat a boosted eg depending on how mild or wild the all engine build is. an all motor engine is also always going to be more reliable than something thats boosted. for pure speed/drags id always buy big block, for track id always buy something thats light and boosted

@moto4runner i know, i'm just saying that if you build the bottom end up in a boosted k20 eg, and you build the bottom end up in a N/A challenger..the eg will win, a bottom end build doesn't do much if that all you've done..add a turbo to a built bottom end and you can crank that boost up, you'd leave that challenger in smoke once you caught traction lol

@greeleykid idk man itd be pretty close. im sure an all motor 426 challenger can do 600rwhp easily with a higher comp ratioand some race gas. then account for otherthings. but in the end there really is no replacement for displacement. the right built/boosted 4 banger will beat alot of mildly built big blocks. but boosted built big blocks theres just no replacement. its simple physics, bigger displacement = more combustable air. thats why dragsters use supercharged 426s and make 8000hp.

347 is a STROKED 302. Thirty over and 3.4 stroke. It is a pushrod motor with one central camshaft, not a 331 5.4 liter overhead valve/cam motor. Not even close in your comparison, two entirely different families of engine

Autos take about 20%. And yeah, it's a small blower with a small supercharger, 450 rwhp isnt anything... And I myself would hop that it's wheel horse power levels, 450 at the flywheel is disappointing.

I know a guy who owns a performance shop in MN who built a 347 for my brother. It dynoed at 485 HP at the flywheel, with NO supercharger, or nitrous.

i dont think thats on nos think about it you can get 330 rwhp on a natral asp stroked out 302 plus a blower another 100 so theres 400+ with out nos so id say thats no nitrous prob 200 shot would do high-mid 10's,,,, funny little civics and mitsi on fast and the fakest..........

456hp is only the motor alone! When you dyno a car for horse power and torque you do not include the NOS. Whatever he is squeezing would be in addition to that number, you could probably add another 150 easy. This is one hella sick mustang, props to the owner/builder.

Wrong! You include every single modified aspect of an engine during dyno'ing. A 150 shot of NOS does not mean you get an extra 150whp, it is relevant to your modifications (internals, fuelling, aspiration etc etc)
Therefore a 'charged and NOS'd engine at 456whp is perfectly viable.

Not always do they include the NOS while dynoing a car. It depends a lot on the type of NOS system your running. I'm assuming that since this shows low hp for this guys setup, it's all motor on that dyno.

Ditch that roots type and put on a centrifucal. I put down 510rwhp/530lb-ft with 8 psi. This is from a very mild 347 with a Vortech SQS. With a a 50 shot I put down 545rwhp and 598lb-ft. Overkill, i'm sure you car would accelerate better since i'd just liquify the rear tires.

Okay....now show me a video of an 8-71 supercharged big block chevy (a 502ci preferably), with the 8-71 nitrous kit on it. Stupid website has no info on the max HP gains for the kit, and when I do find a video of a blown car with a nitrous kit, it's a small engine, a small blower and a teeny tiny shot!

i have that same blower on my 85 gt hatch with a 6 lb pulley. holley 650 double pumper with 73 jets in front and 80's in the back. this thing screams! how big of a shot with the help of the blower put down 456 hp???

ford called it the 5.0 because thier straight six is already 4.9 and they didint want mecanics or parts guys getting confused. also chevys 5.7 liter ls1 was 346ci and not 350ci. and it has allways said 5.0 on the fender of foxes except the cop cars and 93cobras,and 94-95 gt

Your actually wrong there on the "5.0" badges for the SSP cars. Some did come with them. I had purchased a FHP 1990 SSP that had them on there.

Actually it is closer to 3.477 than 3.46. And CHP cars had the 5.0 badges. my browas pulled ovver by one in Cali back in 86. Maybe some did not have badges. Look up liters to C.i conversion on google next time prior to posting math equations.

302=4.9 but everyone has and will always call 79-93 mustangs with a 302 a "5 point oh", or "five oh" ... and yes lovethypitbull, they did come with 5.0 emblems i have almost all original ford ads and they are all badged 5.0 on the side.

The actual displacement of a 302 IS in fact 4.9L. The 5.0L Is just the name for it, cause it sounds better, and is a nice round number. 302's are 4.9L.

ERietdyk is probably right, 1996+ is called a 289 but it is really a 281 4.6l.... 289 was just a rly good motor ford had in the 60s and so that wanted something older men could adjust too like the fairlanes etc.
