also don't use any cottonballs or ear cleaners, they'll leave a scuff on the disc that will not come off unless you do the gritty toothpaste cycle 10 times

smooth/striped toothpaste polishes and removes some minor scratches, the gritty toothpaste can remove deeper scratches but you need to do multiple cycles of rubbing for 5 minutes for the gritty toothpaste to work, use the fingers like he did and it should work, it repaired my MoH: Rising Sun that was scratched to hell

The reason it works, has nothing to do with Chemistry lol. It is about the properties in Toothpaste. Toothpaste is abrasive, meaning that it can strip away a surface. This is one way it cleans your teeth. Think of like microscopic fine sandpaper in gel form. By doing what he did, it strips off the top layer of the plastic, making a smooth surface; scratch free. This works on glass as well for car windows. : ) Old trick, found in the 60's.

Hey! Thanks for having legit proof that the toothpaste method actually works! It helped me lots... Other videos say do this, do that, but they don't explain to you exactly how to do it without showing that it doesn't harm the disc. Some have gone as far as saying that you need diet soda, etc. This one just requires toothpaste and water.

well appearently toothpaste is suppose to polish/wear off some of the disc so that scratches wouldn't throw off the lazer, when there is a scratch that doesn't go from the center to the outer edge in a B line, then it gets harder to read
