  • out there in the cold,

getting lonely getting old, can you feel me ?

    Hrm, doesn't work with this.

  • ahaha I remember this vid cos the girl i was going out with at the time really hated one of the girls in the video and used to throw things at the tv.. .good song though :D

  • how many times did i see these at the tivoli in buckley??? best party band by a mile!!!

  • well pink floyd's hey you is better but this is good too

  • What can i say...game over is the first thing im tinking about..They are coming to my town...not gonna join...:D

  • god this is crap

  • QUALITY NEVER GOES OUTA STYLE

  • Anyone who caught The Quireboys live 89-93 will have often seen the Red Dogs playing with them. Footage has recently been rediscovered and is now on youtube. Do a search for "Red Dogs Working Late" to bring up the video for the single or "Red Dogs Super Channel" for two live tracks and small interview. Hope it brings back memories for some of you.

  • this is the stuff, great sleaze rock from the good old days, saw thes guys at least twenty times through the late 80@s and 90's, stand by your bands

  • saw them a couple of years back at Bristol, still had it together and a great voice....are they still around - everyone else from the era (and British) are back touring, and doin festivals

  • It's so aerosmith

  • @TheGuitarSurfin yeah shure....what about today´s bands? full of samplers and shit....nobody sings it´s only rapping.....that was fashion at the time man!

  • @TheGuitarSurfin Aerosmith? I think you mean The Faces...

  • @TheGuitarSurfin better than Aerosmith.

  • I don't care who they sound like these guys kicked ass! Several years ago I ran across This is Rock and Roll and picked up without hearing it because I was so excited to see a new album by them and listen to it all the time! The title track and Taken for a Ride are my favorites, check it out if you haven't heard it!

  • HEY YOU!!! MY GENERATION SUCKS, LONG LIVE THE GLORIOUS 80'S!!!

  • Aerosmith, Black Crowes, a little Rod Stewart....whatever...just ENJOY!!

  • the quireboys and dogs d'amour should have been huge.

  • dont know about other countrys but in ireland 'quireboys' is a crowd of gay kids :\ as in quire is gay and boys a just boys so its a very bad name for a shit rock bad, lisin to rap :) (2pac,biggie,eazy,big)

  • @XtalWikkidKlown if you learn about vocal theory you will notice that people who are like 16 can not generally sing like this, even after a puberty. the older you get the more you can obtain a bluesy mid range voice style. you might be ignoring his singing flaws if there are other things you really like about him.

  • @juker606 Spike isn't 16 in this video.

  • @Thudese he's not? either way my point is that age does effect the vocal chords. he's voice doesn't sound ready to me. even if the song ain't too bad.

  • @juker606 He is even older than 20 in this video. Doesn't matter if he isn't ready to you, we other people likes his voice. This song is the best!

  • @Thudese i don't know about the best, i mean this band never made it big.

  • @juker606 Maybe because bands like Nirvana became famous at almost the same time, and people started to listen more to them than to bands like quireboys? Just a theory, i dont know if its true.

  • @Thudese grunge didn't kill these type of bands, grunge bands had good music then, but bands like the quireboys did not anymore like they did in the 80's and in 1990. just like new wave did well at the same time metal and hard rock bands did in the 80's. 90's hard rock bands were just not as good anymore, they were okay but not over the top like so many in the 80's.

  • @juker606 Still, it's a theory mr. expert. I think quireboys would have been bigger if people would have bought Bittersweet and twisted. But not many did, and why's that? i dont think its because they weren't as good as the other bands.

  • @Thudese it's fact. i was living in LA trying to make it in the music scene with local bands in the 90's and i kept a close eye on what was going on in hollywood, etc. this band in no crue or gnr when those bands first came out and why? cuz the music was not nearly catchy enough, they may have a good image, talent, equipment, good stage routine but without catchy songs it's nothing. i don't mean well crafted complicated songs either, i mean catchy. this song is okay but not a hit. too folky.

  • @juker606 Too folky for you maybe. I think this song is "catchy" and I'm sure many people agree with that. I suppose you would have been famous by now if you would have done what Quireboys "did wrong", but in the right way.

  • @Thudese no, it's folk oriented rock, not an opinion but fact. i also used to be famous with what works right, and this song is catchy, it's just not classic material. if it were that good of a song then it would be known cuz they had the distribution and marketing to make it happen.

  • @juker606 Still, i dont think its because of Quireboys MUSIC people dont listen to them. And a band dont need to do classic stuff just to make people listen to them.

  • @Thudese then why weren't they more successful? aerosmith did just fine in the 90's and this band isn't much different than them. sure, some people listened to them but not enough for the bands needs.

  • @juker606 Aerosmith became famous BEFORE Quireboys, and i still got my theory about Nirvana and bands like that became more popular at that time. And Quireboys are not like Aerosmith.

  • @Thudese i recall steven tyler saying in a interview on tv that they were more successful in the 90's. seemed hard to believe, but maybe. look how popular the song and video was for livin on the edge. check how many hits they had with billboard in the 90's. this band could have been there too if they had songs just as good. grunge i believe was popular cuz it was easier of a trend to follow and something kinda new then.

  • @juker606 But still, Aerosmith became famous before Quireboys, that's nothing you can change. And yes grunge was new and so on, that's why people probably listened to it.

  • @Thudese i'd bet good money that if the quireboys had hypothetically wrote and released the song 'dream on' in 94' themselves on the major label they were on, it would have been just as much of a hit. and these type bands were at a all time low in 94'

  • @juker606 But now they didn't make that song, since it's not their type of music, and I don't think they would have been famous with that song either. People like Quireboys because of the style they have now, and it's a shame that not more people knows who they are.

  • @Thudese look up the word hypothetical and learn what it means. the quireboys and aerosmith are in the same genre of music. if you can't see that then you are in denial or don't get music. also look up the song dream on, it was a hit in the 70's and is still played on the radio today. bands like the quireboys didn't make it in the late 80's either cuz they didn't have good enough songs, just okay ones.

  • @juker606 Look up the word wiseacre and there you go, a word for your personality.

Yeah, they are in the same genre, but they dont sound like eachother. And why are you getting stucked on that fucking song all the time, i dont care if quireboys would have done it famous or not, they have their own style and I KNOW THEY DIDNT make it during the late 80s, but A Bit Of What You Fancy was something many liked. They didnt just do "okay" songs, do something better instead of complain.

  • @Thudese no band is gonna sound exactly like each other. the quireboys never really made it big time in the 90's for the same reason other bands like them didn't is all i am saying, lack of really catchy songs like bands in the 80's did like gnr, crue, warrant. not the exact same style but the quireboys could fit the same bill to open for them. this kinda music is making a comeback these days, but with the old school songs, nobody is writing new songs that work.

  • @juker606 Okay, this wasn't the thing we started to argument about, it was actually that you said Spike tried to sound like Steven Tyler. He doesn't, and end of that story. I have heard enough of your "The never really made it big..." now so leave it, quireboys isnt famous, and its a shame.

  • @Thudese well i think he's trying to sound like steven, and dress kind of like him. but whatever.

  • Este tipo es una copia patetica de steven styler!!!!!!! pero con la vos de janis joplin!!!

  • I was backstage at a Magnum gig earlier and Spike showed up and gave me his number, no joke.

  • singers trying to hard to sound like steven tyler.

  • @juker606 Tyler's voice would never sound as good as Spike's.

  • @Thudese maybe it's cuz his look doesn't fit his voice to me, but it seems like he's forcing that bluesy mid range voice style. doesn't seem natural.

  • @juker606 His lovley voice is just blessed with cigarettes and whiskey ;P

  • @Thudese that's not possible until you're in your 40's..maybe 30's. but not 20's. he looks too healthy and young here for that.

  • @juker606 Well, im just trying to say that its nothing wrong with his voice, its uniqe and pretty natural. I've never heard him sing in another way, and i think it sounds incredible :) Much better than Tyler

  • @Thudese doesn't sound natural to me. i tried this style when i first started singing and it sounds forced like when i did it. it's clearly not unique, many people try this gritty style which is okay if it works. many people try and force a blues edge to hard rock cuz it seems cooler to them.

  • @juker606 Just because it doesnt come natural to you, it doesnt have to mean that it is like that for everyone. And it is unique, because no one else sounds like Spike, that's it. And so if he tries to make his voice "cooler" or whatever, it sounds good at least. And you are not forced to listen to his "forced" voice either.

  • @Thudese this reminds me of black eyed susan as well. either way if that's the style he wants to force then i would say he wasn't ready to show the world it then, if he's capable of making it sound 100% natural.

  • @juker606 It doesn't have to sound natural at all, and Spike is showing that to the world and many likes it so why complain?

  • @Thudese i guess it doesn't have to sound natural if you don't care about your success with that particular career choice.

maybe a jani lane type voice would be better for him.

  • @juker606 I don't think you have to sing clear and natural in this genre, if it sounds good then it's fine.

  • @Thudese lol. yeah right. cuz it's all noise to you anyway. lol. of course you have to sing clear and natural, this style of music is criticized the most, another reason why the big dogs have to bad asses to make it. like aerosmith, white snake, gnr, etc.

  • @juker606 It's not "noice" to me at all, it's music to me. And i don't care if it's critizicized, would that stop me to listen to it or what? Please.

  • I miss Guy Bailey though..............

  • who is the girl dancing ive alway had hots for you baby, boy can you move

  • we are playing with these on the acoustic festival of britain, :) thats how we roll :) ......raging jupiter ......cant wait :)

I wish it was still out there! Like compared to the pap you see and hear

on mainstream radio and tv, it's a godsend. At least it has real instruments

    and no auto-tune! Peace

  • man those guys have some nice guitars. It sounds a bit like ACDC. I remember them from back in the day, but I didn't hear this track. thanks for posting.

  • The missing one from the photo on the album cover is drummer Ian Wallace. Guy Griffin (guitar), Guy Bailey (guitarist in the hat), Nigel Mogg (bass), Chris Johnstone (keyboards) and Spike (vocals) are the other members.

  • On the Album cover of 'A bit of what you fancy' there are only 5 people shown, even though six recorded the album. Who are the five on there, and why is one missing? someone please tell me :)

  • Oh dear!

    Nuff said!

  • Girls in Hard Rock / Hair Metal video's are always sooo f***in hot

    Thanks ;)

  • One (crap) hit wonders.

  • love that lady dancing soooo geourges

  • Check out the band........ The OurZ

  • Awesome song/video by an awesome band! Luv em! :-D

  • Can anyone solve a mystery for me? Any pictures of feature only 5 band members (Spike plus 4 others), yet in this video we have 6 members of the band (Spike, rhythm guitar, bass, keyboard lead guitar and drums). Did one of them just stay with the band for a very short time? It always seems to me in any of their songs that there are 2 guitars, a bass plus a keyboard playing (thereby making a band of 6 if you count Spike and the drummer). What's going on here? Thanks in advance for any answers!

  • @BigAl5782 Lineup cicrca 1989 - 1990: Spike (Vocals), Guy Bailey (Guitar), Nigel Mogg (bass), Chris johnstone (piano), Ginger / Guy Griffin (Rhythmn guitar, depending exactly when we're talking about -this is probably GG) Nick connell / ian wallance (Drums - again, depends when we mean).

The five person pix are probably due to the floating nature of drummers and rythmn guitarists - both were replaced around the time of the first album

  • @Badjellythewitch

yeah i meant receding. WHen i saw quireboys backing whitesnake he had a bandanna and when my uncle saw him lasst year he had a thick head of hair and no bandanna must be a rug

  • something just feels very wrong and contrived about this.

Yeah you should see them, they're really great guys, and they love to drink with the fans ;)
