the only way i could play battlefield 3 is by installing windows 7 64bit. i have had so many issues and tried so many things. 64bit was the only way to stop all the errors and issues. i used 50gb's of space on 1 drive and ii only use it for battlefield 3. it works guys

@trotskiii3 I've got windows 7 64bit, its a crash fest, all the time, after 5 minutes, or sooner, but not longer. I have never actually played the game, as it crashes all the time, freeze, sound looping, boom - lock up! I wish i had billion dollars as i would take them to court, as this "is" classed as a broken "product", same as buying an LCD TV and its broken (what would one do) get out a screw driver and a soldering iron and try to fix it?? Umm, software is classed as the same - a product.

and i said to myself, am gunna try and help everyone i can to get playing this game as i managed to get it going. i was very annoyed, sometimes thou. i did realize the problems fell to myself, things i hadnt done the right way,

its a bit of a technical leap this game, ea havnt and arnt giving people the help they need to get the game up and running, there very unhelpfull

@nznaturopath so pls dont shout at me when i try and give you a few tips and they dont work. cause ive done it myself. lol. took advise that didnt work an got into a rage about it, and told the guy not to give advise that doesnt work. lol. i really think it comes down to the system your using alot of the time. the game needs a curtain kind of setup to work, and then you still get issues, but you may play for a good 7 or 8 hours no probs,

@nznaturopath thing is thou once you start to play and your system is fine. everytime you end a game on a server ( talking about multiplayer ) when you end that game you have had you have to !!! have to shut the game down and origin and start it up again to get the game running stable. its very annoying. anyways. i find only way to play is 64bit. but i also made the game play with compatibility for vista sp3. thats how i am set up. works. SET. power settings 4 pc to high performance in power ops

@nznaturopath i made 50gb of space on 1 of my hard drives. only 4 battlefield. nothing else. i installed win7 64bit. in that 50gb's of space and the game battlefield 3. i installed fresh drivers for my amd hd5870. made sure i installed direct x. and net frameworks. game running in compatibility for vista sp3. and origin also. all run as admin too. origin and battlefield. then update punkbuster manually. and auto. plus i use google chrome only not internet explorer. run as admin. good luck all

@nznaturopath PS.. dont forget high performance setting for power. important. i found it makes no difference if your overclocking or not. problems i believe lie with origin and having to use a god damn browser to play the game. which is why i just use google chrome. forgot. you really really need to make sure you set the ports. port forwarding is very important with battlefield. if you dont set the port through firewall you wont be able to play. i dont advise it but you can turn the firewall.

@nznaturopath off.. :) also. dont run anti virus. or anything. dont use game boosters either. you can use basic display to improve game stability. you can find the game port settings @ battlelog. soz i forgot them.

@3x8duzz same problem here... i can play for like 5-10 minutes before it freezes, and then says "Battlefield 3 has stopped working". Have you found a working fix yet? I paid 60 dollars for this shit, and there's no reason it shouldnt work.

if you are able to loggin to a server and after some seconds or minutes it crashes in game it might be the graphics overheat....at my pc the game sets the graphics at ultra but when i changet it to low i played 3 game at row without any crash...my graphics card is AMD Radeon™ HD 6970 Graphics....and i dont know why i cant play it higher the low quality....try this and i hope you can play at least!

If you have a Nvidia GTX card most likey you are getting the Dx Diag Crash. I have no fix for this. Except Buy a Radeon! i Did and with the Above fix Im good. Also if you have asus capture software remove it this will removes crashes after game ends and next level starts

Hey guys, I have the same problem but I solved it, you have to disable the realtek audio and the game won't freeze or crash anymore but this creates another problem that is u won't hear the audio.. but I heard about a usb headcuff that allows you to hear the audio even if the realtek audio of the pc is disabled, does anyone know something about this headcuff?? or does anyone know another way the hear the audio even if the realtek one is disabled?? cause without the audio the game runs perfectly!

As Admin In the command prompt type this exactly:

bcdedit /set increaseuserva 2500

Then hit enter.

* Make sure you get a message back confirming the change was made. To verify the entry is there you can type just bcdedit, hit enter, and you should see the entry now listed.

* Then close the command prompt. You just told Vista to increase user virtual address (userva) space to 2500MB.

TO UNDO THE CHANGES

type: bcdedit /deletevalue increaseuserva. Then Reboot

right ok seem to have a fix for the ati users 6xxx series cards after hours of trying things and i think its a dx11 bug,right ok go to your amd vision engine control center (little icon in the bottom right ) open it go to gaming (left hand side) click 3d application settings where it says tessellation click the use application settings then apply hope this works for you,i dont know about the nvidia side of stuff but there could be a slimler option in the driver menu let me know if this helps

I may have fixed the BF3 PC crashing by underclocking my GFX card to factory settings :) Underclocked my GTX 560 Ti to 822 Mhz. No crashes yet, after 45 minutes of Co-op :D

HOW TO FIX IT!!!!

Disable punkbuster in the server filter and search for a server to play

(Punkbuster (the ani-cheat program) fucks up the game & freezes ur PC even if you bought the game like me)

For now you can play without freeze only on punkbuster disabled servers.
