@xxxN1nJa5k1LZxxx Actually they mean the same thing: Dobok is in Korean and Gi is in Japanese, which means for the same thing of clothing worn during martial art training.
i think what i like best about this is all the takedowns are as short and to the point as possible. no throwing bodies in the air just GRAB GROUND quick as hell
not personally educated in this mans lineage to the traditional and very old style of Hwarangdo, but i have read alot of historical references to to it without ever being able to actually witness it other than still pictures. certainly enjoy what i am seeing and am very glad to see many of the " lost" korean arts finding new light these days. korea has a very rich and impressive martial arts history that is often misunderstood and uncredited due to some very terrible past events.
THESE TAKEDOWNS LOOK MORE FIERCE THAN JUDO!!!!!!! AND THE JOINT LOCKS LOOK CRIPPLING!!!!! I'M NOT PUTTING DOWN THE JAPANESE MARTIAL ARTS, BUT I WONDER HOW THEY GET MORE RECOGNITION THAN THE KOREAN?!?! THIS IS JUST AS GOOD, IF NOT BETTER IN SOME AREAS...I mean the weaponry is as good as any Filipino weapons fighting I've seen and the grappling as much as BJJ or Judo...It's not that these arts "suck" it's more that this art definately is underrated!!!!!!
@TheSatanikOrder666 Lol it's all in how the person is applying them....to say that korean arts are more fierece etc. judging from a video isn't really saying much.
Hwarang Do is a great art, I'm currently a 1st degree black belt in it and still training and it is Way more intense than a lot of other styles I have trained. But like every art the only thing that really matters is the practitioner and if they have the courage to use what they are taught when the time comes.
@pilsung22 Do you mean Tae Soo Do? Hwa Rang Do is a more comprehensive art that one graduates into upon receiving a Tae Soo Do Black Belt. Hwa Rang Do has sashes bud...not belts....
According to what i read tae kwon do tang soo do and many other korean arts are derived from this from and from what I heard it is the most rounded form of martial arts in the world meaning from standing close medium far, and ground fighting and all in betwee
i took hwa rang do couple years ago. ive done that with the arm never seen it done with the leg. the one i learned was yanking him foward and using the momentum, leaning back one leg extended and flipping him over yourself.
The instructor is Chief Master Taejoon Lee and his studio is located in West Los Angeles. You can reach him at (310)473-6233 or checkout his website hwarangdo dot net.

Very nice. I like how many martial arts styles share some similar techniques! Some things just work universally.

I just wikied hwarangdo and guess what I found. Hwarangdo has over 4000 techniques!!
Its not a martial art its a science !!
dhyleck 2 years ago 2
@dhyleck It most certainly is... The way of the scholar warriors.
WCHwaRangDo 2 years ago 2
@dhyleck
Now what you have to do is group up those techniques into major concepts as it will be easier to remember a few concepts then 4000 techniques

@dhyleck Funnily enough, my dad always refers to our art as" The Way of Martial Science". He had a banner for it and everything lol.
