I used to play gran turismo games but when I first played forza i was hooked! I play fm3 a lot these days, never touch gran turismo. I love to drive cars in real life and I have raced on tracks (nurburgring is my favourite) and for me the FEEL of a car in a racing game is the most important and forza is just in a different class then gran tursimo.. Another important thing is the SOUNDS of the cars, again a different league. And graphics, well just look above. Love it. Best racing game ever made.

fun game, but not a sim. and ppl need to realize that a 200mb lap time demo for GT5 wasnt the full game lol. the game coming out for ps3 is going to be huge, not to mention that GT5 is rendered in DX10, has realtime shadows, reflections, lighting, more cars, tracks, and forza is DX9 and is an arcade racer like need for speed. Honestly is think even the old ps2's GT4 was better than even forza 3. even tho i do like playing forza and need for speed sometimes. im just more into realism for racing.
ps just got the game a couple of days ago and if u like realistic car games then this is brilliant
1 downside is that the game comes on 2 disks (the second u need to download to ur hard drive for more cars and tracks which is 1.9 gb) but u can still play it without the second disk.

You don't have to listen to them...for one simple reason: the features list was not well translated from japanese. That 170 cars thing could mean anything: damage visible in the cockpit, more damage to these 170 cars (don't forget the word "premium" from the features list) etc. Kaz said that not all of the cars will have damage, he didn't say only 20%, there's a big difference.
and if slow lil cars like yaris, capuccino, demio etc don't have MECHANICAL damage it's cool for me. But don't forget about updates, they can be huge: gt5p spec I had shit graphics compared to spec III and HALF the cars it has today.

From my inferior knowledge of what company makes what cars, and if I am wrong, please let me know, there were 35 Japanese cars in the official Gran Turismo 5 Prologue car list. That seems to be a perfect balance of cars to me.
I'm not sure why they would add crap cars though, maybe they're going the extra mile for simulation gamers by making it like you've just turned 16 again, and your parents buy you a car for your birthday. It was usually a beat down, 200,000 mile car from the 80s or 90s ;).
Well, hopefully it'll all work out in the end for both of our parts in the balace issue.
The boosting the numbers is definitely adding bragging rights, but there are many possibilties for them doing it.
Another could be for the people who like collecting cars, even if they never touch them. It could also be due to the starting amount of money. It would be boring to see the same car in every race until you had money for, lets say, a corvette, no?
Sure GT5 won't be a bad game but it's car list will be comprised of every Japanese car ever made like all GT games which bores the shit out of everyone.
And if you want the best weather effects of any racing game, get PGR4.
Not to be a fan boy or anything, but Gran Turismo has never been mainly comprised of Japanese cars, it's had cars that appeal to the players. Yes, there are in fact more Japanese cars in their games, but Polyphony Digital is also based in Japan, so they have more extensive knowledge of Japanese cars. From what I've seen in the Prologue, most of the cars in GT5 are actually from America/Europe, and there is a far more extensive selection to choose from as well.
Are you sure about that? From the Prologue I noticed that there was an extensive collection of (annoying) Japanese cars, like the Daihatsu Copen. Sure some Japanese cars are awesome like the Nissan GTR and Mitsubishi Evo X but why do they have to include all the bangers that no one wants, just to boost the car number.
And it isn't just GT that has this problem, Midnight Club is always full of old Datsuns and stuff that I just walk straight past and buy European!

how about no shift animations in cockpit for FM3? How about only 8 miserable cars per race, even for le mans, 400 total, no weather, no night/day cycles? Definitive?...Wake up douchebag! You don't have to listen to them...for one simple reason: the features list was not well translated from japanese. That 170 cars thing could mean anything: damage visible in the cockpit, more damage to these 170 cars (don't forget the word "premium" from the features list) etc. Kaz said that not all of the cars will have damage, he didn't say only 20%, there's a big difference.

and if slow lil cars like yaris, capuccino, demio etc don't have MECHANICAL damage it's cool for me. But don't forget about updates, they can be huge: gt5p spec I had shit graphics compared to spec III and HALF the cars it has today.

From my inferior knowledge of what company makes what cars, and if I am wrong, please let me know, there were 35 Japanese cars in the official Gran Turismo 5 Prologue car list. That seems to be a perfect balance of cars to me.
I'm not sure why they would add crap cars though, maybe they're going the extra mile for simulation gamers by making it like you've just turned 16 again, and your parents buy you a car for your birthday. It was usually a beat down, 200,000 mile car from the 80s or 90s ;).

Well I believe that there were 75 cars in GT5P and if your count is correct that means just under 50% were Japanese cars, I don't call that balanced.
I think they include the crap cars just to boost the car number in-game, it's something for them to boast about isn't it?

Well, hopefully it'll all work out in the end for both of our parts in the balace issue.
The boosting the numbers is definitely adding bragging rights, but there are many possibilties for them doing it.
Another could be for the people who like collecting cars, even if they never touch them. It could also be due to the starting amount of money. It would be boring to see the same car in every race until you had money for, lets say, a corvette, no?

Sure GT5 won't be a bad game but it's car list will be comprised of every Japanese car ever made like all GT games which bores the shit out of everyone.
And if you want the best weather effects of any racing game, get PGR4.

Not to be a fan boy or anything, but Gran Turismo has never been mainly comprised of Japanese cars, it's had cars that appeal to the players. Yes, there are in fact more Japanese cars in their games, but Polyphony Digital is also based in Japan, so they have more extensive knowledge of Japanese cars. From what I've seen in the Prologue, most of the cars in GT5 are actually from America/Europe, and there is a far more extensive selection to choose from as well.

Are you sure about that? From the Prologue I noticed that there was an extensive collection of (annoying) Japanese cars, like the Daihatsu Copen. Sure some Japanese cars are awesome like the Nissan GTR and Mitsubishi Evo X but why do they have to include all the bangers that no one wants, just to boost the car number.
And it isn't just GT that has this problem, Midnight Club is always full of old Datsuns and stuff that I just walk straight past and buy European!
