Great song, great voice. Vocally, Darbyshire sounds a bit like Lou Rawls, albeit in a higher register. And this particular composition has a chord progression similar to that of Bill Withers' "Lovely Day." All in all, it's a winner!
Lisa Stansfield's team wrote this one...and she even does some of the background vocals... Not bad. Can't help but imagine Lisa singing it, because it's totally hers... : )
Frustrating is how I feel that this guy didn't go and have a huge solo career. Makes you laugh - we have shows like X Factor and American Idol and everyone goes crazy for a bit of talent - yet people like this could blow the socks off most of them. Shame he never found or wrote commercial enough songs to remain the superstar he was in my eyes.....
@littlenige It doesn't surprise why Richard never get big attention than he deserved. He's underestimated and disrespect himself & audience. You'll see in all of youtube clip he's never played real live (especially in his prime time 80's era).
I liked his voice, his songwriting he's my idol. But he's wasted his talent and music sincerity by doing mimed.
This song is so amazing and uplifting, as several others are on that album. Amazing songwriter, he wrote so many hits for others. Amazing guitarist, listen to his solo on "Can't Stop The Wheel". That with "From Beginning To End" and "Unique" (in my opinion) are the best Living In A Box songs. Those SHOULD have topped every chart in the world! Arguably the best male soul singer alive. Best primal scream too. If talent equalled fame, he'd be the most popular singer / songwriter in the world.
What do you want to know? There are 2 cd albums "Wherever love is found" and "love will provide"--which is basically the first but with 5 more tracks, they're both great and you won't be disappointed.
Damn, I've been looking for the details of this song for so long, thank you!

I once met Richard Darbyshire at a party in Parrs Wood, Manchester in 1976 I think it was. He was a nice guy - we chatted about music and stuff.
