This was a great funny song. My dad used to tell me about Spike Jones and the City Slickers. He grew up during during WW II and told me about this song and sometimes even used to sing this song mocking Hitler. This is great stuff.
During WWII, the British actually did this in propaganda films, taking movies of Hitler giving speeches and nazis marching, then speeding them up and playing funny music over them.
Technically, the song was not written by Jones, it was written by Oliver Wallace and recorded specifically for the Disney short, originally titled, "Donald Duck in Nutzi Land". Jones adapted it, and the song's success led to Disney changing the cartoon's title. Original sheet music for the song from Disney's publisher exists referencing both the film's original title and its released version.
That last scene, with the crowds going absolutely nutzoid over their maniacal, insane leader, is one of the most chilling images ever caught on celluloid.
Isn't if funny that at one time in America it was fine to laugh at or make fun or our enemies, and when the fighting was over everybody got over it. Now, if we make a comment about and enemy we get kicked by our enemies, liberals in our own country cry, and we are seen as the bad guys.
What's that supposed to mean? When did the US ever need to propagandize against Nazis? They did a pretty good job of sending their hate message themselves.
excellent! If only they had had internet then... I think this video would have gone viral, lol! And one can only dream, maybe it could have made a difference! Great job!
I am glad I did not have to endure this era... my parents did.... let's make sure it never happens again!
I want to give this 10 stars and I love the edit. Ridicule is the greatest weapon against the Great Dictators. Stand up and think for yourself but remember "thinking" constructively is a collective enterprise.
There are neo-Nazis and white supremacists who revere the Riefenstahl film. I would love to smack them real hard with a wooden club. Unfortunately, they thrive on violence and martyrs, so that approach would just play into their hands. The best thing is to subject them to ridicule. Keep up the good work!
what you do against them is broadcast that they are anti-semitic and then society disowns them in a sense they start loosing power and soon they just do small 3 person meeting in basemernts
On the "Riefenstahl Film". I hope you and the other's here watched Tarentino's "INGLORIOUS BASTARDS". There were a lot of references to the Riefenstahl as, well as old time Hollywood bigshots like Louis B. Mayor ( himself a meglomaniac )........ I was sad that a lot of the viewing public in the theater didn't understand a lot of the dialogue Tarentino included. Involving every thing from Goebbal's cussing Jessee Owen's, Churchill talking about Mayor, and the explosiveness of Silver Nitrate Film.
Mr. Adolf really had an extraordinary powerful talence in using body language. His gestures and facial movements gestures are so excaggerated, raw and corny that if we didn't know he is speaking to the prominent leaders of his country, we'd probably think he is just a well trained comedian. All we can learn is that charismatic persons seem to attrack large crowds (and authorities) not only in entertainment business but in politics as well to the point where raw emotion wins rational thinking.
Germany was the worlds spit cup after WWI. Mr. Hitler brought Germany back to glory again.
Germany was now a wonderful country to live and it was modern with it's Autobahn and stuff.
Unfortunate even to Hitler himself, after he got this fixed he started to take care of a bit more personal problems, as one of them was hate for Jews of which he even wrote to his book: Mein Kampf.
If you see the 'Downfall' version you'll find its crap in comparison to this version.

Excellent video editing. It must've taken forever to sync up the "chipmunk" sound with the Hitler's mouth.
You know, though, it's a bit disturbing when it's not Disney characters.
